West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Final League Position?
« on: January 23, 2020, 12:13:54 PM »
Things change. Going in to the second half of the season he had a 14 point lead.

If we were to finish in the play offs and not win them, our form over the second half of the season will probably have us around mid table. So that is a very average period, or worse. Our belt then has to be tightened further as parachute money is chopped again and our only real salable asset is Pereira.  The monkey / shadow, whatever you want to call it, of one of the worst capitulations ever then surrounds Bilic. Fan moral is hammered. Questions about his inability to halt a slide are everywhere. Three more ex premiership sides desperate to get back up are with us.

It might sound pessimistic and like a merchant of doom and I am really not generally, but it will take something incredible to over come messing this up. To some extent he may have made a rod for his own back by the points he got on the board, but that is his reality now.

Also - the two year project was propaganda in the first place. The aim this year was promotion, no doubt about it.
Surely the reality now is we still have a 4 point lead and a game in hand over 3rd place, and we have lost 3 games all season. We are having our first blip (2 defeats and 5 draws) and its all doom and gloom, if we win our next 2 which we are more than capable of things become rosier again, people seem way to quick to jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon even though we are still top of the league (which is both fact and reality all in one). Anyway I diverse.... still top 2 for me!

The guy has needed dropping for a while so not end of the world he has been banned for a few games.
You on the wind up or going on stats???

He is head and shoulders above anyone in that starting 11, he constantly wants the ball and even when played out of position he is the one running at them and trying to create/ score

Jesus, what do you want out of him????

Knew this was coming, looks like Krovinovic getting game time, need to not appeal this and get the West Ham game counting as 1 of the 3, then its only Cardiff and Luton, could have been worse......

The posterior chain is linked physiologically that for sure but it will probably take some trial and error to figure out since quick players do just have difficulty with their hamstrings too.

Its a worry for him to be having a succession of muscle injuries so young though.
Hopefully its the same injury rushed back a little too soon, Bilic did say it was the same leg, same injury

"David Moyes has said the injury picked up by Grady Diangana last night means he will "probably" remain with Albion all season. Moyes has suggested the winger will be out for a month. Chasing where that leaves the £1.5m fee Albion were willing to pay to keep him. 'wba"

Masi E+S Twitter.

Moyes interview

“It was a big consideration,” Moyes said. “His injury last night has put paid to him coming back. We are so short of players just now, [it’ll be] maybe a month’s time when he’s recovered.
“He’ll probably stay there until the end of the season. We think [Josh] Cullen getting games for Charlton is the best thing, too.”
The injury is probably good timing then, particularly with their injury list piling up it sounds like they may have recalled him! Get him back properly fit now for Mid Feb and hope we can pick some form up in the meantime!

Without me going through this thread (so not sure whats being assumed anymore), I went to an ex-Albion player evening in December, this former player still works within the Albion and he stated that NF's representatives are point blank refusing to talk to Albion whatsoever. That has come from inside the club but other than that I dont know, as I say that was in December

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Is It Even Worth Being Promoted?
« on: January 14, 2020, 01:45:05 PM »
Big bonus for going up is the fact Lai can recoup most of what he paid for us (better chance than if we dont) and we can sell to someone who is allowed to pump money into us!
Other than that nothing whatsoever excites me about going up, I have loved the last two seasons (good and bad) as we have been entertained by our own team and not the 'superstar' teams, it has been nice to be a relatively big fish in a small pond again!

Oh and dont get me started on VAR!

General rule of thumb, the closer you park to the ground the longer it takes to get home....unless you leave before the end of the game that is (as a lot seem to do)

I'm not.

The question you have to ask is why is he so busy to warrant this nomination.
Because we play attacking football which leaves us exposed more at the back??????

Im completely unconvinced by Johnstone...ive seen him have some absolute belting games and then get beat by the easiest of shots.

Ive never been happy with a keeper who isnt a commanding presence in the box.

He has won or saved us a few points though this season but I think there is better out there, some of these championship keepers look good if im honest
There is always better out there........

There is better than Austin, Kanu but its who we have and they are doing a job

There is better than Matt Phillips, better than Townsend, better than Bartley, the list could go on.

For me SJ is more than playing his part, he has the second best save rate in the league so as part of the team that is joint top he is more than playing his part, all keepers make errors and SJ makes a lot but he also makes up for it with some unbelievable match winning saves.

I would say Johnstone's saves this season have won us more points than his errors have cost us, he has improved massively on last season.

Its not just Diangana though. It seems Billic still has connections at West Ham and some goodwill there.
Absolutely my thoughts too, more worried about losing Bilic than Diangana, although he would still be a massive loss

Bond, Hegazi, Townsend, Willock, Brunt, Harper, Edwards, Zohore, etc all need some game time, strong enough options to beat Charlton without affecting promotion I would say.....

With my business head on I can see versions of this artwork potentially hitting the club shop in time for Christmas :o #cynic
Hope you are right, I will be in the queue for one, I love it!

I hate to say it but i like giving it a listen, Charlie Austin is a guest on his latest one though i don't think it's uploaded just yet. I just find that he's a guy that speaks a lot more truth.
He's probably blocked half of us from listening to that too!!  ;D

24k for a table, some chairs, and a lonely room with a sterile corporate atmosphere? Give me the BRE any day  :D
With my business head on 24k is nothing, that allows you to take 9-10 customers to 23 games, get them p#ssed and get some business out of them, could end up a very profitable decision and 24k well spent!!

Its nice but i'm a bit disappointed that there isn't an advert for Sadler's Peaky Blinder Lager anywhere in there though, I dont think we advertise that enough!  ;)

PS - Picture is ace and they definitely need to put prints of that in the club shop, if not they are missing a trick!!

During the time I have Bern going I would put my top 3 as:

Foster
Hoult
Naylor
Naylor was a good shot stopper, but he was a vampire (scared of crosses) and rarely came off his line!

I was quite fond of the 'Beast' Brian Jensen but he wasn't great was he!  ;D

Best, hard pushed to decide between Ossy / Hoult / Foster
Worst = Mark Grew
Paul Crichton surely??

Berahino 2 in 2 games in Belgium, point to prove? or found his level?

Played in it twice this season and won both matches, they can wear it at home for me!!  ;D ;D

I am genuinely gobsmacked that there is a thread where some people are 'moaning' or expressing disgust at us wearing an away kit for an away match, am I missing something here??

Yet Austin had medical more recently and seemingly done ....... 99%. Yesterday Austin wasn't even mentioned.

Why nothing since on Perreira?
We are about to announce another one now, it may be him, lets see...... (drum roll)

Getting concerned now re this signing. I'd have expected some sort of news by now but gone deathly silent, no news of talks, medical, player travelling, nothing.

Have a feeling this isn't going to happen.
Where you looking?? Landed at Heathrow last night and had medical down London this morning, all done and dusted (depending on what source you read)

Interesting to read it was a loan deal he turned down with us earlier in the Summer, wanted a bit of security, cant blame him!
