Foster-3 bottled it when it counted.

Reid -6 Steady,consistant.

Tamas-5 Hoof ball for clearances, should have thumped ball out at the end.

Olsson-9 Superb...even in attack he had a go.Needs a good partner quickly.

Shorey-6 Usual score.gets caught upfield a bit when loses possesion.

Brunt-5 Not at the races today..poor game by his standards.

Mulumbu-7 Not his normal 9 today.Tried to get attack going in second half.

Scharner-7 Steady,took a few knocks.Was always there.

Morrison-4 Good start,poor options,lightweight,faded as usual second half.Needs a break.

Long-6 Tried hard with scraps of chances.A good chance early on with header.

Tchoyi-6 Good 1st half.Faded 2nd half.would like to see him come on for last 20 minutes of games as a surpise factor. Not a starter.

Apart from Scharner, Olsson and Mulumbu I thought they were all crap today. Why Morrison starts over Dozza is beyond me.
>:( My thoughts exactly.Morrisson starts brightly then fades after half-time and is easily brushed off the ball. By 60 mins he is walking around.
Dorrans is by far the better option.

;D 10.10.1964 Albion v Wolves 5-1 to us. Astles first home game. Absolutely got me in as a Baggies supporter.

6 nil, when Goodman and Bartlett got a couple each (I think) I was sitting in the Old Rainbow Stand with me old man!
;D 6-2 to us 1966 (I think). We use to beat them in those days.

:D Thought he has had a great start to the season...was safe as against Chelski..even the little trot from goal to put Anelka off his shot was very positive.

I for one don't feel nervous when teams attack us,as I have faith in Foster as being a very good goalkeeper. It flows to the defence as well...you can see the confidence they have with him behind them.

;D Can see 30 goals from Long, Pete and Tchoyi this season easily...plus what Gera, Mulumbu, Dorrans,Morrison,Scharner and Brunt can get.

I was also one of those doubters who thought that we paid too much for a Championship player....now I will eat my hat....after I have taken it off for Shane Long.

Got to be Morrison I feel. Not creative enough...puts in a shift, but very predictable on what he is going to do next.

Good workrate (always knackered at the end). His place is crying out for a Gera or Dorrans for more dynamic play and unpredictability.

Good honest toiler and should be in the team as a sub or in against poorer opposition.

« on: August 23, 2011, 04:27:27 AM »
Yes....i think the lad has talent and some magic in them feet
:D Love the turn and shoot technique ala Chelsea.....a foot either side of Hilarious (Hilario) and would have been in.

Morrison is in no way very poor, and but for a few of our fans who get upset that he's not a flair player and generally just keeps things ticking over, he's very highly rated. 3 separate managers have made him a key part of our side, Levein has him ahead of Dorrans for Scotland.

Dorrans is obviously a good player but the way people pick apart Morrison's game in favour of Dorrans is stupid. If Dorrans had made that run and cross for Scharner everyone would be raving about it.
;D Think Morrison is keeping the seat warm for Zolly....he will run Mid-field in September.

;D Divinewind come back on. You are the same vintage as me and we need some old heads to tell these kids a thing or two about Albion and our great history.

I enjoy your banter, and you make some good points....keep on the Forum lad!!!

I will never forget Darren Bradley's against them who play in funny Hull City colours.

But Tony Brown always springs to mind for spectacular goals.
;D There is only one......Bomber !!! Hit the sweetest shots in the world.Check out youtube for Tony Brown( Bombers) 14 goals.

Still outstanding by todays standard.

Personally I would like to see Dorrans replace Morrison in the team, I feel he will more effective in any position in the midfield. I could see Gera becoming effective on either wing or just behind the striker. I would choose Dorrans over Gera currently, giving Dorrans a chance to find his form again, I do feel Dorrans and Gera can both find a place to feature in the starting 11 together.

Dorrans and Gera both in the 11 together could lose an essential part of our team though, Scharner works well with Mulumbu so with Scharner being replaced that could leave us more vulnerable, also i think we must play one of Tchoyi or Thomas simply for being able to beat a man, Finally Brunt also fills a vital role in our team so it is difficult.

It is going to be interesting to see how the shape of the team unfolds in the coming weeks and who vacates each position on a more regular basis.
;D Think we might have got a result if Dorrans had come on for the last 20 mins for Morrisson (who looked knackered at the end).Always gives a good ball and strong on the ball.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Roys' body language
« on: August 15, 2011, 03:58:44 AM »
::) Normally Roy,stands or sits, with an expressionless face....but yesterday he seemed agitated? Questioned throw-ins ? Moaned at the ref at times?

I guess its passion for the team and our success.....but I wonder if he is troubled about the Odemwingie situation?
By all rights he should have been fit to play against Manure??

Roy seems adament he is staying, when quoting to the press...but maybe he knows different and is not happy about it?

We all hope JP looks after Pete, because we will have a fantastic attack with Pete and Long together.

I think reassurance that Roy and JP are getting on like a house on fire would ease the wonder.

 8) I was wondering, especially with Gera coming back,if other players coming back to
Albion for a second stint have been a success?
I can't think of anyone who has come back before.
Can anyone throw any light on the subject?

Oh sorry, hadn't seen that article. Wow, he actually isn't that far off being West Ham's 100th choice keeper :o. I wouldn't take this 'rumour' too seriously, it cites 'sources from his homeland' which suggests its probably just his agent trying to get his player noticed. Also it states that Boaz Myhill is likely to be our number one next season, which of course is total bullsh*tness. Maybe as second choice keeper he'd be a decent option, but considering how ambitious we've been so far in our keeper search (Given, McGregor, Eduardo, Green arguably...) there's no way we'd be after one of West Ham's reserve keepers as our numero uno.
;D Do not panic,as mentioned for a 3rd time,Schwarzer is packing his bags.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Negativity v reasons to be cheerful
« on: June 30, 2011, 07:40:44 AM »
I am fairly new to this forum and I do understand that forums polarize opinions - both good & bad, but in all honesty I'm staggered by the amount of negativity being shown...

Didn't we have our best season in the Premiership EVER last year, or did I imagine that? Isn't it good that we have players that big teams are being linked to - or would it be better to have players no one wants? And isn't it better that we are run on a stable financial footing rather than risking our very future like the Hammers & blue noses. :D I think it is in our nature to moan and groan about things at the club or the players....has been the same for a 120 years, and I don't think it will change.
We are West Midlanders and even though we have success,we have to have a moan (even if inside we are very happy).Nature of the beast I'm afraid.

I know people are annoyed that Odemwingie hasn't pledged the rest of his career to us immediately & that Mulumbu hasn't ruled out the possibility of ever leaving, but these are professional footballers & not fans of the Baggies. If it were you or me then I'm sure we'd stay at the Hawthorns for life, because we are fans of the club, but I don't think its fair to complain about players considering their relatively short career. Especially when most of it is just paper-talk & gossip. But they've not gone yet gave they?

In the same way players considering joining the club have to think about their careers not to mention their families. Maybe they are "mercenary", but unless we are going to have a fans only team it will always be the case. And if they show loyalty & passion on the field can we really ask anymore?

Actually it seems we demand perfection from our keepers & defenders. I know at times they were undeniably crap last year but I think most of them do give their all & it would be nice to get behind them rather than get on at them (like the Dingles or Seals).

And then there is the design & price of the replica kit - wrong pattern stripes, wrong colour away shirt, too expensive... To me its simple - if you don't like the design or the price then just don't buy it & stick with what you've got! It's always been for profit, but if we are to establish ourselves as a premiership club for the future years the harsh reality is that we will have to get used to premiership prices!

And finally the "skin-flint" chairman. People are moaning that he isn't being ambitious enough & we aren't flashing the cash like other clubs. But in my opinion I'd rather have a careful steward than one who puts us at risk of having to get flogged to someone from overseas who would most certainly only be interested in the money in our pockets. And anyway, whos to say we won't spend money when the time is right & the players are available - we have til 31st August!!

I know everyone has the right to express their opinions (like I am now) & that I'll probably get criticism for this post, but all I want to say is seriously lads, its not all doom & gloom! We had a great season last year & I believe we'll kick on now! We are Albion & will always be better than the Dingles & the Vile fans. so let's just be happy about that & stay cheerful!! Come on you Baggies!
