I hate to be a pendant (although I'm going to be  ;D ) but we're not the only unbeaten team in the League, we're the only team in the Championship that's unbeaten in the League. Other teams who are unbeaten in their respective divisions are Liverpool, Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Exeter City.

To be even more of a pedant Liverpool are in the Premier league, which is not part of the football league.

was supposed to be in Limerick with work but it appears that it has been cancelled, will find out tomorrow. Might get to this game after all!

Got 0-1 written all over it if we turn up expecting a walkover

I'm not sure Slaven would allow the players to think it'll be a walkover.

Huddersfield have been very poor this season and even though they had the lions share of possession against Sheff Wed they created no clear scoring chances for their attackers.

I think it'll be a frustrating game with them sitting deep and us having to break them down but you'd hope with the likes of Phillips, Edwards, Diangana, Preirra, Krovinovic Zohore and Austin to pick from that we do have the players to do that.

I don't think it'll be a walkover by any means but if we can be solid in Midfield and at the back then I think we'll have too much in attack for them.

Against Wednesday they set up in a 4-3-3 so it'll be interesting to see who wins the midfield battle.

my line up would be:

               Furlong                Ajayi                    Bartley         Ferguson

                                        Livermore             Sawyers

                 Phillips                              Perierra                    Diangana

Subs; Al Habsi, one of Townsend/Gibbs (if neither are fit then Brunt), O'Shea, Krovinovic, Harper, Edwards, Zohore.

I'd be looking to bring on Zohore for Austin after an hour along with Edwards for Phillips. I'd leave the final sub for about the 75th minute to see how we are coping.

The season before we bought him he kept 22 clean sheets. So I think there's definitely something in him needing a strong back line in front of him to help with his confidence, or just more simply to just reduce the amount of chances the opposition gets.

I hope that once Hegazi is back and fit we will start to look much more solid and cut out some of the errors. Hegazi could well be the leader the back line needs.

All about opinions mate, I think he's been poor apart from Blackburn. Sawyers has struggled at times but overall has been  by far the better player and, given a choice between the two, would be my pick every time.

Absolutely, we all see things differently.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when Hegazi is fit and back in the back 4, will Bilic drop Bartley and keep Ajayi at CB or will he shuffle the midfield to put Ajayi in?

Personally I'd drop Bartley and the leave the Cm 2 as they are. I don't think Bartley has played that badly apart from a couple of real clangers but Ajayi has generally been the better of the two and Hegazi is better than both.

Isn’t that Laurie bang in the middle of the photo in the second picture?

I think he means in the Liam Harris caricature/cartoon.

I'm still not a fan and don't think he's been very good this season. Yes Blackburn was his best game for some time but still a long way to go before I'll be convinced. Sawyers definitely helps as he does a lot of the work Livermore can't such as tackling, passing and showing for the ball.

Sawyers passing has been pretty poor for the last few games. Livermore has been by far the better of the 2.
Apart from the opening game of the season Livermore has been good.

I saw a small article or comment somewhere that was saying the manager of Zwolte is known for his tough approach, and for getting players like Thorgan Hazard (Eden's brother) on the straight and narrow. Will be interesting to see how it plays out for Saido

There was an article in Brummie Mail with quotes from his new manager saying how pleased he is with Berahino, his ability, his attitude everything. Maybe the penny has finally dropped.

Possibly the fear of being dropped. Fear of the manager. Fear of doing your own thing and being at fault for losing. The manager/coach is there for reason. To be obeyed. It’s the same in every industry.

yep, he even says in the interview that under Pulis you either did it his way or you were dropped.

Brunt has been a great servant to the club but his time has come and when everyone is fit and up to speed I don't even see a place for him on the bench.

Interview on the OS.

Playing his best football since he came to the club and is captaining the side on merit these days, now has a central midfield partner who brings out the best in him, we've lacked this type of partnership for way too long.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with this one. When Livermore played with Huddlestone next to him at Spurs and then Hull he looked like a much better player than the one we have seen for a few seasons. Huddlestone is/was a proper central midfielder, now Livermore has Sawyers next to him who is also a proper centre mid and low and behold Livermore looks a much better player.

He is also playing regularly in a 2, rather than the 3 he was part of for large parts of last season. He knows what he is doing in a 2, at times last season he looked lost in a 3.

I just hope we have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Would be good to have Hegazi back to deal with the threat from Mitrovic, but only if he is 100% fit. We don't need to rush him back and risk a flare up.

If West Ham manage to stay in the top 8 or 10 up to January then I doubt they will recall him.

I'm just going to carry on enjoying watching him play and hopefully scoring more goals.

I think that there is more of an issue with non-asian representation in "english" football, TBH.

People will say its a cultural issue with football not being popular in Asian families / society, personally I don't buy that anymore as I can remember Khalsa Rovers playing in the West Brom league 50 years ago and the Asian communities are very largely integrated nowadays.

My onions anyway
Have to say I agree with you. I attend football sessions for Asylum seeker/ refugees run by Tigers Trust/Kicks International in Hull and there are a lot of young men who identify as Asian playing.

Plenty of Asian people at the matches, home and away.

My issue is with the use of British and Black in the original post as it's seems to be suggesting that black people can't be British, but I accept that that isn't the view of Balispen, just how it was reported.

yes there's only the Leeds game on Oct 1st that's on tv.

I wonder if our Stoke game on 2nd Nov will be on?

Dean Ashton on Quest highlights reckoned it was a foul by Phillips. Personally I just think he was stronger than the defender.

A comedy start but once we got the equaliser we blew Blackburn away, until we gifted them a second. Ajayi, Ferguson and Livermore seemed to have an issue with it and were gesticulating to the linesman and speaking to the ref but on the limited highlights I've seen I couldn't see anything, certainly wasn't a foul on Johnstoone he just dropped the ball.
Some of our play was sublime in the first half. Livermore was outstanding, one cross field pass to Furlong in the first half was excellent but everyone played well. Ferguson looked a little shaky at times but generally coped well and Austin is clearly still not match fit and looked frustrated with himself.

Zohore did well when he came on.

In the pre match thread I said I wanted us to work the opposition keeper more and we certainly did that so I'm happy with our improved attacking , we just need to concentrate on keeping a clean sheet now.

Jacko may be happy. Gibbs is out and Bilic says Townsend "felt something", and specifically mentioned how Brunt has played at left back...

Furlongs replaced Gibbs at Derby and Brunt was an option of the bench then. Depends on whether Ferguson starts at RB I guess?

I'd like to see a little more end product tomorrow, doesn't have to be goals (obviously that would be great) but just get some shots away and work the keeper, the midfielders getting into the box to support the striker when crosses come in, that kind of thing.

Wondering if it means Bond is going out on loan ?

Think it's more to give Johnstone and Bond something to think about...remove any complacency that they might have.
