Thought we played okay. Were the more threatening team second half.

Their pen looked a terrible decision. It didnt appear kipre made a challenge and he just dived.

Problem is a lack of penetration. A post earlier talked about Kanu being ineffective and he was totally.

Thought Field was very good. 4 superb clearances on corners. Win the ball frequently.
Gallagher bright but passed the ball poorly at times. Had 3 good chances, didnt get one on target. He isn't the answer.

Two questions: why take off kanu who has scored 2 pens 5 minutes before penalties?
2. I love Bilic but can't we take the cup seriously? It would be so nice to get through to the 5th round draw etc..

Reminds me of Keiron Richardson - energy, mobility, tempo, can shoot from distance...

Gallagher has impressed me whenever i have seen him - he has energy which our central midfield do not have. Our intensity and tempo is very slow and Gallagher will make a difference.  However, even if we sign him, we still lack a mobile DCM...i have come to the conclusion that our problems will be sorted by playing a 5-3-3 formation  ;D

Diagana causes a problem in that we have to have a system that fits in wingers/him.

Personally a 5-4-1 is what we need, but with a diamond 4. Pereira behind the striker and a DCM (Field?) screening the 3 CBs. Could Diagana be played as a LWB? I doubt it and therein is the problem.

Hence the problem Diagana gives us - we have to play a formation to get him wide and i am not sure we have other players that will enable our formation and mobility to work to give him that and have Pereira central. It still keeps coming back to the problem of the lack of a mobile DCM...

Someone said the other day that Diagana may turn out to be a short term problem for us - i.e. would have been better spending £5m each on 3 different players, as opposed to 12m to 18m on Diagana. We have gone for a long term investment that will not help us short term.

Here is a link to the statement put out by the club, you should be able to get a refund if you email before 30/9/2020.
Hope this helps

Thanks. That's what I thought and what I did. Not sure they have told the ticket office staff

I requested that Albion put my potential refund from the 19/20 season ticket towards next year's  ticket (20/21).

I had am email two weeks ago saying I could transfer this to 21/22 or get a refund. I emailed the ticket office to get a refund.

I have now had an email saying a refund is not an option.

Has anybody else had this? Phone lines are turned off so I cannot ring up. Any bodyelse had this issue or did I misunderstand?

Livermore was £11m?  :o

Said weeks ago, we would see in the transfer window the reason why Jenkins retired.

If we buy cheaply or noone, Jenkins left in order for the blame to be placed squarely at the owner's door.

I cannot see Slav going, think he has a genuine bond. He just went sign a new contract. Number one priority should be a three year deal with Slav. I wouldnt leave it until after the window, as he might be utterly **** off.

Having pondered this further, I am sure our transfer window will indicate how this is going to go.

My only worry is didJenkins see the plans in Feb for the transfer budget whichever division we were in and thought "I am out of here, i am not getting blamed for this?"

However, we don't know, but the next few weeks will tell us. Plus, if Bilic was to sign a new contract that would be a positive step and show he is happy. However, if that contract didn't happen, i would be very worried.

or it was a placeholder for an incoming?

Number 43 as a placeholder for a new signing doesn't fill me with glee?

This is concerning news - regardless of people's thoughts on Jenkins.  He has kept us steady whenever he has been involved.
.surely, the two years of Ken shadowing Jenkins suggest this has been planned for and expected?

I would be more concerned if we lost Dowling at this point.

People come, people go.

This might work out well, it might not.

Many people didn't like Jenkins a few years ago and now he is the best thing since sliced bread. Noone knows what Ken will be like as there is no history to judge. Everything is guesswork at the moment.

Time will tell, as will this transfer window.

To be fair, noone knows.

We will soon start to judge as the window goes on.... :o

Record first day sales apparently...

Maybe we had a reasonable amount of stock in for the first day, compared to previous occasions...

We have normally sold out in the first hour in the past.

We have a lot to do just to stand still due to all of the loans we had.

Makes you wonder how many loans we will have this year, which would be a concern..

I thought the FA had said to the EPL there must be  a finish and it cannot be voided.
The choice is either finished by playing or finish by PPG.

This is why relegation threatened EPL clubs have turned their attention to jumping on the idea of unfairness if the EPL have to play but the EFL don't. They know the EPL season will not be voided.

Still trying to get one, if anyone is aware of any going.
Looks like one block (36) had not been released but Albion so no more?

In dealing with this recent tactic for teams to stand all their players in a tight bunch together at corner kicks. Does man to man marking work with that?

I think so? If you have responsibility for beating your man to the ball, it should work whatever your opposition do?

Gave the ball away the first 3 or 4 times he had it. Solid thereafter. Decent showing but Gibbs won't be losing any sleep.

Gave the ball away the first 3 or 4 times? I don' recall that.

Recorded the game, so when get back, will check.

« on: February 09, 2020, 07:03:03 PM »
Interesting that after the debacle of the Cardiff game, we appear to have changed from three players zonal marking on the edge of the six yard box to just one.

This means two of our best headers of the ball can now man mark. So far, this has been a good change.

Slav gets it bang on imho.

If you don't listen to his interviews after the games, you are missing out. It is so refreshing to have a manager who sees the issues, talks about them but then deals with them.

After Cardiff he said we would change something tactically (the zonal by the look of it) and he also identifed we kept taking extra touches and one too many during Luton.

Radio wm release every interview on their podcast station. Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent performance today. Really pleased for the lad.

No moaning, just gets on with it and puts 100% in. Didn't shirk a challenge and rarely gave the ball away.

Makes a massive difference whether the player in front  of him can keep the ball and also whether they work back.

they were announced yesterday lunchtime.

the tv games are Arsenalv Portsmouth, Chelsea v Liverpool, Man utd v Derby and Man city v Sheff wed

Stunningly original choices for the TV.

There could be three massacres there, not great TV for the neutral. What's happened to the screening of the games where they might be shocks? Money...

The success of our academy could be seen today:

Daniels, Brown, Sawyers, O'Shea, Harper.
Plus on the bench, Tulloch and Edwards.

That is not a bad return...

Problem is it this was the main mistake that led to the goal. And his mistakes are costing us goals nearly every game now.

Bartley was at total fault for that goal - he had time and space but his pass was shocking. Cannot understand Sam getting the blame for that

Clearly says Ferguson's camp said no to a loan mate .
Widely reported too by Masi and others.

Joe Chapman (Evening Mail) tweeted and said it was declined by the advisers.

Ferguson was open to the idea.

He is 19. I have a 19 y.o. son and this sort of decision would have been torturing him. I think an agent would have more influence than a lot of what you think. His parents are in education and have little knowledge of football I guess. You would really on the agent.

I am disappointed they chose to move, but he is a young kid who is an Albion fan, having a chance to sort his family financially for life. I cannot believe people criticise him for the decision he made. Albion could have released him this year if it wasn't for Slav. You don't know but the injury the has had may have made his mind up for him.. makes him realise he is not untouchable.

The hysteria on social media is embarrassing. I think he does owe us, but I also recognise it is cut-throat. What other industry destroys the dreams of kids from 7-21 years old?
