Not surprised, I've been saying for months that he's a better fullback than Reid.

I think Reid has done a superb job since he's come into the team and is a key reason as to why we have picked up so many points in recent games IMO. Jara was looking like a liability before he was pulled out of the team, positionally poor and erratic on the ball. Reid has been far more steady and consistent and certainly more assured defensively. I'd pick him over Jara every time.

I didn't go to the game so can't comment on his overall performance, but from the highlights he appeared to show some nice touches. Great vision and pass to set up Odemwingie for the goal and some good work down the left to set up Morrisons chance in the second half.

I think people need to remember that the lad has played very little football this year and will likely need a couple of games to get up to the speed of things. He'll be all the better for that 90 minutes under his belt and in the absence of Dorrans should start in that attacking midfield position in the next game IMO.

The likes of Olsson and Mulumbu have bee very good all season IMO and they've continued that under RH. For me Steven Reid has been inspirational these last few games and has confirmed most peoples oppinion that he should have had a lot more game time this season. His defensive performances against Stoke and Blues have been impressive but he's also contributed two assists with his willingness to get forward.

Scharner is another who seems to be benefitting from Roys more organised approach. We all know his attacking attributes  aren't the best but his defensive attributes appear more at home in the current system. His second half performance against Blues was outstanding.

Hi Guillem! As a Barcelona supporter i have grown tired of the Cesc saga. I feel they should let him stay at Arsenal. As an alternative why don't they go for Borja Valero? That guy is damn good. I watched them playing Madrid at the Bernabeu and he tormented them. I don't even know how they lost that game. Borja is at the peak of his career and he will come cheap compared to Cesc. I know he is a product of Madrid but the way he plays is similar to Barca. What do you think? Xolani Mkhize (Barcelona fan)

GUILLEM SAYS: Valero will be a wanted man in the summer, Xolani. I think Barcelona will go for him if Arsenal don't accept 40-45m for Cesc; he would be the perfect player to bring a bit more creativity to midfield. But Barcelona may face competition from Chelsea and it would be great to see him partner Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge.

Inspirational in every aspect. Another player who has been shamefully under utilised this season. Looked streets ahead of Jara defensively and offered us good delivery going forward.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Mulumbu is essential to us.
« on: February 20, 2011, 04:54:38 PM »
He gives us energy and drive and competativeness in midfield.  Without him we are incredibly lightweight.

Today I feel that we had to be competative in midfield but I'm not sure a 4-4-2 is the answer without Mulumbu.

That's the biggest thing for me. His energy rubs off on the team in general and we seem to be much more lively and 'up for it' when he's playing. We need to keep him and Dorrans fit for the rest of the season as I believe they have the potential to form a very effective midfield pairing

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Paul Scharner? Should he be dropped?
« on: February 20, 2011, 04:51:48 PM »
He offers good defensive cover but he give us absolutely nothing offensively (aside from his aerial threat). His passing is laboured, often sideways and usually completely uninspiring. With Mulumbu injured however I think Roy had very little option but to play him given that we have no other DM.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Peter Odemwingie
« on: February 20, 2011, 04:49:28 PM »
For some reason Pete was played on the right wing today, I just cant understand it personally. It was like playing with both Brunt and Pete on the right wing and being short in the middle?

It was definitely a 442 for the first 65 minutes. Odemwingie has a tendancy to drift out wide but his starting point was definitely through the middle. When Vela came on we seemed to move towards a 443 with Odemwingie then positioned more on the right.

The criticism of Fortune in the stands, on here and on the radio is completely over the top IMO. He didn't have the best of games today but he worked hard, ran the channels very well and generally got into some good positions. His touch and general ability let him down at times but I think he has a very important part to play between now and the end of the season. He certainly wasn't helped by a very poor performance from his striker partner Odemwingie.

The fact they had so much possession was mainly because they had an extra man in midfield. They still only had 2/3 shots in the entire game. It's alright having possession of the football but if you're not hurting the opposition then it's essentially a pointless exercise. Surely us of all team should be familiar with this.

Saying that, there's no getting away from the fact that we were poor today. Our ball controll and final ball were dreadfull at times. IMO the balance of the side didn't look right with Scharner in the middle of the park and we badly missed Mulumbus energy.

Fortune got into some good positions but his touch and hold up play let him down whilst Odemwingie was awful for the second game running. Thomas was shackled by Zubar, Brunt was largely anonymous and serious doubts remain about Tamas. Shorey and Olsson were both stand out performers IMO.

In the circumstances it was a good point but 3 points from hojme fixtures against West Ham, Wigan and Wolves simply isn't good enough. Whilst the remaining fixtures are tough we need to keep the faith. Any talk of us already being relegated is both ridiculous and premature.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Now Hodgson is going 442.....
« on: February 18, 2011, 05:32:17 PM »
Fortune and Odemwingie need to be given a run IMO. Fortune's done pretty well the last two games and deserves to keep the shirt. His touch isn't the best but he gives us a physical presence up front, allied with decent pace and good hold up play.

Odemwingie was poor against West Ham but with 9 goals to his name deserves to start at present. Vela could arguably be deployed on the wing in a 442 although there are question marks as to how much defensive cover he'd provide.

Hodgson wasn't my choice at all I wanted Jol or Hughton. I was perfectly happy when Hughton was 1/20 with the bookmakers, within no time we appointed Hodgson who like McLaren is a "never was" apart from one good season with Fulham. Can see this all going wrong.  ::)

A never was?! He's managed Inter TWICE?!

plus he's got to two Euro cup finals and managed at international level on three ocassions.... There are hardly any managers out there with better records?!

I meant a never was in domestic football. The continent is a completely different thing. Should've made that clearer, sorry my bad!

Fulham? Saving them from certain relegation, finishing in the European places the following season then taking them to the final of a European competition the year after that. Pretty impressive stuff.

Totally peeded off with this appointment i got a feeling theres is going to be alot of booing sunday afternoon.
gawd help us.

Booing for Hodgson? ??? Who did people expect us to bring in? I honestly feel he's a fantastic appointment given the position we are in. Eactly the sort of experienced head we need. He will get us organised and make us harder to beat without compromising our footballing philosophy. Just a shame he's not taken the reigns with us 2 points better off after that shambolic second half display last week....
