Needs some game time.  He can be our goal poacher, alwa liked his work rate and his effort level.

Jones and McAuley looked today what they have been for most of their careers...................championship players.

You must have been watching a different game to me I thought he did okay, no more than this, but this goes for the rest of the team.  This follows good performances against Wolves and the Villa. We are stronger at the back than we have been for some time.

Last year it was fantastic to get all three points at home.  I would be happy with a point tomorrow.  Three would be ecstatic, but having gained six in the last two I think we have and are doing well.

Should have gone off.  Disgusting! Looked pleased with himself afterwards as well. As for the refereeing, some of the worst I have seen

Really pleased for Chris, he is having a stormer!.  I do think he has real potential, will he make it at prem level?  Only time will tell, but for me it is key he keeps playing.  That means we do not pull him back from the blues unless we need him for direct cover, i.e. we have at least tow injuries pecking order for me would be Ode/Long, Tchoyi, Cox then Wood, Fortune....gee we look strong!

« on: October 05, 2011, 11:13:04 AM »
Think Cox is a player who deserves a chance.  Perspective here is important though.  We have real competition up front now.  Odemwinge, Long, Cox (I really rate him), Wood (views differ but scoring for fun on loan) and Tchoyi who just baffles defences. In short we have a strong squad and we need to remember that.  Love to see Cox get a go though.  Don't think the Spurs goal was a one-off I think he could do really well for us.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Peace makes new offer for shares.
« on: September 29, 2011, 12:43:30 PM »
I think this is a fairly straight forward transaction, and I am pleased that Peace wants more of the club.  This shows we are succesful.  I am at a loss on occassion to understand what fans expect of the Chairman.  He has acted with prudence and maturity in difficult times and continues to do so, Peace more than anyone over the years he has been in charge has guided the club forward and we only might start to realise this when he has gone.  Think about the other clubs of our size wrecked by mis-management.  Leeds, Southampton, Charlton, Portsmouth....list is endless.  We have a lot to be thankful for.

As a Norfolk resident I was pleased with the win (life at work on Monday would have been tough if we hadn't).  Norwich were unlucky not to get a penalty and we dd not play well.  That being said, my Norwich mates would agree that in the last third they were poor and from where I was sitting, for most of the game they struggled to get power in the shot and to to keep it on target.  We have to move on and improve.  We were not good enough today, but all the best to Norwich.  The atmosphere was good!

Roy is doing a grand job and yes I trust him.  Not only will he do a great job in the transfer market but also he will get the best out of what we have.  Did well getting the best out of Meite (for a while at least), got the best out of Carson and a number of others.  In short we are blessed and we need to remember that.  Could so easily have been us doing the Blues/Hammers drop if we had not made that mentally very painful switch.  RDM was and is a good manager, but hard fact is not quite good enough.

Cox has real potential. No guarantees but he can poach goals (Ireland last week), and score crackers (Spurs away).  Needs mentoring and coaching but he could be a big player for us.

« on: June 03, 2011, 12:58:53 PM »
Cannot see him going to Fulham and from what I can see he is quite happy here, and we are quite happy with him!  Understand if he went for the England job, this has after all to be the holy grail for any English manager,  and if he did this I think he would go with our blessing.  On balance though I think he is here for a few years otherwise.

I think he could be a massive player for us next year.  Noticed when we played Everton last week how he seemed to waltz past their defence.  Good to watch and really gives us something extra which we do not have elsewhere.  Cannot understand some of the comments on this thread at all.  Have you seen him play?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Credit to Peace
« on: May 23, 2011, 04:58:53 PM »
Full credit deserved.  Took a really hard decision which paid off.  If not we would be in West Ham's position now, not where we are.  Said before, we need a fan chant for the Chairman (did we not have one for Thompson?).  No-one has done more to promote the club in the past twenty years.

494
Dear God it has not been boring this season!  More of the same next year please, but without the "saggy" bit in the middle.  I won't forget the wins against Liverpool, Villa, Arsenal, Blues (home and away).  Whatever else we will be it will not be boring, trust me!  Who knows where we can go know Europe?  FA Cup? The world's our oyster!

Our problems have not yet gone away, but we have some time to deal with them.  Still think Shorey and Jonas are class defenders, but we need to stregthen and under Roy we will do this.

Well done! Got to start calling him Simon O'Cox from now on?  Great player, got an even bigger contribution to make next year IMO.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: So Barnett is back...
« on: May 04, 2011, 09:48:52 PM »
Barnett is well thought of in these parts and speaking to those who have watched him play I think he is an improved player from when he left us.  However, he is currently out with a long term injury.  Sure he will make the squad but he will need to regain his place next season.

As I understood the press releases at the time, there is a reasonably detailed plan to extend, but it would only be put into place if we became an established premiership club.  There was some speculation as to what was meant by this and the Express and Star reported that it meant when we had been in the premiership for three to four years consecutively.

Two thoughts here.  Firstly we cannot sell all our tickets.  Took my dad up to see the Man Utd game, got the tickets as soon as they were available to season ticket holders.  However, we were still selling tickets two days before the match (maybe even later?).  Evan against the Wolves I think we were still selling tickets two days before kick off?

That being said as the economy picks up, people will come back.  Have several friends this year who have not been up much because they have been short or out of work and as this changes (hopefully it will), and if we keep on playing as we have done, tickets will be really hard to come by.

Question is, do you preempt the demand or follow it?

As I understand it, the  move to The Hawthorns preempted being able to fill it and now is maybe the time to be brave.  But if I was JP, I would give it one more season.

Was very disappointing.  Last on and no discussion at all.  I was expecting to see us second or third on (maybe even first).  Still we're not from London and they like their mates in the "larger" clubs.  What else to say?

Remember that chant.... Not one of our better moments.  As I recall that was about the time Doug Ellis built a moat around Villa Park to prevent pitch invasions.. or did I dream that one?
