West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Who really wants promotion?
« on: January 14, 2019, 08:30:46 AM »
In an ideal world you'd win the Championship, get the Premier League money then stay where you are.

Sadly if we don't go up, seasons won't be as enjoyable as this year, we'll be stripped of assets and have the feeling you described except in the lower reaches of the 2nd tier. I don't want to go back to that. The 90s were s**t despite the rose tinted specs of nostalgia.

Agreed. We saw some awful football during the 90's. I look back on the time fondly, but that is with those rose tinted specs of nostalgia, living it at the time was pretty unbearable.

We have to get promoted this season, even if just to get the money, our squad won't be this good next season were we to not get promoted.

Dean Smith though...  ;)  {best manager in the league}

What was it you always said about a manager using another manager's players... ;)

At least be consistent, Jacko.

Holgate is a centre back pressed into action at full back. Reminds me of Andre Wisdom. Will be a poor signing.

Extremely early days, but I thought he has looked superb both games thus far. Offers us some natural width on that side that we have lacked all season thus far.

No one wanted him in the club never mind the team. The issue of Barry coming in later than he should have and doing well is DEFINITELY with the benefit of hindsight.

Would love for you to do your usual trawling through the site to find where I first called for Barry to be played this season, I imagine it was extremely early once I had seen Brunt fail in the centre of midfield in the first game I saw (missed the Bolton game) so it was certainly not hindsight for me...

Why would you listen to his answers - your mind is made up already. So dull.

Darren's press conferences? Agreed

Why did it take 3 months approx for Barry to be a regular starter?
It's not good enough and one of the reasons we are no higher than 4th.

One of many questions I would have if I sat down with Darren, none of which he would provide satisfactory answers to.

Shocking in game management yet again costs us the win.

Please stop playing Gayle on the wing. He’s our best player, play him in his actual position and sacrifice a lesser player instead.

Barry was superb again, weak links were HRK and Brunt, who just cannot tackle, as ever

I dread to think what Darren will pick here.

Holgate   Dawson   Barkley   Gibbs

Phillips   Brunt   Barry

HRK   Rodriguez   Sako

Is what I think he will go for, and it will be awful.

Why not? Plenty of good wingers out there, just have to go and find them!

I'm sure we can find them...but we won't be paying for them.

Agreed, I can see him back here before the end of the window.

Awful news.

From what I've read in various media sources that seems about right. Winning the league seems to have empowered far too many egos.

Strange one really as, aside from Vardy and Schmeichel, you wouldn't keep anymore of that title winning side now. Fuchs, Simpson, Morgan, Albrighton, Okazaki, King are the only ones I can think of that are left, all of which are pretty crap

Brighton fan banned for 5 games for offensive on line comments

I wonder what the comments were about? (not really we all know what has wound 'em up!)

Just checked on Twitter and it seems to reference the death of Cyrille. I won't post the precise words on here to save any potential legal ramifications.

Any ideas as to when ticket details will be announced? It's a ground I need to tick off still so would be very interested in going.

He's a brave boy,a Pole playing in Russia, best of luck fella.
Operated, not good enough for us,poor player for £100k per week, please.

He's already been there for 5 months... :-X

Awful news.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Rekeem Harper
« on: January 07, 2019, 10:01:04 AM »
I liked the look of Harper alongside Barry in the earlier cup rounds and feel that they could work well together on Saturday if selected. They both had a poor game against Palace in the final round we were in, but the whole team did and we were still playing the ridiculous 5 at the back in that game as Darren got schooled by Roy so I find it hard to judge too harshly.

He was superb on Saturday against a poor Wigan side, so I would happily see a midfield three of Phillips, Harper and Barry on Saturday.

Looks like he has regressed so much from when we first introduced him.

Desperately needs a loan move.

Won't be missed.

He will be if the alternative is Brunt...

Mears   Holgate   Bartley   Townsend

Harper   Field

Edwards   Sako   Brunt

Doesn't really put Sako in his best position, but I'll live with it. Give Brunt a run out in the only position he can actually play.

I guarantee I was closer to the action than you and see things that the cameras who tend to follow the ball do not.

It seems you don't accept critiscm as shown by your reply, did you get that from kindergarten when you left last year. Thanks for leaving the mature comments to the grown ups ;D

No issue with criticism, just not sure what the criticism is supposed to be. Having a different opinion to some? Having the audacity to voice my opinion? I have no issue with people disagreeing with my opinion, all I expect with any opinion is that people articulate it. Your two posts in my direction have articulated precisely nothing.

Did you go today, if so perhaps your comments carry some weight, if not  just stop your propaganda and give positive support your team

Maybe you are a troll anyway 8)

How very grown up of you... go to every game or you cannot possibly offer a valid opinion.

Watched the entire game, saw it all, you do actually get a better view watching it through a TV camera in fairness  ;)

I know it's not the biggest issue ever, but why does Johnstone NEVER go forward for last minute corners when we're losing by a single goal?

It's happened throughout the season, at worst you lose 3-1, at best he makes it 2-2.

He was stood on the halfway line in the last minute against Sheff Wed and was looking to the bench for the OK to head up for the corner and it never came.

Just lay off Darren Moore mate you are getting embarrassing now. You don't like him and didn't want him we all get it  and that's your right but bloody he'll.

I was told the same with my views on Pulis, then strangely enough months down the line everyone was saying the same...

I call things as I see them. Will never apologise for giving my honest opinion on an internet forum.

As an aside, I really do like Darren, club legend who has given me some of my happiest memories as an Albion fan, just not as our manager/head coach.
