Albion Matchday Forum / Re: After Match Debate

I think that result is testament to how the players are responding to DM. Lets face it, we would never have come back from two down away from home in the last couple of seasons. Just look at the reaction from Barnes when he ran over to the fans after the equaliser, says it all really about the team spirit being created as the albion re-birth continues. Well done lads!

Yes, this.  Can't believe the moaners on here.  Anyone who thinks this season is going to be a walk ins the park is seriously deluded.  DM is Albion through and through.

I avoid the programme for so long; wasn’t last season depressing enough?

That was a mistake.  It’s an absolute joy.  A mate of mine who’s a big Leeds fan had tears at the end.  Yes, it’s that good.

I couldn’t help thinking of the Man City All or Nothing series on Prime, though: what a contrast - and, by the way, another absolutely amazing watch.

Can’t believe how much negativity there can be on this forum.  We’re a club in transition with a much loved manager playing football that can be an absolute joy to watch.  Work in progress but very much going the right way.

After the result yesterday you have to feel confident, but footie has a funny way of biting you on the arse!  Limited opposition, I know, but that was was some of the best football I’ve seen at the Hawthorns since 78/79.

There was a spell before we scored when it just didn't look like the Albion we knew over the last few years. We had a period of 5 minutes where QPR just couldn't get out of their own box as we hit them with wave after wave of attacks. Pinned them right back. If thats the type of football Moore wants to play, then bring it on.

I was there and this sums it up nicely. There was some lovely interplay and quick passing today.  Big Dave might leave a few with egg on their faces this season.  Actually he’s the one big reason me and the Mrs have started going again this season.  Just love the guy.

Underlines what we've already seen from Darren to date, really looking forward to him shaping our future - "The Redeemer"

The Redeemer; I like that and very apt.  Can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to the season this year.  We’re getting our club back.

Darren is rabbit in the headlights mk 2, being shafted from behind by management who went for the no risk option.
No assistant manager, no strikers, defenders leaving.
 I fear the worst.

My view is opposite.  Funny world.  Loving the vibes coming out of the club.  It feels like we’ve got our club back.  Keep the faith!  I have a feeling Big Dave is going to do something special....

I thought that quote was very interesting. However worrying Moore's experience as manager may be, his views on the personalities and people that he wants to bring into the club are fantastic and exactly how it should be.

Couldn’t agree more. And he’s had the balls to bring in an assistant with arguably better experience than himself.  That shows great character.  Proud to be a Baggie again.

Let's give Big Dave time and patience. For the first time in my memory, there's a true Albion man in charge.  That's got to be worth celebrating!  Hope the Hawthorns is rocking again next season; we have to play our part too.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  Big Dave gets my vote, and if he fails then so be it, but at least he's one of us.

Darren Moore should be offered the position.

The evidence is there to support his abilities. Just like the evidence was there last season to show us that Pulis was on the beach and had no intention of moving forward, or the evidence after our first two fortunate wins at the start of the season that he had gone past his sell by date, or the evidence that Pardew was not up to the task with his appalling results and leadership, Darren has stepped up to the mark and delivered. When he was first appointed all we wanted was to have a modicum of pride restored. He has more than delivered that.

I think he should be offered the position for the start of next season. If it looks as though we are not going in the right direction then we consider a restructure, but I think that he has more than earned the chance to manage the team, assuming he wants it of course.

Whichever way this goes, I would like to thank Darren for what he has done so far - magnificent.

Another very eloquent argument.  The evidence is staring us in the face.  We all wanted our club back, didn’t we? Our club is embodied in Darren Moore.  We’d be crazy not to take the risk with him.  It may be a steep learning curve in the championship, but he’d have so much goodwill behind him. A massive vote for DM here.

Taxi aside, MacDonalds? For goodness sake. These guys are supposedly elite athletes; why would they even think about eating that crap?

I hope we lose and I never thought I’d say that in 53 years of following Albion.

  Think of Peter Barnes....

I'd rather think of Willie J.  Peter Barnes never really did it for us, did he?

I've been a supporter since 1965 and in my view all the flair and excitement has gone from this club.  It's just a business now and my interest in it wanes more and more each season.  In fact, I'm bored to death with it. Let's face it, the seasons championship were 100 times more fun.

Price has to be issue with potential buyers or we'd be sold long ago, that's jp for you thinking of number one

And wouldn't you?

Doubtful on this. Can't help feeling they would announce a purchase of a UK company later in the day so as to make it a reasonable hour for news in the UK, wouldn't they?

I was almost a Vile.  My Dad took me to Villa when I was 6 or 7; they played Man Utd and the score was nil-nil.

A week or two later he took me to the Albion who beat Spurs 3-1.  I chose Albion!
