Just been talking to someone from my old days on the groundstaff and his words were " remember how the club was lifted when a certain Mr Giles came into the club to take over from Don Howe, well it feels the same according to his contacts who are still at the club.

I hope he is right.

Gordon Dimbleby was the commercial manager, Alan Everiss was club Secretary and Ray Fairfax was assistant club Secretary upto when I left the club in 1977-8 season.

The Baggies travel on Monday, July 8 to a Spanish hotel and sports complex near the Costa Blanca coastline to continue their build up to the 2019/20 campaign with a week’s training.

They will finish the trip with a friendly against the Europa League quarter-finalists at the Benidorm Municipal Stadium on the evening of Saturday, July 13. A kick-off time has yet to be confirmed but the match will be free admission.

Us the supporters have no choice who the manager is so, all this speculation is no good for your health, just relax, enjoy the summer and sit back and wait.

i dont think the villa will be leaving the Premier league along with the wolves anytime soon with their wealthy owners

If they last longer than 8 seasons in the premier league then you will be right. But I would say even you dont think the vile will do that. On the pop again mate.  ;)

I've been out most of the morning and got back at about 11:00 AM. As I was going in the house, a neighbour from over the road shouted to me. He is a vile supporter and a really nice man. I do like him as a person and we've had chats throughout the season when we've seen each other and he has been very humble in his assessment ot the vile.

Howsever, this morning, I couldn't believe I was talking to the same person, now the line is,

1. we had the best squad in the Championship
2. we should have won the division
3. we have very rich owners and the £170m for being promoted
4. we will be challenging for Europe
5. we have a squad equal to most teams in the PL, barring Citeh and the pool, but our owners will spend big like them
6. we have a great manager in Smith who will ensure we storm the PL
7.the squad has more PL quality players than not

At that point I switched off and thought to myself, you know AlbionFan (not my real name) they are all the same, a mixture of ego, arrogance and delusional fantasist. The saving grace was another neighbour, who is Bluenose came out and said, you'll be straight back down with that side and your manager, words I was too polite to voice but was thinking.

But hey-ho I can but live in hope they get battered every week. Unfortunately, I wont have the pleasure of the humbleness next season as he is moving house in a few weeks. I did ask him to name the vile team that won the European Cup and he couldn't and he actually was at the game. So, I named the team for him, but I couldn't tell what his overinging thoughts were between being impressed with me or embarrassed with himself

AlbionFan  I also had a few words with a vile fan yesterday in the pub, he was giving it the big un, done me head in so had to tell him what I thought of the vile scum from Witton.

Got home and a neighbour who is a vile fan was shouting out his bedroom window, "that showed you Albion fans" and another load of comments which I just turned a deaf un to.

I hope the villa become the cannon fodder of the Premier League and then lets hear the vile scum from Witton then.

Got more chance of seeing Lord Lucan at the Albion than Lai.

Or even Devon Baggie  ;) ;D

I am still arguing with vile fans about the two play off games and pray that they get hammered on Monday.

Come on chaps, this is the Albion we are talking about here, we all know its going to be Appleton.... :(

Kev I would be very surprised if it was anyone else but the Albion have a habit of surprising me.

Gayle has no affiliation to this club so is not going to take a wage cut to come to us, yeah he probably enjoyed most of his loan spell but his next move will be his last big one, he's 28 and there will be clubs that are prepared to pay for him and give him the wages he's currently on or maybe better depending where he goes so no way will he take a pay cut.

He's also still got 2 years left at Newcastle so any fee will be more than we realistically can be spending at this stage.

It did also say we cannot sign him permanently so there is still hope that we can do something to get him back on loan depending on what happens with Rondon going there and then maybe next Summer if a miracle happens and we do go back up we can look at a perm deal but if someone else comes in he will go there if its right for him.

OldburyWBA fully agree with your post.

Yes we are disappointed with the news, but just wish our fans would look at all the facts before shouting for everyone to get the bed sheets out ( Facebook at it again ).

Sitting here thinking about the two games I still cannot for the life of me understand why Gayle was booked for not sprinting to take a throw in, I would love to know how many players have been booked for this offence in all four leagues.

Can’t see past villa going up now  :(

I am utterly gutted at losing to the vile scum and to lose on penalties has made it ten times worse, but I aye come on here to moan about the players, the managers we have had, nor the board, not even the useless catering staff on the concourse of the East Stand. I aye even going to moan that there was no Bathams on sale last night.

I have come on here to say I was so proud of our fans last night, the atmosphere was brilliant,  aye seen it like that for many a year.

ATID and as always SOTV

Does anyone know if the hawthorns express run for this game, dont think I can watch sober!!

I believe they are but check with Dave Holloway.

You got knocked down during the celebrations and banged your head

I saw you fall and ran down from the top of the lower tier to you.

Tried to make sure that nobody trampled on you at first as everyone was excited

When the Police arrived fans started arguing with them as they were under the impression that you was being escorted out

I politely told them to get lost  :D

When you held my hand and shut your eyes I thought you was Jed :-X

Glad to see you keeping well though

The only part of the highlighted part of the post that scares me is that I held your hand.  :o

Joking apart mate thanks for your help.
