Just turning on, what happened with Pant before tea which meant he could've been out?

Not one of our players has put a decent ball in all night.  We'd have to call everyone awful if that's was the measure.

That doesn't make Furlong any better...

Furlong has done well most of the night, not easy as he won't b getting much protection from Pierera.

His crossing has been awful. One in the first half when we had six in the box springs to mind

Should be a red, studs onto ball

At the very least a yellow, and he should've been booked for his handball. Yet he's currently not even got a yellow!

Outplayed so far.  Why has Ben Stokes stopped playing attacking, enterprising innings?  He's just going out to block.

The whole team pretty much went out to block.

Surely after seeing all your teammates out standing in the crease and blocking you would try something different?

You suspect that a) India's batsmen won't do the same and b) our bowlers won't be as consistent so their batsmen will get release balls

Well I thought we would lose when Livermore came on so I'm happy with that, albeit he tried his best to throw it with a counter attack for us turning to a great chance for them, great save from SJ.

We know that even against teams like MU though we need to win and Diagne just has to put at least one of his other chances away - positive is at least he's in the right position, which I suspect none of our other forwards would be.

AMN was poor and didn't look like an improvement on what we already have.

Some real interesting umpiring going on in this match.

We could still see a batting collapse from India and give us half a chance but this pitch is showing a lot of turn and I'd expect to see Ashwin and Patel cause us all sort of problems.

I think that even at the point you posted that a collapse would've been too late.

Judging from the way the pitch played in that final hour, even 300 is pretty much a game winning score.

As I mentioned in the first test, win the toss, bat first, win - hope I'm wrong though.

Great win - the toss is so, so crucial in this series.

He is.

It’s obvious who is at fault for that goal and it isn’t Peltier

I think Ajayi is slightly at fault as well

Another great hope on the wing with an appearance in each of the cups.... drum roll please...... for Yassine El Gahanassy. Only thirty and currently without a club. I don't think we're going to be looking at him in training. You never know though... :-X .

This was my shout. Saw him pop up and Football Manager recently and had to double check his history as part of me thought I was making it up that he played for us!

Please forgive my ignorance....what does it mean? I cant see it clearly when I click the link. Does it illustrate his utter inability?

In short, yes.

He is by far the worst midfielder at passing according to the graph.

The worst thing is the line to the left of the y-axis is considerably longer than it is to the right as they've had to make it so much bigger just to fit him on.

I think Grosicki's absence can be easily attributed to his lack of defensive work.

Even if we're not able to attribute certain signings to certain people (which I think we are but not the point) and we take the signings as a whole package, which it's fair to do for technical & sporting director, then I think it's a fail overall.

That failing can be, and should be, directed at Dowling.

Has Livermore ever had a good game for us in the PL?

The best I can think of is Spurs when the ball hit him on the line for the winner.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Sam Allardyce
« on: February 03, 2021, 02:28:06 PM »
While I agree with most of the posts on here about his tactics and team selection, I definitely agree with the last couple of posts more.

Even if Allardyce gets the team to play his way from here on in we still go down.

The squad isn't suited to his style, and even playing a style that is absolutely suited to his style we still go down cause the players are simply not good enough.

Dowling should be the first out the door. Yes the budget was limited but even with the small budget we've done badly with what we had. Who's to say if we spent £100m we would've brought in quality?

Second to that it's his decision to bring in a manager who's style of play is in stark contrast to the preferred style of the majority of the players.

So while Allardyce is making mistakes I'm not attributing too much blame to him but would like to see him gone (along with most the players) come the end of the season. We need a total refresh - unbelievably more so than last time we went down.

No clean sheets under Allardyce so doesn't look like that appointment has worked.

More mismanagement from the club to not get signings in time to play the two most important games of our season.

Poor game from Gallagher

Said a couple of games ago he's been poor ever since Allardyce came in
