Sinclair is not even on the bench.shame, I'd heard he travelled today. Brunt's retains the left wing.
Berahino on the benchI'd guess Sinclair's starting then.
I really hope that Long does not get sold in January and Clarke is forced to rely on the semi retired Anelka the 15 stone glass statue that is Anichebe, the goal scoring machine that is Rosenberg and a youngster who is probably not strong enough to lead the line on his own. That, and Marseilles wanted Florian Thauvin, who they now have. so their choices are Thauvin and Ayew, no need for Amalfitano as a 3rd choice.
We go long whenever we do not have Yacob at the base of the midfield and an attacking midfielder who does not drop back into the midfield to collect the ball. If Clarke has made a mistake this season it is changing the shape and personal in the midfield. Whether he was forced to drop Yacob to the bench because of injury or because both he and Mulumbu were on 4 yellow cards and he didn't want to lose both of them for the next game I don't know, but for whatever reason he did not put out the Yacob Mulumbu combination which has been the bedrock of our best performances over the last two seasons.
Equally our key creative players Sessegnon and Amalfitano are inconsistent. Getting Sessegnon to be his consistent brilliant best was a task that eluded three (?) Sunderland managers and Amalfitano is being loaned to us from Marseille for a reason I guess the that reason is there is a frustrating lack of consistency in his performances. The Old Trafford game seemed to be a peak that neither have attained since.
I am not sure if Clarke can be reasonably blamed for this and I doubt selling Long will do anything other than weaken the squad.
Don't think any of us that travelled are asking for anyone to feel sorry for us, yes its our choice.I just gave my opinion to an earlier post. It was in context to the statement I responded to and from looking at the thread, if I wanted to provoke a response then It seems I have failed (bar yourself, of course).
Your comments are pointless and aimed at getting a response from people. Not needed or wanted on this forum.
That's 38 points from the last 38 games I think! The negative first half tactics and hoofball are getting tedious, and results in us more often than not chasing the game. This team is better than that and if things don't improve before the end of the year then it's goodbye SC. A younger more dynamic manager may be needed.tried that before in the PL... last one didn't even last the whole season before being replaced by an older one who would focus on defense and counter and would take a draw over going ftw and risk losing.
I appreciate it's Clarke's first prem job but he doesn't learn from mistakes. Too slow to react against villa and too slow to react today again. Saying that players looked out of ideas for long periods. Mid table slog again I think for this season. You expected otherwise? I'd say all in all that's a good season and where we should be aiming.
Feel sorry for the fans that travelled to watch that dross....I don't, they made the choice.
I know its down to opinions but Lukaku being in our top 10 strikers since the war doesnt half make us look small time. Not exactly, just the large proportion of the voters weren't around long before the PL existed. or were too young to really remember players beyond 30 years ago. I'd expect many of the voters weren't terribly over the age 30 and primarily in a "16-25" category,so yeah, many won't know what it was like beforehand.
Its as if this club never existed before the Premier League.
There is no doubt that Lukaku will go on to become a real top notch player and could well win domestic honours as well as in Europe but to put him in our top 10 is ridiculous after having a good half season becuase lets be honest he didnt do a fat lot up until xmas.
i notice the young left back Garmston hasn't gone out on loan, I wonder this is anything to do with Popov's performance?he also wasn't in the team for the under 21's today against Southampton (looks to me Wes Atkinson moved there from CB). could be with the first team at some capacity tomorrow.
Am I missing something? Why isn't Tony Brown on the list, or are we looking at Centre Forwards?there's your answer!
All depends what they expected really mate , i know several Peterborough fans who thought very little of Saido!Brentford fans too..
I see the cheats are up 2-0 at Wet Spam!To be fair, the penalty was right. Actually surprised with what has happened today (I heard 19 red cards over all English leagues) Jaskelinen wasn't sent off as the last man. Since then West Ham have been completely without composure.
Quite right , we should offer him a really small contract , that way he will still stay with us and send out the right message to othersI think it was more of a general term, your example of O'hara is actually backing what he said... paid a huge amount of money when in reality he's done nothing hugely out of the ordinary to warrant it. I feel it's mostly a critique of football salaries as a whole.
Back in the real world....O hara is on 40k plus , are you honestly telling me Saido should not be on the (around) 25k that the club will offer ?
Takes Long off again after he has scored a valuable goal, doesn't he realise Long is a confidence player, a player that thrives on being on the pitch especially after he has worked his goolies off all afternoon, ran their centre backs ragged, outjumping them all the time.....mmmmm frustrating. He was also on a yellow card, and had begun to walk everywhere as he was getting fatigued. Anichebe, although not as fast, plays a similar physical game to bring in the midfield without the weakness of being on a card. Right decision for me, also the cheers Long got will help his confidence some anyway.
Can we all stop having any critical views on our precious players please, what a load of tosh Mr Downing, maybe you would be best suited just doing the job you're paid for & not worry about what the fans think, I'm sure the players have somewhere between 20 & 40 thousand reasons not to take any notice of a bit of moaning, although I'm very rarely critical of players I reserve the right to do so if I see fit.So does Downing, the players, the manager and the club as a whole. Just 'cause they are paid doesn't lose them the right to an opinion and it doesn't mean they have to just sit there and take abuse from some random guy whose only credential is paying for entry.. Try abusing the staff in a nightclub for example, see how long you last......
Mountains & Molehills
FFP went through and that wasn't unanimous.FFP is an international process, so is run by FIFA/UEFA which is a slightly different majority vote. the initial EPPP vote is a better example as that wasn't going to be passable because of unanimity till the big clubs threatened the smaller league clubs financially, better to get peanuts than nothing at all..
Don't know or fully understand the rules with poaching, but ..............i believe decisions must be unanimous, and the 20% wont agree to losing their advantage.
Surely there are only at the very maximum 6 clubs out of 20 (Realistically 4 probably) that have the pulling power to draw youth players away from so called 'smaller clubs' ..... Agreed it has to stop
So that means, IMO, that there are at least 14 clubs, probably 16 who all stand the chance of losing there new talent for peanuts.
Call a meeting and with an 80% majority change the rules .... it is after all the game that belongs to all clubs and all fans (an some rich owners) doesn't it.
Simple isn't it ..... ?
Interesting comments I saw yesterday with I think it was Morrison describing him as once having a big time attitude, completely going against anything else I have seen about him since he broke into the team. Maybe that is the reason he is only just getting in the side at 20-years-old now he has apparently changed his attitude.it's one reason he fell out at Brentford, not happy at being subbed, he took to twitter and lambasted the club and Rosler for it.
How the hell does a 2-0 win end up being on later than a 1-1- draw at Stoke, I give up.As Jacko said, Keeper scoring, but also it's Southampton, who are this year's Swansea.
Well im assuming Brunt will be outwide, So least it should give natural balance too the team, Glad Morgan's fit, And not too sure about Long but it's his chance now to make an impact.with the balls brunt and morgan could ping in, should be better suited to long by how many of his goals have come from good crosses that just need a head on it or a flick of the boot. Also makes us play a bit wider and bypass Jedinak
If this happens get ready for the backlash! The knives will be sharpened and id wonder which player will get the blamewhich is a shame because even by simple chance, they have to not lose to somebody... And they are hardly as bad as Derby were (defensively maybe)
Anyone know if Gera will be featuring? Could be useful on the wings if we don't have many options there.id say no, club wont let him till they are sure he's fully fit, same as thorne
Speaking to a Marseille fan I know when he signed he doesn't actually have a natural position as he is one who can play anywhere across the middle or even upfront if needed but was used more as a wide player but thanks for allowing my point to standWhat can I say, I like being nit picky!
