West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Harvey Barnes (on loan from Leicester)
« on: January 11, 2019, 01:29:29 PM »
Feel obliged to having to note down my feelings towards Barnes.

Thank you for restoring my faith in football, and more importantly, the Albion.

Got me off my feet more times this year than anybody else has in the past decade.

Top 5 best players/biggest impacts i've seen grace our club.

All the best, maybe one day we'll see you back.

Gayles a better finisher than Rondon anyday,Rondon maybe be better as a sole target man,and is on good spell at the minute, anyway lets talk about this the end of the season,we will have the answer then

referring back to my post a page ago, Rondon has more Premier League goals - why cant we have them both, if they go down?!

Still hoping they come down. We then go up.

I’m certain Rondon & Gayle would be lethal.

Doesn’t Rondon have more goals than Gayle in the Prem? So for everyone who skates Ronny the “he can’t score” brigade don’t have a leg to stand on.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Parking by Sportsman
« on: December 06, 2018, 07:44:00 PM »
Move if needed, not sure this is a “football” topic.

We normally go to the Island before the games, and park by the Cricketers pub/flats however tomorrow we fancy a change to the Sportsman.

Anywhere good to park by there? Don’t mind paying if I have to as not sure the side streets will allow it.

Any tips lads & lasses is appreciated.

Maybe a subtopic, where do most people on here before games these days?

After following the awful events over the weekend, and readin so much about Leicester's owner, makes me wish our owner had as much input as he did. To see so much generosity towards the club and community as a whole showcases just how a club should be run. Lai has been to a handful of games and has provided no real input at all.

On this very site after last season had ended. Do you not remember? Here's the quote from you

" Him (Leko) and Burke along with Phillips & a new winger would be a good foursome in the Championship."

So by that theory him, Leko, Phillips, Gibbs are a good foursome. However it’s a shame that Leko & Burke simply aren’t good enough to be used as anything other than back ups.

Pound for pound, the lad is dreadful.

So, from thinking that he would be good in the Championship, you have now decided that he is useless. Based on what? One and a half games in the EFL cup, when he scored once and had one assist?

Where did I say this

Useless, get rid ASAP.

More of a waste of money than Chadli and that was hard to beat!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Ollie Burke and Sam Field
« on: September 25, 2018, 10:20:29 AM »
Burke is, unfortunately, useless.

The guy has shown zero progression and even in cup games he does not stand out. Complete waste of money.

I do however rate Field, nobody can look as good as he did against Newcastle last year and not have talent. However, he plays in the most crucial and critical position and he is struggling for games so this will only hamper his development long term.

We should do with Field what Leicester are doing with Barnes. Loan him out, allow him to flourish then hopefully have a better player back.

Any chance the assembly could ask for a change in music?

After seeing Ajax’s rendition of Three Little Birds, wouldn’t it be great if we could find an anthem to all sing along to after a victory.

Thought he was superb for majority of last night.

Actually think this lad could be the best of the bunch. Has a touch of coolness about  him and leadership wise he isn’t afraid to bark orders and calm things down when needed.

Maybe not against better opposition such as Saturday but certainly deserves gametime against lesser opponents in the league.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Away Tickets - Loyalty Points
« on: August 29, 2018, 11:55:33 AM »
Just a quick question, may need moving elsewhere so apologies if so...

With regards to the Blues tickets, 4 season ticket holders wanting tickets but 2 can get them this week whilst the other 2 will have to wait until next week.

Anybody know if we can somehow request sitting together? Can the first 2 STH get all 4 tickets straight away on their account?

On a slightly separate note, anybody else feel the ticket office staff can come across very rude/abrupt - every time i call i seem to get a grumpy assistant on the phone.

Without going over old ground too much, its so evident that this club has stagnated for years in terms of its recruitment.

Our central midfield relies so heavily upon aging players who have no energy.

better than koumas! the kid is 20, only going to improve... has 2 things key that koumas hadnt got!

he runs and doesnt stop for the cause of the team

and he hasnt got a stinking attitude!

No brainier in terms of who’s better but Barnes did show yesterday he could be as influential. It’s been years since we had that type of midfielder at the Albion and hopefully we’ll see much more

Works as hard as Rondón does so we’ve lost nothing in that aspect. Didn’t realise just how quick he was until yesterday.

Seems to be enjoying it also.

By far his best performance for us yesterday, the second half at least.

Hopefully the change in system and a bit of serious competition from Townsend has worked wonders and long may it continue.

I dont buy into the opinion we needed a more experienced manager.

Remember, we had Pulis. He left this mess.

Cant get more experienced than that.

Give the guy a chance.

My Dad won Supporter of the Year back in 2011, was a brilliant experience meeting all the players as part of the winners package.

We met at the Training Ground and then also at the awards ceremony later that week.

Everyone of them superb, Hodgson was a true gent and I have nothing but the utmost respect for those guys.

Appleton even offered my brother a trial at the club after seeing some footage of him.

The whole club that week showed just how great they are.

I'll be very surprised if we sign a centre midfielder today.
We must have somebody lined up, been told Livermore to Watford is on.

That is spot on, I'll buy you a pint for that post, we need to back the Manager not jump on his back from the off!
Never thought Albion fans could react this poorly.

I’ll take you on that offer mate 😂

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Darren Moore

Time will tell on Moore.

People have to remember just how bad this squad is. Pulis created it, Pardew crippled it, Moore is trying to revive it.

The lack of balance within the squad is shocking. To have 5 first team central midfielders but none with any real creative spark (not one of them can dribble with the ball in the mould of a Koumas or Dorrans). Not one of them is a true box to box in the mould of a Mulumbu. Not one of them is a Yacob style enforcer. Normally from 5 midfielders you'd have 2 or 3 who fit within our current crops attributes, but the others would/should be a specific enforcer/playmaker.

Our full backs arent good enough. Again, none of them have a clear style of play. None of them provide any kind of brilliant distribution, none have blistering pace for an overlap.

The forwards (taking out Gayle), again, what are they actually good at? What are their styles of play?

We have no target man, we have no on the shoulder CF who can burn away a defence. We have no Kevin Phillips style poacher.

All we have are a couple of decent wingers, but if we know this, then you can bet the world the opposition do. Stop our wingers, you stop Albion.

Teams will allow Brunt, Barry, Livermore, Field and Morrison all the time in the world to play sidways passes as none of them will travel forward and score a worldie like Koumas or Dorrans could. Because of this we are limited. Our wingers are marked, the full backs dont want the ball which forces us long onto forwards who arent target men or cant run in behind.

The end result is the appaling displays we have seen.

But this is not Moore to blame; its 3 or 4 succesive windows without improving the balance of the squad or looking towards a real future. Not one player has been brought into the club who we can fully build the team around.
