Non Sports/ Non Politics Board / Re: R Kelly
« on: January 20, 2019, 06:59:54 PM »
If you watch the series surviving r Kelly you would understand why his music is being banned he should be in prison

I haven't seen it, if I get chance I'll watch it at some point but I'm not exactly going to rush. All I'll say is how can we possibly know if they show is balanced or not? Now I'm not judging him either way as I don't know enough about what he's being accused of but I would like to think ff there was enough solid evidence of wrongdoing there would have been more than the one trial where he was actually acquitted.

Pressure is on so it'll be interesting to see how we get on especially if any of those protests their fans have planned come to fruition. I must admit I do feel for Bolton and what they are going through as a set of supporters but we have to be absolutely ruthless tomorrow and do our all to put them to the sword early on but we never make things easy for ourselves.

Turned out to be a massive missed opportunity having seen the results this weekend. The actual performance was decent enough until players started to tire and then it was a case of the manager either sticking with them in the hope experience would see us through or making a couple of changes to get fresh legs on. Ultimately made the wrong choice in my opinion and I for one was furious for a couple of days after the game. He clearly doesn't trust the lads off the bench and we all know he has his usual go to guys off the bench when everyone is available so you can usually predict who will be coming on and when most weeks.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Harvey Barnes (recalled to Leicester)
« on: January 20, 2019, 06:36:06 PM »
I still don't think he's anywhere near ready for that level and I genuinely have some doubt over whether he ever will be. It is a massive step up and we have seen a few kids rip up the Championship and then struggle when they make that step up and I think Harvey is still at that point right now and would have been better served finishing the season here.

If we haven't managed to replace him by the end of the window I would be tempted to ask them if they'll allow him out again.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Who really wants promotion?
« on: January 20, 2019, 06:29:57 PM »
To try and safeguard the future of the club as much as possible we all know the money that comes with promotion is absolutely crucial. I genuinely fear for us going forward regardless, if we don't go up then we have to cut costs even further and have an ageing squad that already needs refreshing. However if we do go up we simply can't compete financially so we go back to being a struggling club barely winning a game again.

Seems to have become persona non grata following accusations of under age sex.

Ostracized in similar fashion to Kevin Spacey?

Can't really say I'm overly familiar with either story though to be fair so perhaps unfair of me to comment further.

I'm not really all that familiar with either story either just snippets I've seen in the news. Personally feel it's one of those things where someone accused of such behaviour shouldn't be identified publicly unless they get convicted in the courts, that way their careers are protected to a point.  That goes for anyone not just those in the public eye, too many have had their lives ripped to shreds only to be found not guilty in court but mud sticks.

Why shouldn't he? It is perfectly legal.

Although perfectly legal I do believe we should be looking into bringing in a test for people every so often for those over a certain age to make sure they are still up to driving.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Oliver Burke loaned to Celtic
« on: January 20, 2019, 06:11:24 PM »
I read a report somewhere saying Leipzig let him go as he lacked tactical awareness.

To be fair he doesn't strike me as someone who naturally understands the game. It's something that could possibly develop in him as he matures as he clearly has some natural yet very raw ability, its easy to forget he's still pretty young too as it feels like he's been around for a long time.

A loan move was much needed as he simply needs minutes on the pitch and as long as he gets game time at Celtic it should improve him as he's stagnated since that move to Germany.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: WBA - Oliver Burke
« on: December 30, 2018, 05:07:27 PM »
No Gayle nor JROD currently. Jay looked injured to he before sent off.

Burke could be starting Vs Blackburn...

Sako. HRK Burke.   What a 3 to pick 2 from to join Barnes up front.

Eve without Gayle and Rodriguez I can still see him leaving Burke out completely and sticking Edwards on the bench instead. Burke definitely needs to get game time so a loan move could be perfect, with any luck he'll impress and we'll be able to claw some of the money back that we wasted on him.

Maybe either way we won’t be spending money but if I had to choose I’d keep Hegazi over Dawson but preferably not lose either.

Don't get me wrong I doubt we'll let either go I just think Holgate is a lad that has been offered around for a loan and its something we think can help us along, if anyone goes it'll be Mears just being released I imagine.

I could see holgate centre back and Dawson moved to right back

Doubt that would be the case though to be honest it'll just be yet another square peg for a round hole no matter how you look at it, could have easily done this with Tosin. Maybe another possibility would be us being willing to listen to offers for Dawson this window with Holgate replacing him in the short term.

Still not particularly convinced by him but as expected with the lads in front of him beginning to look more solid he seems to be improving.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Thoughts on the Season to date
« on: December 27, 2018, 08:33:13 PM »
Given the squad and having an inexperienced head coach I would think we are pretty much where we deserve to be right now. With that said I believe those above us are either playing to the peak of their ability or very close to it and I do wonder just how long they can keep it going whereas I don't think we have come close to hitting our best yet. The couple of clean sheets will do us the world of good as we have looked better defensively but the balance still isn't right as there's no way in this world that Tosin is a right back despite him doing a decent enough job there lately.

If we could maybe add a decent right back and some energy in the middle of the park then we should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. The telling period is coming up in February with games against clubs expecting to be challenging.

Ashworth moved on so long ago its about time some of our supporters did. I'm in full agreement with Standaman, the Brighton job looks the perfect fit for him should he leave the FA role.

He's been like a breath of fresh air so far. Not been so excited every time I see a player on the ball since Koumas was running the show here. I do have my doubts about how he would perform at the top level against much better opposition but I don't really care about that just the here and now. Highly unlikely Leicester will want to be losing him so just enjoy his performances while he's here.

There was definitely a point in the second half where he did start to struggle with a knock. Hopefully he's missing the internationals as a precaution as he's been our most consistent performer by quite some way so far this season.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Jenkins
« on: August 30, 2018, 08:38:36 PM »
Under this blokes stewardship board refused to sack clueless to save 500k, sold Taylor Roberts to Leeds for 4.5.million to pay sicknotes wages for 5 months, wouldn't sanction Evans move in January which has cost the club 19 million. Jenkins is a Jerk.

He didn't return to the club until February so it wasn't down to him that we didn't sell Jonny Evans or that we sold Tyler Roberts. Deserves the hate just for not sacking Pardew much earlier though.

For the first 20 minutes in the cup game I thought to myself why doesn't this lad get more minutes coming off the bench for us? The rest of the game answered that question, his feet are simply much quicker than his brain.

Would put out a stronger side for this one no doubt. There's room for a couple of the youngsters in the starting XI with more on the bench but it would be nice to take the cup more seriously.

Is it just me who expects Darren Moore to persist with the Brunt and Livermore combination?

If he does he won't last long in the job.

The game tonight is too close to call for me, of course England are capable of winning but any side with the midfield Croatia have have to favourites going into it. Whoever wins will be clear underdogs going into the final though.

Amazed they have announced they won't be having any overseas friendly games.

Its never been a secret that he would love to play for Celtic at some point in his career and when he wasn't getting regular game time he wanted to leave the club and had a couple of opportunities to that didn't happen. I'm struggling to see any real issue with what he's said to be fair.

Days like today are the reason we love this game. Pure emotion from everyone when that goal went in, it may well turn out to be futile but today will live long in my memory.

I wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery. No doubt one of the best of all time.
