West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Jay Rodriguez
« on: June 04, 2019, 07:50:33 PM »
To be honest, a lot of people didn't rate him all season. It's £10 million, most transfers are instalments and this is 10 broken into two payments. Don't understand the problem really. Remember the wages are what kills a lot of clubs.

We signed him for 12 mill two season ago. He’s only 29 and he scored 22 goals this season. Take into account general inflation of transfer fees of the last few years and it only paints a worse picture. As if the Club couldn’t have any worse press at the minute.

Our Club is an absolute shambles - no two ways about it. A laughing stock doesnt do it justice.

So we have effectively got rid of him for 5 mill (+5) and Evans for 3.5 mill in the last two years. Absolutely seething.

There are surely much, much better ways to organise his departure for not going up.

The ever-reliable John Percy reporting that we will hold talks with Bruno Labbadia on Monday, with the other contenders set to be approached later in the week.

Can't see it happening myself and I'm not sure how I feel about it but at least it isn't somebody on the usual managerial merry-go-round.

Although he’s played in a few different positions, I wouldn’t touch him. To say we’re hardly going to spend a penny, 4 million would be an absolute waste for a player who has often been a liability this season. He’s apparently on 50k odd a week at Citeh too!

Much like the Spurs game last season, immensely proud of that atmosphere tonight.

It shows that being a fan of a club is so much more than what’s on the pitch.

we have been filmed... TWICE in two separate seasons.

Very true - the 'Artist In Residence' and 'Behind The Badge' documentaries.

However, in both of those documentaries (and correct me if I'm wrong) but I remember them both being focused on the team, with the Artist In Residence doc more about the actual artist and him encapsulating the emotions of the fans throughout the season. Neither doc focuses on the board and their what happens behind the scenes in the club.

We're an absolute joke of a club at the minute.

I have nothing against Shan and he is doing the best job he can do at the minute (at least he is learning from his mistakes, with the change of shape, playing a more direct style, and finally putting Gayle and J-Rod up top together). I will be supporting him throughout the rest of the season and during the twists and turns in the play offs.

But to leave us in this position, asking a youth coach with a complete lack of experience to get the better of coaches with top level Championship teams in the play offs, is scandalous, outrageous and frankly, an utter embarrassment.

Will somebody tell me what Luke Dowling has done at this club since his arrival other than identify several loan signings from the Premier League that any football with fan with half a brain could have spotted? I still sit here and cannot believe the ineptitude of the board to NOT have a plan. Every football club these days should have a shortlist of 3/4 managers who they like and are ready to go for.

While watching the Netflix documentary 'Sunderland Til I Die' the decision making and general poor management from their top brass was enough to leave me laughing; I'd dread to think if we were filmed what we would see!

I fear this board is not finished with is disgraceful decision making just yet.

He'd have kept a clean sheet at home to Middlesbrough and that's without me really needing to think about it.

He would have prevented a few of the long range efforts that have beaten Johnstone too. Sheffield Wednesday away springs to mind.

You just never see Johnstone make a save that you wouldn't expect any competent keeper to make. You never say, he had no right to save that. Foster is consistently making saves of this type.

Although I agree with your sentiments regarding Johnstone, the save he made at home to Forest, from Lewis Grabban, won us that particular point.

You'd just like to see it more. However, that's the least of our issues at the moment.

We’ve utterly wasted him this season and he’s still got 16 goals.

Clueless.

Fair play to the Leeds fans - they have really got behind their team tonight. They have kept the atmosphere going. I can imagine us going very quiet at home in similar circumstances.

Disagree. Not saying they haven’t been very good; they have. However, they scored in the first minute on a Friday night game and have flew into a bucket load of challenges (and won them all!). Any crowd would be up for this.

Tactic for the season:man gets ball and runs aimlessly until he’s tackled.

Only difference? No Phillips or Barnes.

No passing exchanges. No intricate play or passing triangles.

What is this!?

I’m embarrassed to watch this. The midfield is an utter shambles. What did the manager think was going to happen with that pathetic team selection tonight?

We’ve made a right pig’s ear of this season with the squad we’ve got.

What on earth is that team!?

If we have a flat back four and Adarabioyo LB, god help us.

The biggest compliment I can give him is that we seriously miss him when he is not playing.

In the form of his life at the moment despite us being porous at the back.

Fair play to DM - coped well without key personal and got the tactics spot on.

Thought we took our chances and they missed a few key ones but it's about time we faced a team who don't score two from two shots on goal...

Always risky shutting up shop but even Dean Smith (who made a few condescending comments about our second-half tactics after the game) admitted that they struggled to penetrate our defensive shape.

Also, on the basis of the other results, it was in the 'must win' category too. MUST look to press on against QPR and Sheff U now to keep the pressure on.

Anything other than a win tomorrow and I have a feeling it could be our automatic hopes gone as I cannot see us putting a huge winning streak together.

Prediction: score draw.

Can't plan for your defensive sub needing to be subbed and your striker going off injured???????

What was the point in wasting a substition (Tulloch) in final few minutes? Borderline ridiculous with the game in the balance and we were weathering a storm.

Total wasted chance this. Shocking game management with that Morgan Rogers substitution.

Complete backs to the wall now.

Noticed that - looked odd.

This back three system leaves us all over the place. We’ve been there for the absolute taking. We’ve made a complete mockery of this competition. I’ll say it again, why is Gayle on the bench!?!

Where’s the width!? I don’t really understand what the pattern of play is at the moment, other than give it to Hoolahan and hope for some magic.

Exactly that.

If it stays 0-0 and we don’t bring Gayle on, is there any point in him being on the bench?

Absolute garbage that. Lucky to be 1-0. Where’s the tempo/pattern of play/width?

Must, must do better 2nd half.
