Must be colour blind, seriously. It's not difficult to see what the colour is.

Regardless of seeing the kit how can anyone be taken seriously if they don't know our club colours? Partick Thistle mean nothing to me but I know they play in yellow, red and black FFS!

Clueless!

Am I the only person who thinks all of the Green and Yellow kit look awful?

Probably not but you're in a minority.

Grealish is a flat track bully. Effective in the Championship where he finds it more comfortable but doesn't affect games in the Premier League, he's not brave enough on the ball for a start. If you're the type of player he is you have to make things happen and have a major influence on games, he doesn't do that.

5
How many we sold for this, are we having the larger allocation?

We've been given 800 extra tickets.

Considering the game is live on Sky, 12,30 kick off and the tickets ain't cheap taking over 2,000 I think is not bad at all.

6
No offence but you're miles off the mark here.  Half the oppo fans I speak to don't even realise we're navy blue and white stripes, a lot think it's black.  Let alone have any idea what our away strips traditionally look like.  Show a random fan our away strip and most will conclude Norwich.

What the hell ....... lol. Any real football fan knows we play in blue and white. If they seriously think our stripes are black a) they know very little about football and b) they need to go to and buy some glasses. You must speak to some pretty odd opposition fans.

As for the away kit, everyone knows Norwich don't play in stripes, well possibly except the fans you speak to.  ;)

The yellow and green is an iconic kit. Anyone that see's that kit thinks of Albion. There are very, very few clubs who are instantly recognisable by both their home and away kits. We should be proud of this.

It's a great kit and is our away kit so why not wear it when we play away?

Navy / white at home, green / yellow away. Perfect. I don't know why anyone has a problem with that.

Just back from another great away day. Not a bad performance anywhere on the pitch although I must have another look at their goal as I swear I was as close to the scorer as any of our players! Grady exceptional talent Zohore much better today, played his part. Special shout for the much maligned Jake, excellent today.

Their goal was Ajayi's fault. I understand that Slaven has complained about the lack of closing down on the cross but I think that's a bit harsh I don't think there was the time for that.

If you look at Ajayi his body position is wrong. He is square on to the striker and it's this that ultimately makes him lose his balance and fall over. He should've had his body turned in the direction of the full back who was on the ball and turning his head / looking out the corner of his eye at his opponent. Had he done that the goal never would've come about. It was a superb cross and once it was delivered that well there was no way we could've avoided that goal unless the goalscorer made a mess of it.

💬LB: “Sam Field is a bit behind in game time with pre-season, so it might take him a bit longer to catch up. But we’ve got a game on Tuesday, so that will help out." #cafc

He did play on Tuesday aswell for 70 odd mins.

He played more pre-season football than Leko did. He figured in the Carabao Cup that no-one cares about. The lad has too much ability to be ignored like he is, not even in the 18. I've said for a long time there is some serious issue with Sam.

I may have missed something but how are we third in the table. Identical record to Swansea incl. goals scored and conceded so how are we above them?

lack of fitness due to not having a preseason, they have another player in a similar position, at least that’s what Bowyer said a week or so ago.

He had a pre-season.

I'm at a loss with Sam Field. Something is not right with him, somewhere. I'm sure it'll come out in the wash at some point but normal circumstances don't seem to fit with Sam. I'd love to know the issue with him.

So, lets talk VAR then. Those of us watching heard Jesus' view!

I hate VAR. Goal line technology, great, but VAR spoils the spectacle for fans. Leave it to the ref that's what he's there for. OK sometimes they get the decisions wrong but that's life, take it on the chin. Another day the decisions will go your way.

Great result. Need to get our first home win of the season now on Wednesday. Win that game and it's been a cracking start to the season.

Isn't there also a new unknown to add to this equation? We are clearly working on a new midfield strategy which will hopefully make opposition midfields have to do a greater defensive job themselves and so prevent them landing on our back four in waves as they seemed to do for most of last season

Yes this as well mate. Last season we didn't have the legs in midfield AND we couldn't keep possession of the ball for long periods. Put these two issues together and you've no way of being solid unless as a team you defend the edge of your box and put everybody behind the ball.

I'm a Brunty fan as I think he is one of the few players who shows a genuine passion for the club and has shown loyalty to us over a long period of time. He has unquestionably given the club his best years. Although, he is probably now only going to be used on an intermittent basis, he still is maybe the best crosser at the club, and still has an excellent through pass in him.

He is definitely the best crosser at the club, everyone else is awful.

I like Hegazi but is he going to solve all of our problems? For me no. He's been part of a defence that has shipped goals for fun over the last 2 seasons. A new keeper would see a vast improvement IMO.

Agreed. He's had Dawson, Bartley, Johnstone among his back line. Egypt in ACON conceded one goal I think. Hegazi is class but he's not god he needs quality around him like anyone else. While we have Bartley and Johnstone as regular starters we will always concede more goals than ideal.

Neither . Super Bob was supporters favourite not a legend (my opinion of course)

Agreed.

IMO The only legend this club has had in forty years is Gary Megson for basically giving the kiss of life to an almost dead club. His achievement is still not fully appreciated. I'm not one for celebs or revering others but when it comes to Lord Megson if I met him I think I'd be totally overcome in sheer admiration and to be honest, gratitude.

Without him, I don't even allow myself to think where we'd be now.

I am going. I'm in that block with 510 tickets remaining. Billy no mates as usual.  ;D

Who else is going?

Our recent record against Derby isn't good in fact they are starting to become really annoying. We need to turn these over and put them in their place.

I can only see problems if we persist with zonal marking and not marking your own man.

I dont know how zonal marking can possibly be better than picking up your own allocated player, but what do I know :-\

I've never understood it either and I'm not convinced it has ever worked properly at higher levels.

Space has never scored a goal. Don't mark it. To me it's about as obvious as obvious gets.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Oliver Burke
« on: August 15, 2019, 02:37:17 PM »
In fairness to Burke he took up some good positions during the first half which gave him opportunities to run at them. I have no idea if this was by luck or design but he grew visibly frustrated when play slowed down to be passed around midfield again as these opportunities passed. I also noticed that almost every time Furlong pressed down the right he moved inside, as did Diandana on occasions when Townsend pressed on the other flank. Tactical shift to the centre in anticipation of a ball in or hiding in plain sight? Either way he was pretty much non existent when playing through the middle in the second half. His magic power is speed when breaking past as defenders turn, negate that and currently he's largely a waste of a place.

If we defend deep and smack the ball long beyond the defenders with Burke within five yards of them he can be an asset. Other than that, nothing. He doesn't anticipate anything, doesn't read the game, has no instinct, his touch is loose, his technique on the ball is poor going on very poor. He doesn't win any headers, he doesn't know how to defend from the front, the most limited of CB's just stroll past him.

Cut our losses / write off our losses and move on.

To be honest, it took me about ten minutes to notice the goal was disallowed.

I was sat there thinking we was winning before the Mrs told me the scoreboard hadn't changed.

Had to look on Twitter to confirm.

Apparently there was a foul in the build up - although there was nobody within 5 yards of Ajayi !!

Made the stadium announcer look a right tit as he also announced that Ajayi had scored

Harsh.

No-one saw anything wrong with goal so perfectly logical to announce it.

He should've announced "goal disallowed due to baffling decision by referee ....... answers on a postcard". I'd rate him for that.  ;D

Good job it weren't a league game I'd be really miffed.

As it was the Carabao Cup it's meh!

The more I watch it the more I struggle to see anything wrong with that "goal". The ball definitely doesn't looked to have gone out of play and if there was a foul I can't find it from the TV pics, maybe a slight pull as the ball is kicked (O'Shea) is my best guess. Looks bloody harsh regardless:
