General Football & Sports / Re: Alan Irvine sacked by Albion

Gamboa, very very good right back, doesn't get played. Pocognoli, vast improvement on any left back we've had at the club in a decade. Lescott, best centre back we've had at the club since god knows when. Varela, world class winger. Blanco very talented too but doesn't get played. Mulumbu and Yacob the basis of our 8th placed finish (aside from Lukaku), don't get played together. Ideye, player with great potential and 1 in 2 goal scoring record before he came here- just needs time.

We need a proper manager who will consistently play these, our best players, and get the best out of those who are being picked, in a suitable system. A manager capable of motivating these players and building up their confidence. Not a loser, a wimp, a meek surrenderer of a head coach, who probably sends out our players already beaten.

Total agreement!  There is a decent side at West Brom but it is not getting picked. What is seen on the training ground I do not know but from what we see on the pitch the answers are pretty obvious. Play our most effective central midfield pairing, give players like Blanco and Valera and Ideye a proper chance to show their abilities and stop constantly giving consistently poor performers like Morrison and Wisdom a guaranteed place if fit. I would include Foster in this as well but despite his recent p poor performances and his new found inability to dominate his area, he hasn't  hissed me off as much as the others - yet. Downing Kiely are the only constant from the string of inexplicable team selections and strings of poor results over the last 2 seasons. I think you can now add to this the awe and fear of the rich successful cheats we used to give a bloody good game to. what the hell has happened to the 'go out and show these rich nancies' attitude we used to have?

City are better than us  - they played better than us BUT with some average finishing  we could have  - no SHOULD have scored at least 3 goals. City were actually given 2 goals . But team selection has been a consistent problem since before Irvine - same culprits  we all know who they are and now includes the Liverpool full back. The people responsible should be put on the dole NOW. For Gods sake play a proper team against stoke with a balanced midfield that can tackle and win the ball and wide players with pace they can give it to without having to play a miracle pass

The trouble is, this is maybe Irvine's best starting eleven, with Berahino, Verena and Sess all included. I really don't think we have a better starting team.
Try Foster
Gamboa GMac Lesco Poco
       Jacob Mulumbu
sess                    Varela
     Ideye Beaharino

1GK error from a player who used to be good but has had bad errors coache into him -  1 penalty usually given against us  - rarely for - and a deserved goal from  a team so much better than us.  However we have had at least 3 good chances so why can't we score ? We are supposed to have a great coach - do they mean the one the team travel on.

Gardner is not an attacking midfielder and Beharino on this display is def not a central striker. Morrison and Wisdom should not be anywhere near the hawthorns on a matchday.

Im hearing a lot of criticism of Dorrans and Brunt as not being good enough. The problem here is that they have nothing to work with going forward they are obviously being coached to link with and cover their fullbacks and both work hard to do this Dorrans can hardly ever link with Wisdom going forward because Wisdom has neither the nouse nor the pace or skill to get into forward spaces withany effect. the Movement forward is poor and is non existent out wide. The fear factor instilled by this coaching team is killing WBA - IRVINE KEILLY AND DOWNING FOR GODS SAKE GO NOW and give us a chance to enjoy our football again

All these players need is a coach who knows how to win - Irvine and the rest OUT NOW not one has a bloody clue how to set this team up to win matches. The effort the players put in today and the skill they showed was fine but the lack of plan or tactics was so obvious  - and Why oh why does Wisdom a Lverpool player and not a good one at that consistently get the nod over Gamboa - a West Brom player who can defend as well and attack far more dangerously than the Liverpool bloke

awful team selection
awful tactics
last 5 mins shaowed how to panic top sides - it takes attacking instinct not the soccer by numbers dross this b****Y awful bunch of coaches are making the team play.
All them Irvine Keily Downing et al get out now and give the Albion back to the supporters with a manager/head coach who knows how toi set a team up from the talent we have available without needing a computer to tell him who can play where. Do you realise The Bomber and King Jeff would not get into an Irvine side?
