West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Crop Of Youngsters 2018

16 year old Morgan Rogers, who made the bench vs Mansfield in the cup earlier this season,  scored tonight for England u17s v Brazil. A friend of mine who went (Telford fan) gave this report:

Morgan Rogers - 16 years old West Brom academy striker. Class above for England U17s tonight against Brazil.
Serious player

They were playing at Telford tonight. His goal was just unreal footwork. 3 players around him in the box and he just shifted the ball so quick, dribbled past and slotted it in.
Ridiculously quick, quite tall. Best young player I've seen

I know he's highly rated but we may have a serious prospect on our hands here. Still at 16 there's a long way to go.

If he's this promising we'll never get him signed to a professional contract.

A bit surprised as it is a reasonably good appointment. Pity really as I was looking forward to our game against the Cabbage Patch Dolls on the 7th, will be a little bit more competitive now....

I imagine Smith will go straight back to Brentford for Maupay.

Suggested in the media Brentford rejected a Championship record bid in the summer. Villa can't afford him.

If they had anything about them regards getting out of this league they'd go and get Colin from Cardiff...

Twice in a week Livermore removed from centre midfield and we immediately start passing quickly and incisively to feet and more importantly forwards and to each other.

Deserved the win in the end, that should be the last we see of Mears despite the assist.

Just off the top of my head Preston springs to mind but I know there are plenty of other occasions that would make your argument flawed, problem is when you have your (for the want of a better phrase) boo boys (Dawson, JRod, Livermore) its hard to change your mind without losing face.

Sometimes the best person to question your opinion is You!

I'd be happy to play Rodriguez right up front but that would sacrifice Gayle. My problem is with the shape in this instance not the player.

Livermore is terrible. I've never seen him play well. Dawson is a poor fullback at Premier League level. Fine at centre back.

Sometimes there isn't any face to lose. Just well formed but differing opinion.

Why would you drop our top goalscorer & our most consistent central midfielder?

Rodriguez not affecting games unless we get a pen .allows a change of shape. Livermore cannot pass a football, Or move into space to receive a football or bring a football under control. Gets around the pitch though  ???

Livermore is critical to our team at the moment and I don't see why we should rest him given its the international break. I'd start midfield with Livermore and Field and bring on Morrison at some point.

I don't expect Philips to play as that would see him off for international duty so if fit enough I'd go Sako on the right given that it's a home game. Drop Bartley for Barry.

Brunt did my head in midweek and at one point he literally stopped playing to remonstrate with the ref when a decision didn't go his way, allowing Wednesday to break. Just wasn't good enough.

He's awful (imo) and him being shunted out wide was the catalyst for our comeback on Wednesday.

Anyone explain to me how mount gets the England nod over Barnes?

Better player, further along in his development.

Back with O'Neil and backed with money....I can see this happening unfortunately.

That would a disaster. O'Neill is a dinosaur.

they tend to go for homegrown or foreign players - what other sort are there?  :-\

I believe he means players that have come through their own academy as opposed to any British players.

Yes once he's moved from central midfield. See the stills on their first goal he is 5/6 yards too deep which allows Reach the shot.

Brunty has a part to play but not in central midfield.

They didn't move him out of central midfield he just made a run through the outside right channel. Livermore got shifted to right side.

We can persist with two up front for home games, but at the very least I'd love to see Barry or Hoolahan come in for Livermore and for us to get some control in the middle of the park by playing the footballers in there instead of the athletes...

Thought it was very difficult to tell what we were playing - even Matt Wilson struggled for a good 10 minutes or so.

Chuffed with the comeback but I really don't believe that the change of system contributed to the two goals. Players picked the right pass and Barnes, well, it was a piece of such individual quality.

I did think Hoolahan made a difference though. With a little more composure around the edge of the box I think he could have even found a pass to sneak an unlikely winner.

Even Matt Wilson? A fan with a journalism degree? I don't get your point, it was obvious what the changes were.

If you lads can't see how the changes got us back into the game you're watching the wrong sport (or should just enjoy it for what it is as opposed to giving us the benefit of your 'insight')

We went 3421/343 with 4 pure footballers in the 4 central positions Barry Brunt Barnes and Hoolahan. Livermore was shifted out of the way to right wingback and Rodriguez substituted and while it fell down with HRK up front he at least provided fresh legs.

The changes allowed us to play more incisive football as it didn't break down through lack of ability in possession (JRod and Livermore) or lack of movement (Livermore).

I'd like us to use this more away from home with Gayle up front obviously and Phillips back in the team.

Oh and 2 assists for Brunty. Boing Boing.

Worldy and a defensive error put us in trouble. Moore's changes rescue a point when our strikers aren't at the races. If either side deserved to win it was us. 2 goals disallowed also hit the bar. Shame we're carrying Bartley, Mears and as proved by the last 20 minutes Livermore.

Brunt is still in central midfield.

Got to say Barry has made a massive difference in the middle

Midfield has been far better with Livermore shifted out of the way.
