West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Chances of survival

We really shouldn't be depending too much on the results of others...its in our hands. We have a great chance in the next few weeks to get out of this mess, we have imminent games against Fulham, Sheff Utd, Burnley, Brighton and Newcastle. It'll be down to the desire of the players and how much they want it...its a great opportunity at just the right time, we shall see.

We'll get a point at best in both games v Fulham and Sheff Utd IMO. We needed to bring signings in early to give us a chance but as usual we are leaving it late.

Just a thought, what happens if Gallagher or Pereira get injured or suspended? Who fills their places? With Harper gone, we've let 2 attacking midfielders go in one window.

Phillips.  ;D

A modern day AJ for me. Runs a lot, works hard and makes a nuisance of himself. Lacks a bit of technical ability and quality in the final third. I think we've been too heavily reliant on him carrying our midfield. Difficult with the players around him and the fact he'd never kicked a ball at this level before.

We'll have no one left at this rate!

I like Krov. Technically one of the best CM's we have and one who I thought would be suited to the Prem. Hope he does well at Forest.

We got a draw there, didn't do us much good!
Let's face it we probably need 7 wins so it just ain't going to happen. Best we can hope for is a bit of a Darren Moore revival and see a bit of heart and pride back.
I think we may double our first half record and get 4 wins but that's about it. If Wolves is one of them, it will not be such a bad season.

Roll on August.

I’m thinking back to 85/86. 4 wins all season with a double over Blues. Could be the same this year by beating the Dingles twice.

Non-existent if we don't get two or three in tout bloody sweet. Just not good enough.

If we leave our business to the last day then we are taking a big risk especially with the 2 massive games we have around this time.

I've said it before, the care the NHS give is second to none.

The organisation and planning is where they fall short in my opinion. Whether that's down to lack of money, poor management who don't understand the day-to-day workings of the doctors and nurses or a combination I don't know.

Nail on the head. People talk about budget cuts but the amount of money wasted is eye watering. The phrase 'too many chiefs and not enough indians' springs to mind too in big organisations like this. Lots of 'management' figures who do very little on huge salaries.

He's had a decent season by his standards but I was disappointed to see him come straight back in yesterday. What message does that send to Button who I thought looked commanding v Wolves. I'd like to see their second goal again from yesterday but at the time I thought that Johnstone could have come out for the cross. Agree with his kicking too. Wasted possession time after time.

Bartley and a new CH for me. I like Ajayi but he is riddled with errors at the moment. I wouldn't worry about losing his threat at the other end. A new CH may just be as good.

I've said for ages that if we get the centre of midfield sorted and had a commanding keeper then the defence would improve naturally.

I fail to see what a new striker will do other than what Robinson is already doing?  The guy is feeding off scraps most of the time.

You have to play Livermore and Sawyers together with Gallagher just to shore things up further, that's where you're missing a 2nd striker, in the need to play both JL and RS.

A Goalkeeper doesn't even relate to 5% of our problems in my view.

Get hold of it when it does come along. Maybe cut inside and get shots off. Odemwingie did this very well and so did Lukaku. Unless we tighten up at the back then I agree a new striker isn’t going to be effective.

Antonio has bullied us all game. Considering Gibbs and Livermore are our most experienced players they are both liabilities.

It's not the goal itself, as someone else said, we had the ball with a minute left, and West Ham aren't a pressing team. A bit of game management and it's 0-0. Still, a truly odd goal, and like you say, once it got to Bowen using his shoulder to redirect the ball, it is unlucky.

Agreed. We had the ball in their half but turned and played it back into defence. Sticking it in the corners would be a better option.

Craig Dawson in their line-up. Don't be surprised if he puts in a good performance!

More of a goal threat than any of our forwards!  :D

if this is true i suspect Sam is confident that we have another forward lined up to join in the coming days

Remember when we sold Horsfield and Earnshaw without a replacement. I wouldn't put anything past this club.

I wasn’t suggesting a like for like replacement so hopefully this makes room for an incoming player.

Off to Forest according to reports. Hopefully we have a replacement lined up.

I'd imagine Button would be playing on Tuesday as well. If we get another positive result then I'd keep him in team. Bigger frame than Johnstone and better at claiming crosses.

Looks more of a presence especially as he comes off his line more. You could hear him shouting on the telly too!

Absolutely fantastic today. Gets a lot of stick and rightly so at times but I think he’ll be a mainstay in the side from now.

What a win. Unbelievable. We looked much better balanced with Snodgrass and Grosicki out wide. Both played well. Special mention to Bartley who was immense. I think he’ll flourish under Big Sam.

You can't blame Alladyce for basic **** mistakes.

People blamed Bilic for similar. Big Sam is getting the same. Players are simply not good enough whoever is in charge.

Could definitely see Appleton in post next season.

That would definitely finish me off!

I think we had to have three or four players in now to have any chance.

I think realistically it is a case of getting in a few loans to try and make us more competitive and respectable for the rest of the season to avoid total humiliation.

I expect Allardyce to be replaced by someone else before the end of the season who will then prepare for the Championship campaign with a view to promotion and then keeping us in the Premier League, much as the club originally planned under Bilic. This time though they need to appoint a man that will set us up in a way that will enable to us to survive in the PL. We were never going to do that under Bilic, a newly promoted club cant try and play tippy, tappy football and out technique other teams with greater resources.

Funny how when Mowbray tried the same thing it seemed acceptable to most. He got the full season and a standing ovation for finishing bottom. He also signed several of the previous seasons loanees and never bothered with a CDM.

I can see Snodgrass starting in a central midfield position.

I dont think anyone has said Bilic wasnt successful for getting automatic promotion. Quite the opposite infact

But the problems that existed last season still exist this season and he had 3 transfer windows to address it. He didnt.

How much of that was down to Bilic though? We had no more money left to bring anyone else in. Didn't he question the amount spent on Diangana for example?

The same will happen to Allardyce. He'll have plenty of targets but I'm not convinced the club will be able to bring them in.
