Knowing the club is not a reason to employ someone, in fact where we are concerned it should be an active reason not to... This is hugely disappointing that it's even rumoured; we need a completely fresh start.

Just go and get Slavisa Jokanovic.

Every platform for people to speak their mind will always involve opinions you disagree with. Saying they make themselves look stupid because they have a different opinion is a bit much. And if you dislike the programme so much I'm not sure why you listen. I turn callers down who spout rubbish but I'm not bothered if their opinion reflects badly on me as an Albion fan. They're the ones that sound daft. Ultimately what's said, be it utterly ridiculous or simply breathtaking, it won't make an ounce of difference to the team's performance.

There are deluded people in every avenue of life. I'd much rather listen to the radio where i can turn it down than hear some of the nonsense i hear at matches around me.

I like the show? Hopefully no one off here is a regular caller though...

We used to have the same stats when Mowbray was here and the fundamental flaws in his management meant he's never progressed beyond a championship manager.

Given Potter won't be given a big pot of money to rebuild like Mowbray was I'd suggest he'll run into the same problems. Any team that struggles to defend set pieces like Swansea do is always going to be up against it in this league. One of those fundamental flaws that separates out managers.

We'll agree to disagree. Mowbray gave us the best football since Ossie and at a higher level. Not sure why you're talking about anything other than Championship as Monk has failed in his only Premier League job.

Blues had literally no money to spend. Swansea had some money to spend and a better team to begin with.

It got somewhat worse for them in January but by then it was clear they weren't going up anyway.

Bristol City had their star striker, centre back, and left back all sold off. Spent 2.5m in the summer. Swansea losing players and not getting huge funds to replace them isn't unique by championship standards. Potter is doing nothing that the likes of Johnson, Monk, Neil and Adkins aren't doing elsewhere. And Wilder is doing better than them all.

Now go and have a look at every passing stat for the entire league.

What were your thoughts on Farke last season?

Complete powderpuff football, far too easy to beat - you say no investment, they've still spent more and have a far better squad than a bunch of teams above them.

Potter benefits from being fashionable from his time in Sweden. There's a bunch of managers who've done jobs with worse quality ,worse budgets in the league. How you can slag off Monk who's had it far more difficult then claim Potter will have them top 2 next season is beyond me.

Mind boggles if you think Monk has had it worse than Potter. Have a read about swansea this year.

It's not a discussion programme, it's designed to be controversial. Not worth listening to IMO.

On the contrary, they give the fan the opportunity to make themselves look stupid before the smug presenters confirm it. Unlike TalkSport this is entirely down to the caller rather than the presenter.

So I've been listening to this online while I've been off work last week, we come off terribly on it compared to fans of the other W. Mids clubs? Who on earth is phoning in?

Thought this could become a regular thread to discuss the Albion related calls on there. I've barely agreed with one call this past week, from numerous people calling for Shan to remain in situ, to someone saying Moyes and Puel the only obvious choices. The mind boggles.

If he wins every game to get us promoted he would rightfully get the job!

It's not like Moore was a disaster. Had we gone for the tried and tested option of a rowett things could be much worse. Likewise the up and coming coach potter hasn't done anything.

If you can't see what Potter has done for Swansea I despair... They will be top 2 next season with no investment.

It's probably worth a bet that is to be honest! Sods law, you know it'd probably happen. We'll never hear the end of it! It'd be a cack season if we had no proper rivals to play!

Like the last 6/7 seasons then...  ;D

Gomes has been playing the cup games but I assume Fozzy will come back in for the semi. Some one send him a Boing Boing tee, to wear under his shirt. ;D

Not sure how you can parallel the two to be completely honest. I have always felt with you that you have your standpoint, as I do, but you have always provided logical arguments in support of yours, but I am starting to buy into what others say about you recently.

Moore hasn't worked out because of his assistant. Ok, who wanted him as his assistant? Darren. Who was in charge and could have quite easily either removed him or stopped using what he was telling him to do? Darren. Who had the whole summer to work with the squad and get his message across as well as bring signings in? Darren.

One criticism levelled at Moore is we are where we are in spite of him. This applies threefold for Smith who gets results when Jack plays and provides relegation form when he doesn't. In contrast Moore continued to pick up points AFTER Harvey Barnes left. It's not a difficult comparison to make...

We also took 4 points out of Smith, he took 1 (with Grealish). Smith track record is top 10 Championship, he's still there, that isn't good enough for us. As an aside Brentford actually got worse under him (compared to Warburton) something you have never alluded to.

Regards Darren of course he takes the lion share of the blame for his dismissal but I refuse to believe that loyalty is a bad thing when there is so little of it left in football.

Would have thought you'd have loved the old Pulis method of a point a game  ;)

Ultimately you were one of many who petitioned for Darren to get the job and he spent 36 games showing he wasn't up to it. Time for you to make the admission of being wrong.

We're above Villa mate, Moore hasn't worked out because of his assistant imo, but he's still done much better than Smith.

The way we capitulated against Brighton looking more and more of a shame.

Can't believe even with the benefit of hindsight anyone thinks this guy is good enough. Please explain his total failure to even 'get by' while Grealish was injured. 13 matches, 13 points.

I'll wait.

Back to the real egg chasing, and Saints extended their 100% record at the top of Super League with a dominating 28 point win over Huddersfield.  :D

Looks like we'll be getting £16.5m anyway, either from Newcastle or someone else if Ashley doesn't fork out.

Hopefully that somehow lapses, easily worth £25-30 million.

« on: March 16, 2019, 11:07:55 PM »
He was selected regularly at the start of the season and was rubbish. I like Brunt but his performances will tail off very quickly.

He’s been a great player and a classsy passer of the ball but he is not the answer to our midfield problems.

Brunt is our most important central midfield player. Maybe not the best, but getting him into that team, covering his deficiencies and allowing him to play his own game makes us perform better.

Another Match Of The Day feature on Salomon. Some player this lad, we've massively missed his presence.

Now he (and his station) should be totally ignored.
I can't think of a better description of this repulsive guy than the Guardian quote which appears in his Wikipedia page...
"expert phone-in troll, arrogantly spouting inflammatory football opinions in the hope of prompting some indignant phone rage from an uppity fan."

Problem is this was beyond the pale, and indignant and uppity don't begin to describe the emotions he's provoked.

Anything but these to win the FA Cup!

Would be happy to watch villa get promoted, win the premierleague and win another European cup than see these lot win the FA cup. Just pray City can beat them!!

Same, though no need for prayers...

I’d suggest Wolves are a much better side than you give them credit for

I'm sure they are week in week out, in reality they're no better than us under Hodgson/Clarke yet though.

My issue is every time I've watched them live aside from when I won a lot of money when they lost at home to Huddersfield, either the other team hasn't turned up or they are extremely clinical on the break.

They aren't particularly easy on the eye, but the 2 central midfielders are extremely comfortable on the ball and Jiminez has a superb strike rate.

Interested to see where they go next.

I imagine it will stall at this point as with all the will in the world they aren't bridging that gap to the top 6 until they can break teams down that sit back against them virtually every time, which next season will be everyone except Liverpool and City.

Regards this thread Manchester City now have 2 trophies of their quadruple in the bag.

Can't account for United being so poor.

Odd side Wolves, they sit back and break but Jiminez particularly is clinical.

2-1 now but too late.

so you don't think blues have over achieved under his management ?

No more than they did under Rowett no.

the points deduction is irrelevant to his management,

That was clearly just a bookend to the post. They've bottled it when it has come to the crunch, they were above Villa until 4 games ago. Vile have taken 12 points they've taken 0. As someone else suggested, he's Rowett with 3 times as many sideways passes.
