General Football & Sports / Re: Seals watch - Anything Villa
« on: May 15, 2013, 09:01:09 AM »
I think you need to re-think your maths.

Aston Villa have not relied on anybody but Aston Villa to make us safe.

He's actually right because if villa beat Wigan on the weekend then they'd stay up, regardless of whether Arsenal lost last night.

I don't like sticking up for a villain but I find all this a bit cringeworthy, it's a bit like some have a chip on their shoulder. Hate to say it but Villa deserve to stay up. If I take away the rivalry and the fans and the fact I hate Villa from spending a year going to school in Aston, they are a club doing things the right way. If you hate the way QPR did business then you'd be a hypocrite to not be able to even give villa a pat on the back. Blooding youngsters, English youngsters! Not spending tons on old failed prem players (a la Samba).

The real tragedy is that Stoke continue to consolidate in the premier league!

I don't think I've seen us play so bad this season. Can't even pass a ball 5 yards without screwing it up. Awful.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Peter Odemwingie
« on: May 07, 2013, 09:20:44 AM »
In the above link to an article in the Birmingham Mail, it states that Odemwingie, ‘took exception to the six-letter expletive being yelled within earshot of his wife and baby.’ This is totally untrue as anyone nearby knows. His wife and baby were a quarter of the length of the pitch away and 100% absolutely not ‘within earshot’.  In an article in the Express and Star it says, ‘Odemwingie is believed to have been stung by criticism from a supporter as he spoke to his wife.’ Where did the press get this erroneous information … from speculative posts earlier in this thread? I wanted to drop this, but it is important to know that an Albion fan DID NOT insult an Albion player in front of his family. This fabricated scene implies that Odemwingie was in some way trying to protect his family’s dignity. Nothing is further from the truth. In neither article did it mention the fact that he snarled he would see me outside, a euphemism everyone knows to mean I want a fight with you. I am a passionate Albion fan who was and still is disgusted by the way Odemwingie dragged our club through the mud. If my actions have caused any other Albion fan discomfort, I sincerely apologise. For those who have given me words of support, I am humbled and grateful.

Good for you chap. He deserves it. You pay your money to watch and he gets thousands to play. More than some of us would earn in 3 years, in a week! If that's how you wanted to express yourself then I say good for you!

Highly enjoyable on football first. The back rarely got tested but when called upon Foster did superb. I noticed Ridgewell got closed down a lot on the ball. Yacob did his usual job well, Dorrans looked good and delivered good set pieces though certain people won't see that. Did Morrisson get injured?!
Front 3 were great, Fortunes and Lukaku both put their hands on the badge after scoring with the latter kissing the badge and really looking like he was soaking up the support and loving the club!
Shame Fortune was silly as he had a great game and now his seasons over

Peace on the whole, some credit to Ashworth. Manager wise they all deserve credit, and also Gary Megson who kept us in division 1 i'll never forget that game against Charlton, the turning point.

Very good again today in my eyes. Loads of promise if he continues to improve.

i've got a lot of love for billy jones at the moment. he has been left lacking positionally this season at times but massive threat going forward and for me, dorrans in front of him work very well

Shall we chalk that one off as a bad day at the office.

Wrong decision to play 4-4-2 today IMO.  West Ham are good at home, they flood the midfield and play one up front.  We should have matched that IMO.  I dont think Long and Lukaku can play up front together.  They we both poor.

Mulumbu had been having his ankles clipped all day and lost his rag.  Shouldnt react like that though.

Agreed. I only saw the second half and apart from that one spell west ham had we were the better for that half. the defending from all 3 big lads at the back for their 3rd was absolutely dire, if ball-watching needed a definition then that was it.

Mulumbu was stupid but it did make me laugh the way he pointed at O'neill afterwards "YOU"!

Odemwingie was like a man posessed and if not for that 40 yarder id say he made a positive impact.

Rosenberg deserves a mention and a start for Long if you ask me, great left foot drive from him and tireless chasing. Give the guy a chance now europe is well away.

I've only seen the 2nd half to me it seems like we played well but made mistakes at the back and not taken our chances or advantage of being in good positions

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Markus Rosenberg
« on: March 21, 2013, 08:57:55 AM »
Shane Long is the best permanent striker we have at the club lol!!
and all this stuff about Rosenberg not been played in his best position is a load of old codswollop cause if
someone is good enough then it doesnt matter where they play. Steve Clarke doesnt seem to rate
him, so what does that say about
our manager ? CLUELESS?, OUT OF HIS DEPTH ?.
I seem to remember that fans were crying out for Simon Cox to be given a chance in his favoured 4-4-2
posistion but at the end of the day he`s still as s**** as ever even as his wish has been granted at
N. Forest.

There's an article on the official site with Clarke empathising with Markus just pointing out how Long and Luk have been hard to get past and because the team shaped up to 1 up front even harder. He also said he wants Markus to get a chance in the final 8 games.

I'd like to see him get a chance and start a few up top now is a good time to give people chances.

I believe judging him as fans with the minutes we've seen of him is harsh and unfair but as a person I'm more about giving people chances and having patience it's not really our job to pick and choose who goes and stays we should support the players at least he hasn't taken to twitter he's just got his head down and trained well and applied himself I'd say we should concentrate more on supporting players with his attitude that slating players with petes attitude

« on: March 20, 2013, 07:04:27 PM »
i think there'll be more changes this summer than we're used to, its been a stable club for a while, but we'l lose odemwingie for sure, lukaku probs wont come back. doubt we'd lose anybody else but you never know a club may come in for olsson, yacob, mulumbu and. Add to all that Richard Garlik and Steve Clarke are both newish it could be the most challenging season since promotion. I still think we'll be ok but maybe down a bit on this year maybe 12th-14th

He's saying so much and that it's his wish to be sacked amongst many other things is too far now! Put him in the reserves now don't sack him and if he doesn't turn up dock his wages everytime!

Foster

Reid (Unfortunately don't expect him to be fit, so Jones in his place)
Mcauley
Olsson
Ridgewell

Dorrans
Mulumbu
Yacob
Brunt

Morrison

Lukaku

Subs: Myhill, Tamas, Popov, Thomas, Fortune, Rosenberg, Odemwingie

I'd go with that team, maybe Popov in for Ridgewell i don't like the way Liam backed off more and more for Swanseas non-goal

when Dorrans scorred that free kick was it last season or the one before? i'm trying to remember if the last two results there were 1-1 with vela scoring and 2-1 with dorrans scoring.

Wonder what kit we'll wear

i think in terms of match day prices, there should be Category A, B, and C games. Games like Newcastle shouldn't cost as much as Man U in my opinion.

Just thought id add this. Most feel Mark Chapman would be a great host, bring back Lee Dixon and get Jamie Carragher in.

I don't think they'd make wholesale changes, but i could see the pundits all being replaced and Linekar staying. I like the idea of the old football Italia presenting coming in and "referees room". Also Pet Nevin i think it is who is very clever.
