that view on Twitter is totally different to what anyone in the brummie saw, there was a clear flick out after jumping over him.

agreed, from Brummie it looked a deliberate kick out at the player

when I saw it I said to my dad if the ref/linos seen that then he's off, looked like he consciously moved towards the player from where i was in the brummie.

not massively malicious, more petulant than anything and frankly stupid

Interesting that you say he's not well liked by some of the other players. It suggests we might have a clique who the remainder of the players aren't fond of and cliques are never a good thing. If there is one, hopefully it can be dismantled before the season starts and the squad will all be pulling in the same direction.

I also don't think he's worth £20m and I don't think anyone will be willing to offer that either.

wasn't that the suggestion Odemwingie made after he left, Berahino may have said something similar as well,  senior pros + kiely / Downing etc whilst they were still here, to what extent that's just a leadership group or whether it was something more divisive who knows, either way this summer should be an opportunity for significant refresh of the squad as everything's undoubtedly become too comfortable  for certain individuals

He's only still here for the same reason he got the job in the first place, his best mate Hammond isn't up to the job and can't find a suitable replacement

Phillips has no fight, ducking out of challenges and just jogging around.  McClean is not a footballer and Barry is a waste of space, why get rid of fletcher just to bring in his equally slow twin?

Need Brunt on, best chance to score will be corners / free kicks and he's the only one who can deliver a cross

He's not a footballer he's an athlete who plays football, he has the raw physical ability but no footballing brain. He just a better version of James McClean

It's like they've taken the worst parts of all other sports video ref systems, ignored all the lessons learnt and said yep lets do this, almost like they want it to fail...

NEVER a penalty...disgusting - the game has truly gone, I can't continue watching this 'sport'.

The game is truly gone if that's getting given, gust of wind will blow them over next

How have we found ourselves in this position - simple by replacing Dan Ashworth with a series of people who are not qualified / competent at the job assigned to them.  Since he left our transfer policy and managerial appointments have simply not been good enough

McClean.

We have too many championship players playing for us to survive (Livermore, McClean, Robson-Kanu, Nyom)

But they "work hard"

January will decide if we stay up or not, as it currently stands this squad is lacking and will go down

Still the best striker at the club by some considerable distance and that really sums up our issues at the moment.  Instead of adding yet more defensive midfielders over the summer we should have thrown all our energy into getting some proper competition for Rondon, as it is now he just looks lost and completely lacking in confidence

Just out of curiosity who would you think was genuinely talented to ( 1 ) keep us in this league ( 2 ) improve the football and quickly ( 3 )  take us on a cup run and even look at a top 8 finish next season if still in this league.

That's the classic Robbie Savage challenge and lilt most of his challenges it's not great

My response would be it's not my job to have that answer I'm not employed on a full time basis to know what's going on in world football and draw up lists of potential future employees of west brom (playing or coaching). that's Hammonds job and if the best he can come up with is Pardew, Allerdyce and Martin O'Neil then we should replace him with a subscription to sky sports news as we can get the same level of insight from there.

Who really knew about potch or Silva before they joined Southampton and Hull respectively? Wagner before he went to Huddersfield?  Probably not your average fan but I sincerely hope an average director of football did!

If we go for some like Allerdyce then we've learnt nothing, we spent the summer buying footballers and some genuinely exciting talent (Greg / Gibbs / Burke etc) why then employ a manager who doesn't know have to use them properly.

Would seem to be a disconnect between our player recruitment and managerial preferences

Everything I'm hearing about the shortlist is just confirming the view that Williams is yesterday's man, not up to speed in the modern game

Hopefully this is all misdirection and they have someone genuinely talented lined up

Pullis will be happy, we didn't lose and that after all is our primary aim at the start of every match

The painful thing is that it was so predictable and everyone could see it coming...we are better than this and there is only one person to blame.

Post match on WM and when asked if we 'sub-consciously sat to deep' pullis stated yes and that when he joined he saw a lot of nervousness when it came to seeing out games, well I'm sorry that was a number of season ago now and the squad has changed since then based on his signings, this wasn't a one off this is what we do every game

He doesn't need to be muscular. If anything with his build it would hold him back as it would affect his pace. He had the perfect physique and it has quite clearly declined. That picture with Lambert is shocking.

You don't know what feedback he's been getting from the coaches.  For all we know he could of been told he needs to be more physical, be stronger on the ball and not get muscled out of it by bigger, stronger defenders.  Let's face it a big one up top target man is what this team is built around not a pact Defoe type finishes who likes to reciebe through balls running off the shoulder of the last defender.  Unfortunately Saido is the former and won't ever be the later.

He may then have taken that feedback too far and hit the weights to a detrimental amount but that's a sign of misguided enthusiasm and poor management rather than a lack of professionalism or desire.

It may be that he was putting on fat and that my statement above is completely wrong but when I saw those photos it looked to me like someone whose been doing too many weights rather than someone who has let his diet go.

Either way I don't see a future for him here and it's better for everyone if he moves on, too much history now.  We just need to hope we can try and get something for him either in Jan or through tribunal

The main difference yesterday was an exceptional individual performance by Chadli and a particularly poor defensive performance by West Ham.  Not sure that is sustainable every week or the basis for a successful season.

We can live in hope that we've turned a corner but it will take more than one win to convince me of that.

I couldn't care less whether Mel was good or not, all I know is that Pullis is not getting the most out of this squad of players and his approach to football reeks of cowardice, too scared to attack, always focusing on trying not to lose rather than trying to win.

If he does it'll end in relegation. I hate to say it, he's the only bloke that could keep this squad up!

I do not believe Pullis is getting the most out of this squad

At its best a spine of Foster / Evans & Maculey / Fletcher & Yacob / Rondon & Saido is capable of so much more than scrappy 0-0/1-0's.  I don't believe we're seeing anything like their best

The concern would be that without pullis we return to the experiment of which long term assistant coach fancies trying their hand as manager next

Pullis should and in my view must get more out of this squad than he currently is

Then Mozza himself made a similar mistake a few games later, doh.

But nobody gave him a legendary punch. Slack.  :-[

It also gets forgotten that after Saido lost the ball at one end their team walked up the length of the pitch through a number of other players including breezing past a certain J. Morrison who made one of the weakest attempts at at a tackle I've seen before getting in the position to score.

Saido should have kept the ball but others were equally, if not more to blame for conceding that goal

Yes i do mate! We started with one up top and he just hopes we can nick something from a set play.

Pullis never sets out to win, he sets out not to lose.  If we do manage to win in the process then that's just a lucky bonus

Yes he looked like he wanted to make things happen, but it doesn't seem like we get players forward quickly enough to make best use of him, so it just ends up looking like he flatter to deceive.

Phillips lacks footballing ability, he runs around a lot and is big but he doesn't have the quality when the ball is at his feet, just another version of mcClean

My view is that there is a breakdown in the player-fan relationship on both sides not just at west brom but across all clubs

Most fans think footballers are arrogant overpaid mercenaries who don't really care about winning but just how much money they can make out of the game (and by extension how much money they can take off them the fans).

As far as I can tell scratch beneath the PR created surface and footballers generally view fans as uninformed and liable to knee jerk reactions and jumping on bandwagons and as a result there is little concern for the opinions or feelings of fans because they're either wrong or likely to have changed by next week

I know that is a huge generalisation but as a trend / over-arching statement I don't think it's far wrong

Imagine we'd lost to this Villa team!? Stop moaning, they also got a point against Leicester.

Imagine if we'd attacked them and put 5 or 6 past them...

That's ok because right now we're not a football team!

We have the aim of scoring a goal, but because its on the break or more likely from a set piece people aren't happy with it.

I haven't seen us look threatening on the break in a long time, defence and midfield are too busy getting back into their shape ready to defend the next attack leaving whichever poor sod who has the job of lone striker that day isolated and outnumbered

Also if our plan is to score from set pieces our deliveries need to be a lot better. What's our plan B if the opposition don't give away any corners or happen to be good at defending set pieces?
