I have no doubt Baird will be just back up to the numerous positions he can play.I hate to spoil some of your parties but I very much doubt we are after Richards. As CL said "Its nothing more then Twitter fantasy" and even if we were after him I can think of Atleast two stumbling blocks. One would  be his wage demands and the other would be competition for him. He has been linked with several clubs including Stoke and Newcastle who we would be behind in the que.

As I've mentioned before my mate usually hears bits and pieces he has just told me the Baird medical has been completed and we have a interest in Zaha from United. He is usually reliable but please dont shoot the messenger should this information be wrong I just thought I'd share it with you.

Hopefully he is wrong, Zaha would be a poor signing. Will never cut it at this level.

Get Baird to cover CB, right back, and DM but never start him that's what is do,

                 Foster
RB      Lescott      Olsson     Byram

RM     Mulumbu   O'neil      Brunt

                Senssengnon

                 Berahino

Relegation all over that side IMO

I'd be happy with that:) next season starting 11

If Baird was the answer then why didn't we sign him last season instead of giving Reid a new contract? Oh yes he wasn't free back then.

I think Zaha deserves a proper chance in the prem, he was great at Palace in the champ and I suspect the people moaning about that being the champ not the prem are the same people moaning that we didn't sign Creswell.

He hasn't had a decent crack at united and if we could sign him as our player and not a loan I'd be chuffed.

didnt we try and sign him a few years back? Are we just signing players passed their peak?

Yes we did and he wasn't any good then either.....

If it wasn't already evident to everyone this sort of signing explains why we weren't able to attract anyone better than Alan Irvine.

Another one of these players who are there to just make the numbers up.

He will add depth and cover to the fullback slot...people forget we need back up aswell as starters for these positions.

If he's coming here as an under study to a specialised right back then I'll be reasonably happy considering Baird can feature in a number of positions. If he is also being used as an under study to the right back then I can thankfully get rid of the notion that Craig Gardner might have been signed as our secondary right back. The worrying thing for me though is that he's just another player the wrong side of 30 who is being used as an emergency stop gap and will no doubt see us in a similar position next year when his contract expires.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head for me too, Liam.

We desperately need some youth, pace and energy in the squad now.

Signings like this isn't about building a team, it is simply kicking the can down the road.

If it means we can spend bigger (i know , i know  ::) ) on forwards/ wingers I'm ok with signing Baird , worrying it's another 30 + signing though.

As others have said, if he's backup and it's just a matter of signing the backup first, then that's ok. But if he's here for 1st team.... We're in huge trouble.
Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

Oh dear, there are some real idiots around.

Straight replacement for Steven Reid at minimal cost, no issues from me.

Back up or not he wasn't deemed good enough for a Prem side to pick him up last summer. If we are going to sign squad fillers then someone younger and hungry would surely be a better option.

Reid weren't good enough either. So we replace one has been with another. Great business.

People may not be happy with him signing but abusing his wife is downright pathetic!. These are not true fans.
