West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: 45 Years Ago Today

I wonder what the people there then would say if we told them in 45 years time we wouldn't have won any other major trophies  :(

As long as the home is blue and White, the away isnt gold and black and we are winning in it I couldnt care less what it looked like! ;D

I rate him, he was an excellent player, but I mean he wasn't up there with the best of the best. I think for everything he does he is a great role model and would be happy for him to be knighted.

Great bloke! I like how he gives something back to the game and I think he will continue to.

A lot of people saying one of the greatest players ever.......In terms of ability not for me.

Apparently a few Man U fans will be there without a ticket, how many exactly?

Id expect hundreds load on twitter saying they are going without a ticket, I can see there being a bit of trouble on sunday

Hardly any programmes are worth anything post war as there were plenty issued so they aren't rare.

Do Swansea go straight into the group stages or do they have to play a play off game to go through?

At least one play off, maybe 2.

Football is mad, a bad few months and fans ask for managers to be sacked. I really do hate the 'quick fix' culture! Surely football fans patience hasn't always been like this.

City finished 2nd and got to an FA cup final and now have sacked the person who won their first trophy and league title for 40 years, its utter madness.

It is impossible for managers to be in jobs for more than a couple of years due to fans patience and unrealistic expectations, and unfortunately I know it will be exactly the same at The Hawthorns next season if we dont start as good as this season  :-X

He's a nob! Says all that then states that Mcmanaman's tackle a few weeks ago was fine!

After seeing it again on MOTD2 it really was one of the worst performances I have witnessed for a good few years!

Unfortunatley the same as the other 12 teams who finish below 7th, the aim will be to stay up. Once that is achieved then we can look to see how far we can go. In my opinion everyone except for the top 7 could be in a relegation battle, look at Newcastle who would have thought they would be in the position they are after last season.

He has obviously got allot of hard work to do in the summer months. Our form since the end of November has been dire, carry this form into the start of next season and its uphill from the off

I agree, bit of perspective at last. As others have said big summer!

Dont get me wrong there is a few things he needs to improve but some fans make me laugh they never talk football its either; we win - 'great season so lucky to be an Albion fan for seasons like this' or next week we lose - 'Manager out'! Its laughable.  ;D

If they weren't going to be bothered for it and couldn't give a toss they should have said before 2,400 fans paid to go. Shocking performance!

Its not Knee jerk. Roys momentum has now gone. This bloke is clueless.Never wanted him from the day his name was mentioned.I will be gone by November. Now lost more than last season. No fight no bottle no idea. The media keep saying what a season we have had.Average at best

Our highest position for 35 years is average?? You summed up your post nicely at the start - knee jerk. When we announced Clarke I remember you saying we would be in a relegation battle, proved you wrong big time there hasnt he!

?

He was one of their longest serving players, club captain and somebody who apparently was always good with the fans when he met them in person.

I don't understand in what way it was sickening.

A supposedly fit and healthy footballer who was very popular with fans gets struck down with life threatening cancer. I think their response has been entirely justified and respectful.

An in effect, football goes out of the window, it just seems morally right that his employers and the club supporters would rally around him.

Thats the problem before his illness he wasn't very popular at all he was constantly slagged off by the fans and they wanted him gone but they dont mention that anymore and pretend it never happened probably through guilt.

Anyway, all the best Stan, wish you a long healthy life and hope that you are free from that horrible illness for the rest of your life.

It will be tough for Moyes.
He'll have (quite literally) Fergie's shadow over him all the time.
Has any manager ever won the Premiership in their first season in charge of a club?

Mourinho at Chelsea! I think it an impossible job.

If Fergie was in charge next season and in November they were 6 points off top nothing would be said, if that happens next season fans will be asking for them to be sacked, I guarentee you.

Everton can have Steve Clarke once Moyes sods off,
christ knows how we are still in 8th position.
Shane Long and McAuley score against Wigan then he puts them on the bench against Man City,
the bloke is clueless.
Any other manager with Odemwingie, Fortune, Lukaku, Rosenberg, and Long at their disposal would
of finished in the top 5.

Mate you're just trolling now, find something else to do instead of boring us!

I knew the bloke was thick but taking your wife and kid and sitting her in the front row when he knows what will be chanted about him is plain stupid. The worst thing about it is that it is his own fault. Tool!

A lot of talk on Twitter and a lot of Albions Facebook pages have said about the Dave Matthews tribute and with the feedback it looks like the majority going will be doing that.

Karl Henry isnt fit to lace George Thorne's boots never mind Mulumbu or Yacob and that is no way disrespectful to Thorne.

None of them come anywhere near the standard of our players, they are just a team full of losers, just what their 'supporters' deserve!
