This is too important a game to accept such negligence.
What's the alternative? Not to Bartley but to acceptance?

Absolutely! Team selection irrelevant, whatever 11 comes out they need 100% from us.
Yes, even Bartley!!!  ;)

Have we tried Holgate at CB? I know he can/has played there before for others. Keeps Bartley out and lets Phillips in.
See above mate, that's what I would go with. Haven't tried it all season though so doubtful we will now.
Bartley will start, need to just accept it and get behind him.

The Sportsman will be chocka as will the Vine and the Desi. Not sure if the Sandwell or the Billiard hall have sky? Will be watching in sunny Tipton then head to West Brom for a celebratory drink afterwards.

They have four huge players Mings, Grealish, McGinn and Abraham. We have two Hegazi, Gayle.

They are the better team. We have to hope for luck / the breaks and one or two of ours to over-perform while one or two of theirs under perform.
3 of their's played in the 2-0 win at Villa park whereas only 1 of ours did, yet we totally controlled the game. Think you may be hyping them up a bit too much.

Yup. They have thrown the original system they agreed out the window.  Tickets are effectively on general sale as long as you're on the database.
The away game??

I would just like to thank both Liverpool and Tottenham for showing me that we should never give up.
I have been feeling as negative as anyone about our chances but it's time to get on board now. These two champs league games should give us all hope and, whatever happens at Villa Park, we need to rock up on Tuesday and raise the roof! These games do not come around very often, we should be loving every minute of it, not sulking and moaning.
I know we are no Liverpool or Tottenham but Villa are no Barca or Ajax either and we've shown more than once this season that we are capable of a fightback, when necessary.
Come on boys, let's put em out!

Holgate. Dawson.  Hegazi. Gibbs

Murphy.  Phillips.  Johansson.  Brunt

Can't see us suddenly going 442, think it's probably 352/451

I would go

           Holgate Dawson Hegazi
Phillips Johansson Harper Field Gibbs
               Gayle Rodriguez

Not much chance of a clean sheet but at least a goal threat.

I think we'll see
            Dawson Bartley Hegazi
Holgate Johansson Livermore Brunt Gibbs
                 Gayle Rodriguez

No real threat from the bench either way should we go a couple behind but that's nothing new.

Where is everyone watching the game this weekend?

I live in South Birmingham so all local pubs will be Vile.

Didn't really fancy going into town but it's looking like my only option.
West Brom

Would snatch your hands off for a draw, or even narrow defeat, after that today. Really tear Villa could be out of sight after the 1st leg and the Hawthorne game becoming a dead rubber.

Qualities required for a local derby:

We have none of the above and we gave away our last shred of dignity when we sacked Moore. No chance of going up and probably don’t deserve it.

Anyone considered this nightmare scenario?

Boro lose to Rotherham and Pulis gets the sack

We win the play offs and get promoted, yet are still technically managerless so, advert goes out for manager with proven Premier League track record.

Sweet Dreams  :o

So if we beat Derby, Middlesboro could get the play-off spot. We could then finish third, and face the Pulis across two legs.

But if we lose Boro can't get the last spot, but we end up playing Villa.

A draw means we might see Boro in the play-offs, but we'll play Villa.

Talk about a nightmare scenario.
Villa are the only team we can play who we are unbeaten against.
Head to head

Villa 4-2 won 1, drawn 1
Derby 1-4 lost 1, ??
Boro 2-4 lost 2
Bristol City 6-5 won 1, lost 1

Finish 4th and take the easy route  ;)

Fair enough. Still generally want to manage momentum with getting players to peak fitness (incl. avoiding risk of injury/suspension) for the play-offs.
Definitely need to rest our most important / vulnerable players so no Phillips, Gayle, Hegazi, Gibbs or Rodriguez for me.
Bond should have a game as well and, if he does well, keep his place for the play offs. How Johnstone has survived all season is beyond me but it's not too late to change. Bond could be the difference between success and failure.

Accordingly an new new rule introduced after Huddersfield played 10 reserves means we must have at least 10 of the players who played v Rotherham on the team sheet for Derby
       Tosin Dawson Bartley
Holgate Field Harper Brunt Townsend
              Edwards Kanu

I'm not a fan of the Prem and don't particularly look forward to getting pummelled every week, but, I don't want to lose to Villa and i don't want to lose at Wembley, so promotion it has to be!
Rest as many as possible against Derby, whilst, in the meantime, setting out a game plan for the next 2 games. Decide formation and personnel and do everything it takes to get them fired up.
Under no circumstances should the players be allowed near social media, if only to keep them away from our own fans negativity but also to just focus their minds on the job in hand.
For all the shenanigans we have gone through this season, we are still within touching distance of promotion and we should all take a minute to appreciate that.

If we can go up, beating Villa on the way, this year will go down in history boys  ;)

Pointless appointment. You are not seeing the bigger picture and the 2 examples listed are ridiculous. There are better candidates out there but the pussy footing around after the sacking of DM was unforgivable. This is just silly. JUst a gesture so that the board can say they tried.
What's the bigger picture then oh wise one? The two names were deliberately silly but who is out there that would have come in to work under Shan?

Very cheap, very short-term,very Albion.
Who else could we have got to come in as an assistant to a complete novice? Hardly going to attract the likes of Mourinho or Wenger is it?
having committed to Shan for the rest of the season, I'm surprised we've even got someone with Appleton's experience.

Blimey, the amount of negativity here is beyond me. Firstly, the 'lap of appreciation' is from the players to the fans, not the other way around. Second of all this will be the home crowds last chance to give the players a bit an extra boost and encouragement ahead of the play-offs.

If things don't work out after the semi or final, vent your disappointment then, but the team are going to need all the support they can get just as the other 3 teams and their fans will give too.

I'm trying to stay optimistic but seems so many fans are resigned that our season is over already...what hope do we have in the play-offs?
Fair play, we need more posts like this.
At the start of the season, I thought it would be a great result if we reached the play offs so to do it with so many games to spare is amazing. However, all the shenanigans around Moore's sacking and the subsequent circus, has put a downer on it somewhat. I have pushed a lot of this angst onto the players (on here only, not real life), but they deserve credit for our achievements this season.
I, for one, am with you, from here on in, and am going to try and accentuate the positives, of what has been a great season, and look forward to the play offs with enthusiasm.
Imagine putting the Villa out and going up via Wembley. It doesn't get much better than that does it?

Why? Why is the club obsessed with people previously connected with the club. What can he do at this stage without undermining
Shan. Does Brunt approve of this? Bloody fiasco
It does say that it was Shan who contacted him though. Can't see the club insisting on Appy without Shan's consent, but nothing would surprise me with Jenkins.
It does seem strange for him to want someone with a far better CV and genuine ambition to manage the club. Maybe Shan just doesn't want it, long term? Can't say i blame him, he watched what happened to Moore first hand.
If it works, great, can't say I'm not worried that it could be a case of too many cooks though.

Put Calamity Kyle on for the last 5 minutes of the first leg and tell him to wipe McGinn and Squeamish out in one go. Take one (or two) for the team so to speak  :o
What's he going to do, point em to death?

If we win one, draw one against the Villa, as we did in normal time, we are in the final.
Doesn't matter who we get then as it's a one off S***e or bust scenario.

Nothing to do with Foster, he’s gone. Johnstone is either good enough or not and, for me, he’s not even close.. Can’t remember such a poor shot stopper in an Albion shirt. We’ve had a few good uns who were crap on crosses or couldn’t kick but this bloke struggles with every aspect of the game.
Bond deserves a chance just because Johnstone is so bad.
