Meek acceptance on the Newcastle boards. Relegated by Allardyce with Pardew contesting the cup final. You reap what you sow.

Am I right in thinking this will break Allardyce's never relegated record as well?

Would be good to get to some of the grounds that we don't often get to go to. Does anyone know what the process is for getting pre season tickets? Is it a case of just buying on the day usually?

Hopefully he'll be utilised as more of an outlet for counter attacks next season, think that's something we've badly missed. Of course this depends on who will be the full back behind him. Someone mentioned in another thread that our wingers are having to constantly help cover the full back which stifles their attacking threat when we do gain possession.

Looks like Norwich and Newcastle down then. All decided before the final game

I imagine the squad numbers have to be confirmed before the season starts early August and Ideye was still here until the end of that month so would have kept it at the time with Rondon having the number 33 confirmed, not sure if you can change them after the season starts or not.

Good point, I didn't realise we didn't sell Ideye until 31St August, thought he'd gone long before then

Rondon will be changing to number 9 next season from number 33. Interesting we didn't have a registered number 9 this season, Brown Ideye wore the shirt the year before.

There was something mentioned in the assembly minutes from last month:

Costings have now been gathered and major artwork is now planned for the interior and exterior of The Hawthorns in time for next season.
Members were shown artist impressions of how this artwork might look to general approval. One idea was for 300 Club members to be among the players chosen for the branding.

There's also something there about possibly relocating the throstle to accommodate more disabled bays in Woodman Corner but only says that's one of their options.

Great counter attacking goal that by united

A price freeze was the best we could have  expected really. As has been said I doubt the club would want to intentionally make less money. £21 a game isn't bad. Many fans have been supporting twenty's plenty campaign for away tickets

Yeah I see the West Ham fans couldn't help themselves. As Souness was saying those are the pictures that'll be beamed around the world overshadowing the day and game

I think it looks pretty nice. However the £50 price for just the shirt. To fill the nice space on the back with a number a name it's another £15 too. Can't remember the last t shirt I spent £65 on!

Bloody hell, sorry for the lad, terrible luck.

get well soon george.

Indeed, he's had awful luck with injuries. My mate's a Derby fan and he has nothing but praise for him when he's fit, shame he seems to always be injured

Yeah I've always thought going hard and high is the best bet. Could also be that the quality of goalkeeping has improved, although agree with you that there do seem to be some awful penalties taken recently. Just found a site that lists all the penalty stats for the premier league and from '92-02 there were 5 or less missed each season. After 03 it's between 10-20 per season - maybe coincides with us in the Premier League  8)

What's happened to the art of penalty taking anyway ?
Leaving us out of it, recently I've seen very poor penalties (worse than Gardners) from Lakaku, Muller and Torres...not a bad trio of players.

Is it the keepers being off their line ? Is it the balls ...the taker so afraid of it flying over the top that they don't hit it properly ?

I think it's players trying to be a bit too clever with them. Should be relatively simple really, a free shot from 12 yards with only the keeper in the way. When I watch highlights from older seasons a lot of penalties are hit as hard and solidly as possible.

Although could also be a mentality thing, with the importance of individual penalties to the outcomes of games nowadays.

Don't mind the time wasting near the end of the game if we're holding on for a win. But a couple of times this season I've seen us time waste pre 80 minutes when there's still time to go for a winner

It's a bit different as we didn't know he wasn't going to be there the following season.

He was also there for 3 years and won the league and 2 cups with them

Just as a foot note to your post, I don't think he's overly keen on Jürgen Klopp either.

Got a bit heated between them both at Anfield. Think Klopp refused to shake hands as well after the game.

It's not the most tackles stat that worries me, it's the high level of silly fouls given away in dangerous areas

He's also committed the 3rd most fouls in the division this season

Rondon also didn't take a penalty earlier on this season against Chelsea when Morrison missed. Thought it was strange at the time as I'd have thought he would have wanted to try to get off the mark for us.

While Yacob does make a lot of tackles, I still personally think he gives away too many fouls. His successful tackle rate this season is 61.6%, Sandro is 71.4%. Fletcher's is much worse at 53.6%. I've included other players below:

McAuley - 82.7%
Evans -    76.9%
Olsson -   72.7%
Sandro -   71.4%
Chester -  71.1%
Gardner -  64.1%
Sess -       63.3%
Morrison - 61.9%
Yacob -     61.6%
Brunt -      58%
Dawson -   58%
McClean -   55%
Fletcher -   53.6%

I think he could even be a good upgrade on Yacob. Seems to have the technical skills to play the ball intelligently as well as the ability to break the play up which is key if we are going to focus on counter attacking. Think he hasn't featured as much as he's been getting up to speed fitness wise, after a full intensive pre-season I think we'd see him become more of a regular starter if he stays.

For the position he plays, it's expected that Yacob will give away a few fouls, but he seems to constantly give them away in dangerous positions ala Mulumbu, and is top of our discipline table with nearly double the amount of fouls given away than McClean in 2nd (59 to 34 in the league). He also has the most yellow cards. I'm aware Sandro has only featured in around a third of the amount of games (12) as Yacob (33) but has only given away 5 fouls in that time without any bookings.
