General Football & Sports / Re: Adam Johnson court case

I'm sorry but I don't agree with this at all. The responsibility lies entirely on the adult in this situation. The law is there to protect minors as they are not old enough to give their consent, even if they think they are "grown up" enough to be in those places.  I'm not saying you should be checking for ID, but you can't be laying blame/responsibility on the victim.

I would feel extremely sorry for a 20 year old who slept with a 15 year old he met in a club / bar unaware. However I don't think they would get a custodial sentence so the punishment would be tailored to the crime. The club itself would have to take some responsibility for not policing underage drinking, as I think would the parents and so should the 15 year old.

The AJ case was not that scenario though so not sure why its been brought up. He was well aware of the girls age.

I am in a quandary here. Working on Friday night in York so my only way of getting match action is this commentary. However, I have a self imposed ban on listening to the station due to the racism claims. Haven’t decided what to do yet.

I wouldn't know exactly what's gone on behind the scenes as far as the managerial search is concerned, so I couldn't really make an informed call on that one at this point.

Double agreed.

Our "fans" are among the most small minded, apathetic, fans in the country. Always an excuse.

Why? Well, let's put it this way if Tom Silk or Paul Thompson had been chairman at the Albion for any length of time we'd have a 40,000 stadium and a home average of 30,000 now.

Forty years of "being talked down" affects peoples subconscious. Look at Wolves 30,000 every week now. That hasn't happened since ........... when? They all believe they'll be challenging for the league very soon. Yes, they will probably fall short but it's ambition, it's pride, it's feel good, it's a yearning to be involved in the journey.

Ambition. What do we have? There's no money to spend, we're an average Championship club (Peace).

This club has so much untapped potential. It makes you cry. Talked down all the time, every single time.

I pretty much totally agree with this. Us and Wolves are I think very similar in size and stature, the difference is they allow themselves to think big, unrealistically at times but they dream. Whereas we hold ourselves back and always have done. The flip side to this though, is that we have have never gone into administration, or had to have whip rounds to save the club, or two sides of the ground closed off, or had to start again like some clubs have.

It would be nice to dream and think big just once.

I heard similar too, that Board wanted Jones to go, Moore said no or they will go together. Board was happy to keep DM on and bring another experienced head, but DM showed his loyalty to Jones.

Seems to be alot of rumours that are very similar, so i think it is possibly safe to say this is what has happened.
This seems feasible unless you factor in the rumour that Jones had already agreed to go to Luton, because, if this were true, Moore would have been looking for a new assistant come May anyway so the loyalty would have been futile.

I'm hardly ever underwhelmed any more, because I never expect too much.

Of course I believe that there will be more choice of managers at the end of the season. I don't have the statistics but I'm pretty sure that more managers are between jobs after the end of the season than they are in February and the following couple of months. Look at the likes of Garry Monk (just the first example that came to mind). Pretty sure the likes of him would be looking for a job with better prospects and would feel more comfortable doing it at seasons end, instead of doing the dirty on a club part way through a season. There will be many managers looking for fresh opportunities etc etc.

Don't want to get in the way of your bashing session of the board though, so please continue as you were :)
So you think the board have got this spot on then?

It also raises another issue. I think the law needs to change and put some responsibility on the girls who chase and pressure men into things like this. Yes, guys shouldn't even put themselves in situations, but I used to work at a secondary school and I had to deal with a lot of issues where the girls used to use their older sibling's driving licence to gain entry to night clubs. So even if a guy thought "she's hot but she looks young", she's inside an 18+ night club so the guys wouldn't think anything of it.

This is exactly how I feel.

It's my partners due date today so with another baby due any time in the coming days, renewing my seat is the very bottom of my to-do list so I'm pretty much guaranteed to lose the seat I've had for the last 9 years. The harsh reality is though the club couldn't care if you've had the seat for the last 50 years and not missed a single game... it just highlights how the club are willing to treat their loyal supporters.

Ridiculous marketing by the club once again but that's no surprise when your a West Brom fan is it.
