Absolutely loved the Japan game. They are playing again tomorrow...

Enjoy!.... I did. Lewandowski is the proverbial dogs although my mate hates him because he is a Dortmund fan who use to be a Wolves fan.

This has to be a world record for serious football as opposed to lower levels/mismatches.

As stated the 5th goal is total class.

Subs Stoichkov Cafu Maldini  Zidane Messi Jennings, Bryan Robson

Just thought I would put in an alternative selection to challenge the consensus team!

Great result against Cyprus. Hard to see how Gareth Wales could fail to make the Euros now.

Naughty result for Iceland too. Netherlands in trouble.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: If 'he' plays next week, how do we react?

If I was supporting the opposition, I would love him to be booed but I am an Albion fan and will never boo a player wearing a throstle on his shirt.

Interesting how so many talented players seem to have questionable attitudes.

Saido needs an attitude adjustment -no arguments there but let's be clear about the rest of it....

He is a massive talent and he is OURS.

How long before such a talent comes through our youth academy?
When will we ever be able to afford to buy in such talent for £25m? (please allow for inflation)

My point being that now we have told Spuds where to go, what are we going to do with our home grown prize player?

So now the Daily Star is saying that he is going on strike on the basis of his admittedly silly tweet:

Sad how i cant say exactly how the club has treated me but i can officially say i will never play Jeremy Peace

Not even good English but my interpretation is not that he will 'go on strike'.

It's hard to be sure (as I say because it's badly written but I would say that it more likely means that he won't be playing out of loyalty to Peace not that he won't play.

If he does happen to refuse to play then he would be in breach of contract and lose his wages. That would be the same as going on strike.

I doubt that he would be that stupid.

As I said before it's about the supporters  and that's who he would be letting down.

He does needs to apologise and then he needs to be available for selection.

Good luck to Bobby Brown in Greece!

Will miss him even if we didn't see the best of him.

If you are reading this Brown, thanks again for my birthday present.

No one like's this situation so we can all agree on that and blame has already been apportioned depending on your opinion to Peace, Levy, Saido or whoever.

I can't agree though that Saido rotting in the reserves is good for anyone. Surely it's best for everyone to get on with doing what they do.

The most important relationship is between Saido and the supporters of our club. Saido needs to play well and we need to support him well. If both those things happen then we will all be happy whether he stays or goes at the next transfer window.

General Football & Sports / Re: Salomon Rondon
« on: August 09, 2015, 10:22:44 AM »
Its all opinions until he actually plays. I would agree that better players have failed in the premier league but the reason some of us are excited is because Rondon is an established goalscorer. He has proven this on the international stage and with a top European club. By any standard he is a highly rated striker and we are pushing the boat out moneywise to get him.  Liverpool thought he was good enough so why shouldn't we?

« on: August 08, 2015, 12:33:28 AM »
It would be great to get Rondon, keep Bera, get rid of Vic,...and Ideye comes good.

Is that asking too much?

If it is ...I am asking too much too. I actually think it would be great if we could keep all of our existing strikers but obviously we may have to let at least one go to get back some cash.

Haha!  :D It says on Wikipaedia the he plays for Barley Mow at the minute! Would that be the one in Wolverhampton?

Jokes aside this would be a mighty signing and if we keep Saido too-a potentially great pairing.  :P

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Black Country Flag On Our Shirts?
« on: July 22, 2015, 12:30:54 AM »
Wow, some of the responses on here to a flag are ridiculous. A flag, by the way, that wasn't created until 2012 and people are making out like its some part of our deep rooted history As Black Country people when in realty it was created as part of a competition from the museum. I mean I was born and have lived in the Black Country all my life and it's taken the people of the area until 2012 to be arsed to create a flag. I don't need a flag for me to be proud of where I'm from, to be honest I have more pride in the Albion badge than the flag.

Thank you! A voice of reason. Stick the flag on the flag on the inside of the shorts as far as I am concerned.  In Man Utd colours and looks a bit like ones that Hitler's mates waved.
We are Albion and we have been for over a century. We didn't a flag before and we don't need one now (unless it has navy and white with a throstle).

I voted unsure because how can you be?

Having said what difference does it matter what we think?

I remain cautiously optimistic-just hope we are in safe hands.

I would assume that someone has asked the group to comment on the rumours.

Of course they would decline if it is them and I can't think of a reason why this hasn't happened if they are not the buyer.

« on: July 06, 2015, 09:56:05 PM »
If it's not the Dalian Wanda group and therefore Wang Jianlin, wouldn't they dismiss the rumours?

I have to say it's hard to think of much else at the moment. Very exciting and a tad worrying.

My money is on Wang though.

On the subject of Peace- I believe that he will have negotiated the best deal for himself and the club. He will want to be remembered as having done a good job so his farewell is crucial in that respect.

Disappointing for Saido and selfishly a bit worried for us although I don't know how bad it is yet

That's the Paraguay template, for me if the white was reversed with navy would be very cool and white shorts and socks with navy trim

Yes agreed that would be good

General Football & Sports / Re: Heysel Stadium Disaster

It would be nice to see some "Justice"

There were 14 convictions of Liverpool fans for manslaughter. (Link below).

Not sure if you would call that 'justice' but clearly there was blame apportioned. UEFA were cleared. Personally I think it's complicated to bring so many factors to account for the blame but the stadium, the policing and other organisational factors such as availability of alcohol played their part.

The previous encounter between Liverpool and Roma had led to a lot of bad blood between Liverpool and Italian Ultras so there may have been an element of vengeance.

Watching the game last night brought it home how things have changed since those dark days that ended in Heysel.
