West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Your worst Albion game?

Wimbledon 0-1 2003-04

Yup, same for me, my first truly awful performance witnessed as an Albion fan I think. The fact they had literally 10 fans in the whole away end didn't help matters, nothing but an eerie silence and 2 blokes hugging when they scored!

My first season ticket was the first year we went up (what a way to begin! I remember going a couple of times years before as well, Sneekes, Ballis, Big Dave. My favourite used to be Scott Dobie as a kid for some reason!), So all I've known really is going up and down, and I think that makes me more partial to frustration when we fail to stay up, it's tiring for the young fans and I'm sure 20 years down the line I'll be moaning at the younger generation saying "you're not real fans, I had to deal with relegation after relegation!". It's just the way it is, we all know the same Albion but different era's and players etc, it's easy to remember "the dark ages" and tell us all to be grateful, but we've never experienced that, the highs are all we know and that's only because of age for me, not glory hunting! It's also the reason Wolves are the real enemy in my opinion.

I think it also explains the want for a "legend", say Paul Robinson. I used to buy into the whole "ROBBO ROBBO!" lark because other than Big Dave (and his career was on a slide by the time i watched, still a hero of mine though) I never really got to see a "legend" in Albion colours

Still, I believe we can stay up again after the Dingles and Stoke matches, and I'm grateful we're in the best league in the world  :D

I've just done the predictor without updating it until the end, being pretty harsh on us on the whole (bar a 3-1 win at the dingles  ;D) and it came out as:

17th - West Brom
18th - Dingles
19th - West Ham
20th - Wigan

With us staying up by 1 goal difference over the dingles  :-X

After the first 60 minutes I was convinced the dingles would go and sneak a 2nd at another set-piece and we'd be here with 50% of us (me included) dooming us to relegation. And if Hodgson hasn't seen how important Vela could be to us in trying to stay up after today I'm not sure he ever will. Vela needs to play, for all Fortune's efforts he just doesn't score. We can't keep banking on someone to chip in with assisting Odemwingie, we need someone to score some vital goals and I just can't see him doing that unless it bounces in off his backside!

Defensively we looked more comfortable, Tamas is visibly down on confidence but on the whole I was fairly pleased (bar the set piece dilemma), although it was "only" Wolves. I still fear the worst for both us and the dingles, but hopefully better performances will come with time

It's going to be a scrap either way, and I think we have to show more fight in every fixture until the end of the season, but who knows that late equaliser might be enough to lift the dressing room and get them believing again...

Vela  :-*

Can't help but wonder what would've happened had we bought him on at half-time, but crucial equaliser and hopefully a turning point in the season, I#ll gladly eat all my negative words, delicious.

im sorry but we really have looked a very poor team today. yes roy we let to many goals in but we have been so poor. going down im afraid.

Afraid I have to agree, it just doesn't feel like it's going to change, especially with fortune on the pitch. I'm sorry but I'm fed up of people defending him, he's been nothing but a disappointment whenever I've seen him play this year. It just feels like last time we were in the premiership...And the time before...Same old story. It's games like these which will see us relegated, the classic "hard luck guys we gave it a go, we had chances". At the end of the day it's not enough to simply create and miss chances, we just haven't got even a little bit of the ruthlessness required to stay in the league in my opinion

Off the line  :( I just can't see it happening.

Time for Vela to come on surely. Fortune offers absolutely nothing in terms of a goal threat, and realistically we need 2...

Fotune needs to come off. Surely.
