Was a pivotal part of the Newcastle squad that tore the championship up with Dwight Gayle

I think he joined Newcastle as soon as they got promoted to the Prem so didn't play for them in the championship

Matt Wilson from the E and S saying we have rejected the loan bid from Boro. Unless Boro were offering a cash fee in January, not sure why Pulis thought we would strengthen a rival on the cheap.

strengthen?!  ???

Old stories. Lots of ifs, maybes and could

was about to say, journalism at it's finest that isn't it  :D

I'm undecided on Jay Rod, £18m is a lot to turn down but would we re-invest £10m+ on a replacement?! I'd like to think so but would we?! We'd need to

His contract expires next year.

Pretty sure he's free to start negotiating a summer Bosman with interested parties from January onwards.

That is true, but didn't someone say the club can activate an additional year on his contract? I may be wrong but if so I wonder when we can do that

Sky Sports are reporting Newcastle are signing Muto after agreeing a fee

Wonder if this affects Newcastle's proposed move for Rondon?

From what I saw at the world cup he was a different type of player so may not but who knows. Does this free up Gayle?!

Sky Sports reporting Barnes has signed new 4 year deal with Leicester & will join us on loan for the season

If they leave late and we're well compensated then perhaps our targets will change?

Clubs all over Europe are involved in this merry-go-round, sadly it's not just a case of us cherry picking and then waiting to sell.

Stoke get round this by being bankrolled by a very, very rich family.

The only danger there is our window closes on Aug 9th whilst the majority of Europe's windows don't close until Aug 31st I believe!

I appreciate we can loan players until Aug 31st, even with a view to purchase in the following window but it still may rule out some replacements. Without being too negative - it wouldn't shock me to see us pocketing the cash for a couple of players like Rondon / Chadli & only being able to loan to replace

I was told that dates of 31st July and 4th August were the dates for Rondon and Chadli’s clause expiry dates were.

Cheers. I guess we're a little stumped until those dates pass

Not sure how it's going to play out, especially with the new transfer window format / other windows closing at month end - but at least it would be in our own hands after the clauses expire

Apologies if this has been asked before but does anyone know if / when Rondon's release clause expires?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Daniel Sturridge Joins Albion On Loan
« on: January 29, 2018, 12:21:07 PM »
I have just looked at those odds and they don't include Loans - can't see us affording him on a permanent deal - but I hope I am wrong.  A fit Sturridge would be the best striker we could get but thats if he stays fit.

Loan deals do count on Skybet, however pre contracts don't

However Newcastle have gone odds on & we've been pushed out to 6s just so ...

It's the exact reason I refuse to get excited by the change in odds on a transfer rumour

Am I the only one who can see Evans staying past the deadline? I can't see us selling our best defender now regardless of Ali Gabr joining. I think the club are probably hoping to sell some players on the fringes to free up the wage bill such as Yacob, Burke, Livermore, Mcclean,

No, I am thinking the exact same. And provided Burke only left on loan I'm happy for all 4 aforementioned players to leave this window

Pardew Interview according to SKy Sports;

PARDEW CAGEY ON EVANS FUTURE

Reporters have wasted little time getting stuck into Alan Pardew on the subject of Jonny Evans' future at West Brom.

The player has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in this window, so what does Pardew make of it all?

"The Arsenal deal is paper talk, someone has released that and it's not true. Jonny is still at the football club and we've not had a bid put to us which is anywhere near acceptable.

"We might sell if the price is right. We’ve had a couple of enquiries of what we would be looking for, and the answer has been ‘we're not going to tell you’.

"You make a bid and you'll get some gauge. We don’t really want to sell Jonny but we’ll see."

Showing on SSN Transfer Centre that we have agreed the deal but nothing on the official site as of yet

Also says Schurrle is not currently being considered ...

There is no AFCON 2018. Its a biennial tournament. Otherwise selling Evans at a time we lose Hegazi would be a disaster.

I think the slight confusion for some comes as there is an African Nations Championship, which doesn't generally incorporate 'full / first team squads' which is being held as we speak but you are correct

This what I cant get my head round, all this talk about Mcinnes is just because he is an ex player.

Exactly, unfortunately a sentimental appointment won't save our season

They are in no way ITK or anything but a lad on twitter says he trained with the u23's this morning briefly before passing his medical

I'm clutching at straws to be honest but is there any wonder why!?

ANNOUNCE IT ALBION!  :P ;D

The suspense & excitement is killing me!

If this turns out to be Leicester or another club I really wouldn't want to be this computer screen

21
If you're an Albion fan & not excited at this news, you never will be!

I'm still crossing fingers & not counting chickens but IF we pull this off then hat's off to the club. This guy is the real deal

not sure if it's already been said but there's no need to scramble to find the 'loollz' tweet - it's on the official site! i hoped for and expected a better calibre of player with the names thrown around the last few days but will give the lad a chance before writing him off, in my opinion he is an upgrade on Lambert!

General Football & Sports / Re: Saido Berahino
« on: July 16, 2016, 07:46:15 AM »
I don't think he fits very well into Pulis's team as he will probably play with Rondon up top on his own meaning Saido will have to play in that deeper role, which as we saw last season he's not very good at. I can see him going to Palace, I think they will stump up £20 million and he'l be off as its a London team.

If that was to happen I would want to see a serious offer for a real quality player who can be the link between the midfield and Rondon, our ability to be able to create goal scoring opportunities from open play was severely lacking last season.

Great post, absolutely agree

to fulfil his life-long dream of playing alongside craig gardner?
