West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Our poorest owner

Paul Thompson laid the foundations for the success we have had over the last 10 years or so. He often gets overlooked.
;D Had a beer with Paul in Sydney,at an "ozzbaggy" function. Lovely bloke and I told him who to buy and who to sell? after one or two too many beers.
I don't think he listened to me though.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Graham Dorrans Joins Norwich City

He was looking good just before he got his injury, plus I think that the advanced role we currently play is just made for him. Hopefully with a full pre-season he'll be back to his best.
;D He is our Jim Baxter or Graham Lovett. If anyone has not heard of these players, they should ask some older baggy supporters about them.....they were very gifted players and played a similar game as Dorrans does.

I dont.

Brilliant coach clearly, but lets be honest when you look over his back catalogue of transfers at Fulham and Liverpool he was usually wrong, or at best overpaid (eg the ones he bought from us)

I hope its DA and JP making the transfer decisions, not RH
:o Yes I trust Roys' decision in every matter. He is the best Manager we have had at the club since Alan Ashman and Johnny Giles.....and that is going back a bit.

I would have loved to see Ronnie Allen in his prime, scored all his Albion goals in the top division, and from what i"ve been told a class act.
Scored a hatrick v Wolves in the charity shield!!
Not bad.
Agree with this but Bobby Hope was some player. As Bill Shankly once said "Stop Bobby Hope and you stop Albion". He was a magician with the ball, with a fantastic pass.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Watering the pitch

I'd imagine there instructed to do so by Hodgson.
;D It is a well known tactic.Stan Cullis did it in the 1950's against Honved.Watered the pitch for 2 days so it was like a bog..hoping Honved couldn't cope.
Seemed to work as Wolves won the match.

;D Old Gold with black shorts ????........Nah! only kidding!!!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Missing Relegation

;D What a fantastic year...I am so proud of the club and the players, for playing their hearts out and reaching their high standards in the Premier League.
A couple of important things we need to remember over the past season are the following points.
1. I saw my team play for the first (time) in the flesh at The Hawthorns (since 1968) beating Liverpool 2-1 (a fantastic day).I was at Wembley , though ,to see us lose 1-0 to Portsmouth in the Cup semi-final.

2.The changing of Manager in February. I was at first upset about RDM getting the sack.
But in hindsight, was the best and bravest decision JP has made in his time at the club.

3. On a similar note,West Ham going down after "not' changing their manager.(ironic)
To rub salt into the wound by Sullivan and Gold telling Dorrans to come and play for a "big" club, like West Ham,for a paltry amount in Transfer terms. Whose having a laugh now?
I watched most games live at 2am in the morning or 5am (evening games) and felt part of the supporters and the club in what was a most exciting season.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: realistic aim for next season?

One place higher than this!
;D Would be happy with 10th or 11th, at least we should be above the 3 promoted sides and a couple of underachievers like Blues,Blackburn,Stoke and Villa.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Red Strip
« on: April 28, 2011, 06:17:34 AM »
;D We have nearly always done exceptionally well when we don the red strip.
I for one am extremely happy when we wear it.
When they ran out at Spurs i knew we would get a result.

All of this season's matches.
FA Cup Final 1968 went to all the rounds and semi-final...could not get a Final ticket.....tragic
