For anyone needing a helping hand try this link.

It's already on the Albion page so just pick the opponent and you should be able to identify the game as long as you have a rough idea or the date/score.

Think it was against Tranmere and I remember it being blazing hot so looking at that site it must be the 2-1 victory on 9th August 97.

Boxing day 1973 v the vile. Won 2-0. 43,080. 14 years old. Recently wished I'd left it at that.

We lost to Forest, Collymore score, I was about 10, so around 1990 and I think we lost 2-0. I was in the Rainbow end.
Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

1973-74 season I was 7, we was in the 2nd division, can't remember first 1st team match but my Dad used to take me to a lot of reserve  team games before he introduced me to the first team. It was 'King' Jeffs last season if my memory serves me correct.

Ah, the match with the jack russell pitch invasion! I nearly got strangled at half time by an Everton fan who grabbed my scarf through the railings at the Smethwick End and pulled... hard!

I was definitely at that one, but it was not my first, that was a few years earlier but really can not remember.

What I do remember was the walk up to the Smethwick corner where my Uncle and I stood, past the old substation at the bottom of the slope to the half moon turnstiles at the top, the clank, clank as you went through into a flat area behind the Smethwick corner, the smell of Bovril from the drinks stall which was situated there, your first peep of the early season lush green from a gap in the boards at the back of the stand, then down the sloped terrace to find a spot halfway down, behind one of the red oxide painted barriers.
Standing on the terraces, the smell of rich pipe tobacco, the old horn tannoy systems muffled sound overhead, the old steel lamps hung from the wooden Belfast roof, the programme seller going around the track, the sweets and drink sellers with their white plastic trays.

Oh the memories! :)

i need help in naming the year, game was against Chelsea, john Osborne was in goal,we lost 1 or 2 nil and peter Osgood scored

John Osborne played for Albion between 1966-77 in that time we lost twice at home to Chelsea 0-1 but never lost 0-2 at home

The  2 games took place on

1) 12th November 1966 when Bobby Tambling scored the only goal.

2) 19th August 1967 when again Bobby Tambling scored the only goal

Peter Osgood didn't play in the 1966 game, but he did in the 1967 game

Conclusion, your first game was Saturday, 19th August 1967

Although I have seen it said that Ossie joined Albion in 1966 I'm pretty sure he didn't join until early 1967. In goal against Chelsea that game in November 1966 I think was Ray Potter, and yes, Tambling scores for them, so your detective work looks correct!
