West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Nathan Ferguson
« on: January 15, 2020, 10:18:21 PM »
I've got to say, I hate this attitude. It feels very entitled. West Brom are his employer. We didn't give him his ability or talent. As a club we gave him a contract we deemed suitable for both parties. The only thing he "owes" us, is to meet the terms of that contract. As a club, we have left plenty of kids by the wayside when they didn't meet muster. This is simply the other side of that coin. Our clear failing is that we did not identify his potential before this season.

If we want him to stay, we show the carrot, not the stick. Freezing him out because he owes us will just push him closer to the door.
I think our coaches would argue that the time and money the club invest in the academy would have gone a long way in getting him to the levels he’s currently at

If it’s true that he is happy to run his contract down and walk away to a European club in the summer the club shouldn’t be investing any more time and development into him, it’s all hearsay as it stands but any player with no intention of sticking around should be away from the squad, we are in a fortunate position that we have adequate cover in Furlong and arguably O’Shea.

The club need to shoulder some blame that it’s reached this point allowing his contract to get to this point, however the previous management regimes clearly didn’t see the potential Bilic has.

Whilst Johnstone could have done better, serious questions about the defending should be asked in the first place, he should never have been allowed to win the header

There’s some genuinely awful comments on this thread, people wishing serious injuries on a 16year kid need to give your head a wobble. He’s just like any other player, he is going to go to where ever the money is and wherever he feels may be best for his career, how many players would turn down Barca? His family will have been set up for life by all accounts, who is turning down that opportunity?
Him moving to another club is no different to us poaching kids from other academies.

There were some great performances today, Zohore looked really good, Harper played well, dare I say Brunt played well. Austin and Zohore looked good together and happier playing together than as a lone striker. We looked a threat going forward for the first time in weeks.

"Training ground incident yesterday" according to billic

Could mean numerous things before people jump to conclusions
it could be anything yes, but Bilic did say it was related to the failed transfer bid.

I think the offer is totally fair and if he doesn’t want to sign I wouldn’t be expecting the club to do much more and would to sell in Jan. 20k a week for someone with 16 starts under his belt is a great offer. Take Into consideration it will probably double with promotion too.

Pulis is such a good judge of strikers, isn't he. Wasn't he the person we have to thank for having Burke and HRK on our books?
I don’t think pulis’ commented on his ability he commented on his fitness, which was evident in his performance against port vale I think it was when he barely lasted an hour and was awful throughout the time he was on the pitch. It’s great for him that he’s developed so much but he was poor when he was with us and wasn’t good enough at the time, genuinely have no idea why so many pundits and fans find it so hard to believe a player wasn’t good enough to play regular premier league football at 19 but has developed into a good player 4 years later

Too good for this league. Give him the ball and let him do what he has to do. Needs to be taking every set piece, sorry Phillips.
100% has to be on every set piece. His corners are better than Phillips and I’m far more confident of goals with him standing over a free kick too

Wonder why he brought Al Habsi in?
Watch the goal in slo mo, at no point was his body extended, all the way through the shot he was making himself smaller, horrendous goalkeeping.
Some are pointing out that he made some saves....great, that’s his job
How many clean sheets have we got this season...and if he’s that good why does everyone feel the need to state that he had a good game at derby ....is it just the TV audience because against Blackburn (and others) he’s been very poor

But hey if defending him is people’s choice then that’s up to them, I’d rather we had a proper goalkeeper
pretty sure al habsi is to cover the place vacated by myhill, I’d be amazed to see al habsi make an appearance.

Or we win 1-0
obviously because he didn’t make those great saves keeping us in it at times

No keeper should be beaten from where he was today.
it’s a total freak goal, even knockaert admitted it was a cross, I’m not sure if it took a slight deflection either

Credit where it’s due Johnstone had a good game today, one dodgy clearance which probably shouldn’t have got back to him in the first place but made some great saves, really hope he can build from that.

« on: September 05, 2019, 02:37:56 PM »
So just proves brunt and many others played when then wanted to play and didn't when they didn't fancy it... As we all knew they had to much say in the dressing room... Well all have gone apart from the wand and thank god its coming to an end and defiently don't miss him now... Good riddance "legend"
I don’t think it says that at all, it’s basically saying they played how they were told to but the instructions were that poor no one knew what they were doing so they spoke up when asked by the chairman.

« on: September 03, 2019, 11:14:12 PM »
I have no doubt there was no malice intended in the original post, for me the fact it’s noticed and talked about shows there’s still a problem that exists, the day people don’t notice the colour of the player wearing the shirt but only the colour of shirt the player is wearing is when that problem is finished.

Isn't he I suggest you look again.

I didn't say it mattered, I just commented on it as it unusual and a first for us, no other reason.
id suggest you look again, he’s from Oman, he’s Arab, not black, it’s like saying an Asian person is black.

Wondering if it means Bond is going out on loan ?
he’s just doing the myhill role and playing 3rd choice I’d imagine

Any one know if there was a particular reason for this?
I think there was clash with Mcmanaman that went against them and from that point they turned on him.

I do think Phillips would score 10-15 goals if played wide in a front three with a decent centre forward.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Oliver Burke
« on: August 14, 2019, 10:02:46 AM »
I think he’s talent but for whatever reason it’s just not working for him here, it’s probably best for both parties he moves on, if the club could find a bundesliga team to take him on a 2 year loan that may be beneficial, he has long enough left on his contract so that if he did succeed we could still command a fee for him.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Oliver Burke
« on: August 13, 2019, 11:27:07 PM »
The guys isn’t a centre forward and never will be, that last 20 odd minutes was a total waste, he seemed to start the second half well out wide and made some decent runs. Feel for him a bit as he never seems to get the chance across 90mins to stick in one position and get into a game. He needs a run of games out wide which he just won’t get with us as there’s too much quality ahead of him now.
He looks nervous and to be fair you can’t blame him, there’s thousands of fans sat in the crowd who are just waiting For him to make a mistake to jump on his back, you can hear the groans as soon as the ball starts travelling towards him, if he’d cost 3mil or had come through our academy I doubt he’d get half as much stick and would be given more time, his price tag isn’t his fault though.

absolute disgrace from a so called fan
hardly, it’s a paying customer voicing an opinion with a bit of humour, there was a similar chant about bobby Zamora years ago. Being a fan doesn’t mean you have to sit a celebrate mediocrity, on initial showing the guy hasn’t justified anywhere near his fee and paying customers have every right to voice an opinion on it, if you paid for a meal and you’re waiter was crap you’d tell the manager, why is football different to any other industry that you must be positive about your team 100% of the time?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Jonathan Leko
« on: August 09, 2019, 05:42:55 PM »
Any chance we get I'd sell Leko. Same goes for Wilson, Melbourne, Fitzwater (once Hegazi is fit). None of them are going to make it and you can take that to the bank.

Plus Robson-Kanu / Phillips go into last year of their contracts. I'd sell HRK if a lower league club makes an offer. Phillips is still too good for lower leagues, I fear we will lose him for nothing next year but that's a smack on the chin we're just going to have to take. Blow maybe soften somewhat with the signing of Pereira who may well become permanent.
I don’t think it’s a case of they won’t make it, it’s a case if they won’t get the opportunities to play here because of the quality ahead of them, they need to go elsewhere to progress their careers, much like sawyers did
