If some Egyptian with 80 million to spend can buy Hull City I'm sure there's hope for us!
Difference is Hull had debt, were losing money and ripe for conquering. We have no such issues. It's one of those ones. We are too well run to be saleable. In your view kind of a catch 22. we need the club to get worse in order to sell, but need the money in order to improve.

P.S. I thought the reason the FFP rules came into play was to stop teams being carried by a sugar daddy?

For Peace to sell up to someone with a bit of ambition so we can kick on to the next level.
you perhaps?

It's been said before, Peace has tried to sell the club in the past... Nobody was interested.

On the Beckham topic i got no issues with him being knighted.Fully deserves it for me
He won't get a proper knighthood yet (like Seb Coe or Judy Dench is a Dame) but will get an honorary one at New year's at some point. still means the same to Joe Public and even if he doesn't, he's still an OBE. Maybe he could be eligible for Companionship or an Order of Merit in Culture?

Bar the white bands on the arms, I think it'd look quite nice.

Exedus was the best selling book the last time that happened wasn't it?
Exodus... We have a spell check, please use it. ::)

If you are so determined to try and act all high and mighty, please do it with proper spelling a grammar; otherwise you give us further evidence that you're just thick.

You really think this!! :o
yeah, Thorne basically IS a defensive midielder and is good enough cover. When one is out he very easily could have just slotted in.

After Wigan and today i think the answer is yes , 7 soft goals conceded against two struggling sides and not much coming back from us. It maybe I'm annoyed and i've just got in from Norwich cold and damp but i haven't seen such a limp, heartless , gutless performance in seasons , i knew we would be in trouble the moment i saw all three forwards playing again and if 4 3 3 is Clarkes plan for next season i suggest he thinks again.
I  agree with Kris theres no way i would be giving him a mega contract just yet.
I have, Everton New Year's day.

I would say Liverpool was very fortunate indeed
Liverpool last year was fortunate, Liverpool this year was nearly planned.

The defence did their job well, Foster was on fire, and when the turn came, we took every chance we made and let nothing go to waste. We frustrated 'pool, they got more and more offensive and they suffered because of it by leaving too many spaces.

maybe, maybe not. Depends on your attitude. Does football really mean that much to you that you stress yourself over something you cannot control and cannot even predict?

Why replace Pete (A striker/Midfielder) with Dawson (a defender) that doesn't make sense to me especially when we already had two or three defenders on the bench.
For a whole host of reasons, most of which are too rude to post. But the main one is that "Pete", as you choose to call him, is finished at our club  and it is a complete waste of time playing him, plus he is an utter muppet, whereas Dawson is a young guy with huge potential who would benefit from some more first team experience. plus played really well the last match. If you dont get this, I give up.
LoL, I only call him Pete cause it's short, not saying he DESERVES to be there, but tactically why have 3 or so defenders when realistically there should be a good mix of choices for any position. In addition Tamas is the one who's fighting for a new contract so needs to impress otherwise we need a new covering CB or use DD. If we had more wide choices (like Gera was fit) then I'd totally agree Pete shouldn't be there, but we don't and Thomas isn't doing anything for Clarke, so we've got to get through one more game with him (I feel that was his last game on the pitch) and then it's all over and relax as we wait for someone to come in for him.

What the fx&k is Odemwinger still doing in the squad. Come on Clarke give some of the fringe players a chance.
Who else in midfield is he supposed to use? Pete IS a better player than Thomas and he seems destined to leave anyway as well. other than that it's near all our wide midfield options bar using Brown etc. out of position.

wow.. What a way to reject Leicester the play off final, penalty in the dying minutes, double save, then scored on the counter attack. WHAT A GAME!!

He has no bottle.
Why does he constantly have a go at Odemwingie yet still puts him in the squad
When has he had a go? I mean a proper go? The one thing he always DOES say is he's in the squad through necessity due to a small squad size.

we don't have many players who can play the wide role without using academy players who aren't ready.

« on: May 12, 2013, 02:16:27 AM »
Speculate to accumulate for me. If we can't take advantage of big games, we are going to financially fall behind teams like Brighton and Leicester, never mind premier league teams. 22,000 (27500 in big games) in 28,000 for games or 22,000 (33,000 in big games) in 36,000? No brainer.
did you take into account that with the rise in (expected) intake, there will also be a rise in (expected) cost. parking space increases, concession increases, staff number increases,  maintenance costs etc. does it make the increase commercially viable?

Still cant believe Villa will survive with some of the worst players ever to grace the Premier League
Delph, El Ahmadi, Westwood, Bannan, Bowery, Bennett, Holman, Sylla, Viarr, Baker.
I guess the words "greater than the sum of their parts" means nothing to you then?

A bit of vision at last, but you missed one point bigger
Stadium more money for j.p. To get when he does sell
He's tried selling the club before, nobody bid for us cause there was no money to be made in it, making MORE money is the last thing Peace would want to do in order to sell the club, he'd want the club making less.

General Football & Sports / Re: Sky & BT sport for next season
« on: May 10, 2013, 09:12:10 AM »
Not sure if this is the right place so if not please feel free to move it :)

I noticed yesterday that BT are offering BT sports 1 & 2 and ESPN free to all there broadband customers for free.

Having looked at it in more detail you do require BT vision which is an extra £5 a month for their standard service.

So next year BT sports 1 & 2 will offer 38 Premier League games, while ESPN will continue their FA Cup coverage and their american sports coverage.

BT sports + ESPN is available on BT vision (obviously) on Sky (around £12 for Standard and £15 for HD to be paid seperate to your sky bill). However, no agreement has been made to show it via Virgin Media (yet).

Does anyone think this is good for football or is it business as usual?

With the next lot of contracts for games to be up for grabs in 2015 do you think BT will be able to obtain more games?
Probably not, Sky will outbid them by however much is needed to make a point. Maybe in 10 years or so cause this will get them more consumers and more bidding power. However, correct me if I'm wrong, but BT is a cabled internet service (like Virgin) so is still limited in certain areas. If I had it in my area I probably would. but no, they decided to stick cables every where round hear EXCEPT the road it live on, so i'm stuck with sky.  ::)

How so? If a person decides to sell via Viagogo (an official WBA partner for what its worth) then it is up to Viagogo to ensure that the ticket goes to a WBA fan. As Liam eludes to above, if a United fan is daft enough to pay extortionate prices for a ticket then so be it
I'm pretty sure a ST is a non-resalable item, as it is in the owner's name, so you could get done by the club by commercial laws while I'm sure Viagogo also have their own loopholes to get out of responsibility for the sale. match day tickets I'd guess would be ok, as they are generic.

technically this shouldn't be a problem, as Viagogo CLEARLY state on the website, both them and the club have the right to void any tickets suspected to be bought by non- Albion fans. and I'd suspect (if this has been brought to their attention) the club will be stringent in their confirmation of who is who at the turnstiles if people are selling ST's. wouldn't be surprised if there is an announcement a day or two before that secondary identification will be necessary for entry.

At least if I was chairman I would  :P

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Markus Rosenberg
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:11:46 PM »
I have never doubted that Rosenberg is a good player but a bit like Valero I am not sure he is the right player. If Rosenberg is to stay next year then he has to be something more than a squad player and although he has shown some nice touches in his last two outings there is very little to suggest that he is physically capable of leading the line in the lone striker role. He might have a future as the support striker in a 442 or he could drop back into the attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 but he is absolutely not the lead striker in the premier league.
I don't think he ever has been the lead as, if I remember right, he's always had a partner to work off of, would struggle if it was just him on his own but when supported he works well.

It's an option and as the wing back idea worked, it could be a very possible option while keeping the defence quality high at the same time.

The best strikers are selfish strikers,
go and ask Rooney to pass with a few mins left and he`ll tell you to get stuffed.
4 times though? when there is a player in a better position every time? You underestimate Rooney's footballing brain and United's training methods.
