What a fantastic win, that's more like it.

Congrats to Roy, the coaching staff, and all the players for that heroic performance.

See my other thread when I stated the club was complacent.  And I stated this BEFORE I discovered this shocking revelation.

It wasn't negative at Newcastle or Blackburn - our away record is excellent.

We went attacking with RDM and collapsed post Oct 10.  RH then saved us from bottom 3.

Like it or not 15th is about right for a club with a very cautious approach to finance.

We have done extremely well to progress this far with signings like Olsson, Mulumbu, Odemwingie, Thomas etc.  There's only so far we can push our luck IMO.

It looks like I'm in a minority here with saying JP lacks ambition.  Most of you are happy with his blueprint.  That's fine - people have differing opinions.

With this in mind, I can't understand the hysteria on messageboards when we lose premier matches as surely we have set ourselves up to lose a lot of top flight games with this business model.

I realise football is a passionate game and people can lose rationality / perspective minutes after a loss.

My frustrations are generally to do with the financial restrictions applied and "the bigger picture".  We really do not deserve higher than our current placing of 15th.  The league table doesn't lie.

If we change manager they will be dogged by this strategy also, hence a never ending cycle.

Odemwingie is playing with weak players and DOESN'T get the service.  He is feeding off scraps because the midfield aren't good enough.

What we need to do is surround him with better quality then he will perform.

That's where Peace comes in.

Sell our best players and we'll be thinking its 1985/86 all over again.

If he's no good then Fulham wouldn't be looking.

I think one or two aren't looking at the big picture as I am.

My statements revolve around are we acting as a premiership club in terms of the chairman's role and finance he brings to the table?

Is Roy truly 100% engaged in his role knowing he could retire in an instant?

Do the players see themselves as bona fida premier players or championship tourists?

Have our fans got the belief we can compete with the bigger clubs?

?

What I'm saying is Dorrans & Scharner aren't really contributing so they would be better off elsewhere.  We need quality over quantity.

A very sensible post.

I know Peace likes his players signed during Summer then barely nothing in Winter.  I just know that 2 quality signings would make a massive difference to us and virtually guarentee at least safety (especially in view of our injuries).

You watch QPR go hell for leather and stay up as a result.  I know they have a benefactor! :P

Like you've mentioned earlier it's disappointing we can't show the door to our weak players.  These players are dragging us down financially, the likes of Bednar, Fortune, Cox, Mattock, Tamas.

This bad run we're on does make you feel worse for sure!

I'm still hopeful we can turn it round and I still get behind the team every matchday.

The only thing that knaws away at me is we're in the middle of the transfer window and we are in control of our destiny by delving into the market.  Soon this avenue will be cut off and if we don't act the opportnity is then lost for the rest of 11/12.

I'll be more settled on February 1st when I know where we stand squad wise.

You're probably a lot more grounded than me in your support and that's something to be proud of.

I'm very passionate about the Albion and I don't like this feeling that we're treading water / not doing ourselves justice at all levels of the club.

I can see us crashing to relegation if we don't invest.  The squad looks a mess to me.

In regard to ticket prices, the SKY TV money is king as far as income is concerned.

If you look at the stats SKY money from live games and finishing position completely dwarfs attendance money.  What I'm saying is we'd attract over 30,000 maybe 35,000 if the pricing structure was correct.

There's just no desire from Peace though.  You show a higher standard of player around a bigger stadium and they'd be more attracted to sign.

We are limiting ourselves as a club.

That is a very sensible post.  What is happening with Roy beyond 11/12?

I just think our position is extremely precarious.  We need to buy now with or without Roy.

If we wait we could be shunted off the premiership gravy train with QPR, Swansea and Norwich waving us goodbye.

But as ever no commitment / communication from Peace.  Which caribbean island is he at now? :P

I think from the top of the club down we're complacent.

There's no desire from Peace to:

a) Increase capacity.
b) Lower ridiculous ticket prices.
c) Pay for quality players on higher wages.
d) Remove deadwood on frees enabling a compact squad.
e) Reach top 10.
f) Communicate / engage with the fans.

Then there's Roy's situation.  A 64 year old manager.  Is he staying?  Is he retiring?  Is he happy with no transfer funds?  What ambition does he have for this season / future seasons?

Then onto the players.  A squad IMO lacking motivation.  There's players there for the long haul, not improve, just pick up wages, basically treading water.  Why are we still relying on Brunt, Morrison, Bednar 5 years down the line surely we can do better with our accumulated funds?  You've proably now got Scharner, Shorey, Cox, Thomas, Reid etc wanting similar long stays.  Look at Meite we needed a pickaxe to move him on!

We seem to be drifting aimlessly as a club.  Our media repuation is appalling.  We're regarded as unfashionable, small-time and not worth talking about.

It's about time we stood up and showed what we can be as a club!

Having stayed up we need to impose ourselves not play 2nd fiddle to Swansea & Norwich amongst others.

that is way of the mark imo.

hodgson has instilled a sense of fear into them over their defensive duites and it is crippling us as an attacking side. :(

Maybe we are looking at our players in rose-tinted glasses and in reality they're not that good?

It's the quality of player that matters ultimately not managerial talent.  Players win you games.

RH does make mistakes, he is not perfect.  Maybe the ball and chain should be removed?

Ultimately though IMO it's 90% the players fault for this predicament.

I respect your opinion.  We'll have to disagree on this.  They look infinitely better to me.  Dyer, Sinclair, Graham, Britton, Allen, Sigurdsson would all improve us.
