I was at the match yesterday so I did not hear the commentary on Sky.  My son was left fuming.  Did he really say we did not deserve to win, and that Forest looked the stronger team?   ???

Totally agree we need to create a great atmosphere.... but I was thinking we were going to be 6-0 up by half time!

Just to add in, given his knee problem, if he comes back and plays for us again, it is going to be April before this happens, and then he would need to be eased back in as I understand the arithmetic?  If so he could impact 5-6 games at most.

Is it just me or does he go down a little bit easier than he should... then gets nothing from the refs at this level.

Anybody celebrating his staying care to stump his wages whilst he doesn’t play?

With the performance of the current squad it is fair to say that Brunt has not really featured.  But I think he is good to have in the squad- great in the dressing room, still very good at crosses, corners and set pieces (corners on Saturday were terrible I would note in passing) and is average compared to the rest of the squad outfield.  I wish him well.  Great servant for us, and deserves to move on with huge dignity at the end of the season.

Okay so I agree after all the shenanigans over the transfer window it was right not to play him on Saturday.  However, he should be considered alongside everyone else going forward, dependent on what the nature of this shadowy injury is.  Remember he is a very young lad, and if he gets booed when he comes on I do not think this would be fair.

Positives, were we started well, the passing was crisp, Robinson was really up for it and looked very lively.  Negatives were that after half an hour the crispness went and we looked quite lethargic and ordinary.  I agree next few matches will be telling.  Particularly Millwall away and Forest at home.  I think we have the team to get promoted in the tip two.  It will all be down to belief and the players coming back making an impact.

Lets just do the deal and move on.  If this falls through it is not going to be good for anyone.

Excellent servant of this club.  Good luck Chris.... did it have to be Stoke?

Its official we are now off the boil and fading fast.  We look as if we have no idea at all against a poor team.  So many wild shots, so many poor passes.  Very disappointing.

Chris has been a great servant to this club.  Some years ago I remember him towards the end of a season when we were relegated going around the ground (I think he had a knock so was not playing) and shaking hands with fans.  He shook hands with me and my then quite small son who said "well done you were great"- he shed a tear and said not quite great enough.  In short he is one of a small number of players who really care about the club and I hope he is here at the end of the season so we can say a proper goodbye.  If the Gods are smiling on me, please allow him a further payday that does not involve Stoke, though I could not begrudge him this, and it does seem like a logical fit.

Ahmed is a great player and I would be sorry to see him move on.  However, in a good team, no one should be indispensable and this includes Ahmed.  If he wants to go, then the question after that point is really how much?  At £3.5m I think the figure is woefully low.  I would need to see this go north of £6m at least before we would even talk about this.

yes mate! The last twice i have been to Charlton she was performing. According to a copper in the ground it's a normal occurrence he even told us her name!!

I went to a cup match at Leyton Orient, must be ten or twelve years ago.  Similar arrangement with flats overlooking the ground and a rather well oiled young lady who (with significant encouragement from the baggies faithful), delivered a cleavage flash.  I think that got a bigger round of applause than any action in the match!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Incident at the M5 roundabout
« on: December 08, 2019, 09:15:25 PM »
On the way back to the car today a fight broke out around the M5 roundabout.  As far as I can see there was an argument between a motorist and someone walking back from the match which turned nasty.  There have been a few incidents with cars pulling out from the car parks along the approach roads in recent times, and around the M5 turnings where cars drive at speed expecting pedestrians to get out of their way.  It does feel unsafe when you are walking, especially like today when it is starting to get dark.  I think we need a better steward or police presence along the road, which we seemed to have until recently? either that or better pelican crossing points.  Welcome views

Owing to massive traffic on the A14 I am not long back.  My 370 mile round trip seems short and sweet when we play like that. Fantastic team made goals moving the ball around at will.  Lots said already here about the goals, HRK on the form of his life Matty what a steal and Kyle nets a cracker as well.  What you could not see on the highlights was that for the last ten minutes we had so much control with five on the board the game moved down to almost walking pace.  Ref by the way was shocking.  Gave us nothing all match, and how it got only two minutes of added given the stoppage for the head injury, and the stoppage when Gibbs went off.  I was nervous going into this match.  Swansea have a good record against us historically, and their fans are always noisy (and without stereotyping the Welsh they can actually sing in tune...).  However, fully 25 minutes from the end they were streaming out.  It will be a long way back to Swansea tonight.

Shades of grey here.  Edwards played for a penalty which was very marginal.  There was some limited contact and he went down.  For me that is (just) in the boundaries of acceptable.  I am biased as you would expect, but over time, and particularly in the premiership there were times when we did not get absolutely blatant penalties.  Was it Dorans who was completely taken out once when we placed Man Utd when he was clean through?  So on balance I think yesterday was okay... but open to debate.

I've long had a 'thing' for the sound of Bangra drums and those huge drums at the rugby world cup in Japan were awesome, perhaps what we need is a drum ensemble?

I like the idea of the bangla drums.  There must be some local fans who could do this for at least one match?

Can't get excited by England these days. How come we always play uninspiring teams like Montenegro too...?

it is a good point on the quality of teams.  Montenegro is like playing Kettering Town, only with restrictions on only people from Kettering could play.  The risk of player injury is greater than any entertainment value, and we learned nothing from the result what so ever.  There has to be a cut off point surely?  Gibraltar also get to play and I do not believe they used to?

Usually we play teams just on the Manager bounce, luckily for us we played them just before the bounce for once!  I think Stoke will be fine now, but will not do spectacularly well.  Difficult to see how they reached this point with the squad they have.  However, no one is too good to go down.

I thought we did well on balance against a quick and skilled Hull team (though with limited end product).  At this stage of the season I see some real positives.  Our defence in my view is improving, and we do not have Hegazi back as yet either.  In the midfield we are outstanding and can dominate play.  Upfront we are weakest.  HRK has performed better than I expected when he has come on as a sub but Austin looks like he lacks fitness and perhaps even a bit of motivation.  Not sure I see anyone else coming through here, so pretty much as we said at the start of the season we need a striker.  I am nervously watching West Ham's position, and despite the positive talk, I think Grady will be recalled.  He is too good for The Hammers not to pull that lever.  Big test against a well structured Owls when we have a couple of suspensions.
