WESTBROM.COM FORUM RULES
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:25:35 PM »
Welcome To The WestBrom.com Message Board

Site contact: webmaster@westbrom.com or OldburyWBA@hotmail.co.uk

All posts, topics, threads etc are copyright of WestBrom.com and no content is to be taken for any purpose without prior authorisation.

Below are the terms of use upon which we provide access to the WestBrom.com Message Board. By using our message board you agree to abide by these terms of use. If you do not accept the terms of use below then please exit the forum immediately.

New members are advised to take the time to read through the message board rules in order to gauge the feel of the forum.

About Us

WestBrom.com currently has four Administrators on the message board, those being Dexy, LiamTheBaggie, MarkW and OldburyWBA. Along with five Global Moderators, Adder, Hull Baggie, lewisant, Political Cake and tommcneill. Because of the number of Admin and GM's the board has, it is hopefully very well looked after and there is usually at least one of us around if you need us for anything.

There is to be NO racism on this message board.

There is to be NO sexism on this message board. A sense of humour is allowed, but I’m sure we all know where to draw the line.

Personal abuse or over aggressiveness towards members (be they Albion supporters or rival fans) will not be tolerated. Initial offenders can expect to be issued with a warning, then a permanent ban if they continue to break these rules. Please respect other people’s opinions even if you disagree with them.

ALL Admin and Global Moderators are to be treated with respect. Feel free to debate with them all you like on the message board but when decisions concerning discipline or running of the message board are made, these decisions MUST be respected.

Posters perceived as undermining the ability of mods and admins to run the site are subject to infractions. Incessant arguing about moderation, insulting Moderators or Administrators, and the repeated starting of threads questioning why a specific act of moderation was taken, are all examples of this. Repeat offenders are subject to having their posting privileges permanently removed.

Members are not allowed the use of PM's until they have made 50 posts.

Members with 25 posts or less will NOT be allowed to request tickets or offer any tickets for sale on the forums.

IM's / PM's should be private between two members and should not be passed on to anyone else except Admin (if necessary) without the senders permission. You can report an IM/PM as you can any post or thread should you feel that the IM/PM sent to you is in any way offensive. Only Administrators will look into these reported allegations.

Any complaints regarding posts should be sent to Admin or GM by IM/PM not via the Announcements, Feedback & Questions board. That should be primarily used for general enquiries.

Posting Rules

Although there are no demands as far as grammar or spelling is concerned, if your posts are difficult to read or understand, or the use of text speak is used, then they are more than likely going to be locked or deleted. There is a spell checker provided on the message board for anyone who wishes to use it. Persistent offenders will be warned and then banned from the site if they persist.

Foul language and swearing in thread titles and posts is prohibited. If you do feel it’s necessary to swear then please use **** as appropriate. Any posts containing excess or needless swearing will be removed or edited and repeat offenders will be pm'd and then banned if warnings are continually ignored.

Before you post, read down the board and make sure nobody has posted on the same subject recently. It is not necessary to start a new topic just to make your point heard. So please bear in mind that repetitive threads/topics/posts on the same subject will be locked, deleted or moved.

Posts not on the correct thread will be deleted straight away, if you can't be bothered reading the rules, we can't be bothered to let you know your post has been deleted.

Please do not edit other members posts to change the meaning of that post etc. It will be removed.

Continuous posting of off-topic/chit-chat material in the main Baggies Message Board is deemed unacceptable. WestBrom.com provides an off-topic forum so off-topic content should be kept in the appropriate forum. The Main Baggies Message Board should be primarily used for the discussion of West Bromwich Albion Football Club. Persistent offenders will be warned then banned from the site if the persist. All posts are the views and opinions of the individual poster and not necesarilly the views and opinons of WestBrom.com, its owners or the team that run the site.

Please do not promote other forums or social media accounts or indeed any other outside material etc without at least asking us first as it will result in your post being removed, manners cost nothing.

Please respect the opinions of others, do not tell them their opinion is rubbish or wrong for example. An opinion is not rubbish or wrong, its an opinion, people have differing opinions which you may or may not agree with so please reply with respect and not insults such as Happy Clappers and Doom Mongers for example.

PLEASE DO NOT POST IN CAPITAL LETTERS. This applies to both thread titles and posts.

PLEASE DO NOT USE COLOURED TEXT IN POSTS, USE BLACK WRITING ONLY.

Posting merely to lift a thread back to the top of the board aka bumping posts, be it your own or otherwise, is not allowed and your post will be deleted.

Although we provide smileys for general use on the forum they should be used sparingly, one smiley per post should generally be enough to convey your emotions. Any posts that overuse smileys may be deleted as will posts containing only smileys.

When quoting previous posts please ensure that you only quote from two previous posts (unless absolutely necessary) may be edited/deleted.

Please do not post one word posts, if you agree/disagree with a fellow poster please explain why instead of just 'agreed' etc.

Instant 7 day ban for any member abusing players/ officials on the forum. We do not want posts where players or any officials are called wa**er, pricks etc. This forum is better than that.

On Westbrom.com we do not allow talk and names of future Managers/ Head Coaches whilst the position is currently held so please refrain from doing so as the post will be removed.

Member Accounts

Any member that creates more than one account can expect to have their duplicate account deleted and if the persist then ALL of their accounts withdrawn from the forum.

All accounts must show a valid email address on the profile (You have the option to hide from other members but they are viewable to mods and admin).

All accounts that are inactive for a period of 365 days will be deleted, this figure is subject to change. All banned members will remain banned and any we find slip through will be banned again.

Your account is exclusive to you and you alone, do not share your password with anybody else. Members who allow others to use their log-in details will have their account cancelled.

Please refrain from posting on behalf of banned members. If you do not respect this rule then you will be warned and persistent offenders will be banned from using this forum.

Members are given the ability to create their own signature. However image signatures are strictly prohibited, as they slow the loading time of each page down. Text signatures if used should be small in size and no more than 4 lines in total, and kept to black text opposed to colour which the moderating team use from time to time. Please do not use bold writing or have moving text across the page. All these points detract from the actual post. Your respect of this is appreciated.

Westbrom.com is a politics free forum, we no longer allow political topics in any section of the forum. We also do not allow the use of political avatars or signatures. This is a football forum not a politics board. We will also edit any signature we deem to the detriment of the forum.

PLEASE DO NOT USE A MOVING AVATAR AS THEY WILL BE REMOVED DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF BANDWIDTH THEY TAKE UP.

Usernames

Usernames should be no longer than 15 characters in length, new members creating accounts will be rejected if this is breached and current members will be asked to change their username due to the current forum template. We do not allow any usernames which are considered political. This is a football board not a politics board.

Opposition Fans

If you a fan of another club then you are expected to be courteous at all times. Please respect the fact that WestBrom.com is a site specifically provided for West Bromwich Albion supporters. Anybody who visits the message board with intent of winding members up or posting malicious content will be banned immediately and their posts will be removed.

Touts

Any touts can expect their posts to be deleted, their membership rescinded and WBAFC will be contacted of the member’s activities.

Advertising

Advertising third-party websites/services is not permitted unless you have been given permission by WestBrom.com to do so. This also applies to general advertising and includes links in forum signatures. To apply for permission to advertise on WestBrom.com then please contact a member of Admin.

Banning Information

When you breach any of the rules on WestBrom.com a member of the Admin/GM team will normally warn you via Personal Message first. If you fail to stop and persist with your behaviour then a 7 day posting ban will be issued to you. If after that you continue to disrupt the forum then a total ban will be issued. Admin and Global Moderators DO have the right to ban outright without warning.

Threats to other members and/or admin team either on the forum or via dm will result in an automatic ban from the forum.

Rule Amendments
The following amendments and reminders to the Forum Rules were added on 2/11/09:

1 - Any swearing anywhere on the forum not using *** will be removed. Excessive and needless swearing even using *** will be removed and persistant offenders warned.

2 - Members who continually post only in Off Topic will be PM'd and reminded that this is an Albion Forum first and foremost, if ignored member will be banned from the site.

3 - Atmosphere, sitting/ standing, Brummie/ Smethwick and Rangers/ Celtic topics will automatically be removed from the site as they are amongst the most common problems.

4 - Zero tolerance on bickering/ insulting other members. One insult will result in a warning, second insult will be a 7 day ban no excuses, next one will be a 14 day ban and the next will be a permanent ban. This is not a playground. If you disagree with another member fine but respond with reasons why not insults and petty comments. Threats towards others will result in automatic ban.

5 - Posters are requested to keep topics on topic. If there is a different point you wish to make about a subject, start a new thread but check to see if one exists first.

6 - We encourage posters to not use one word answers in posts, if you agree with something say why and the same if you disagree. Posts which contain replies consisting of smilies only or 'lol' will be removed.

7 - A Moderators decision is final, please respect this and do not argue if you are unhappy with any decision. If you feel aggrieved then you have the option of PMing a member of admin who will look into your complaint.

Finally

The Admin and Global Moderator team run this board voluntarily. Sometimes we have to make difficult or unpopular decisions. If you wish to abuse mods or admin for doing their job, you can expect some time off.

We hope you enjoy the WestBrom.com message board.

Best Regards

The WestBrom.com Moderating Team

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We do not allow text language to be used on this forum. It's there in the forum rules and if people continue to post in text language (ie u instead of you, b4 instead of before, m8 instead of mate) their posts will be removed.

Whilst you may be comfortable typing and reading like that, there are a lot of people that can't understand it.

The only acceptable abbreviations we will allow on the forum are: lol, imo, pmsl, lmao, rofl and terms like those.

Any others will be removed, no exceptions.

Please also note, we will NOT be PM'ing members with explanations as to why your post is removed, but you will get a standard reply if you ask.

We will be keeping a log of persons whose posts are removed and will ban persistant offenders for 7 day periods after 5 post removals. If you again post using text speak after a ban, your first post will be removed, if you do it again you will receive a further 7 day ban.

Your 3rd 7 day ban will also be your permanent exclusion from the forum.
THE FOLLOWING WORDS ARE CLASSED AS TEXT SPEAK AND ANY POSTS WHICH CONTAIN THEM WILL BE REMOVED

Time for a reminder of this after a few recent posts:

Whats getting pathetic on this site lately is people who seem to be failing to understand why sites like this exist. Its for people who have differing views and opinions on the Albion, a club we all support on here (apart from the token dingle and stokie). If people don't like the site then find another, there's no doubt other inferior ones with no modding whatsoever around for you or you can stick to Facebook, upto you really.

The day this site becomes one where every person has to have the same 'positive' view is the day we might as well close it down.

Until then cut the petty rubbish, cut the insults and learn to post within the rules otherwise those that can't do that will be the ones leaving us.

Folks, we're getting too many of the above on this forum and I don't think people at times understand the possible repercussions of some of the comments and posts that are made especially at emotive times. There is no such thing as free speech these days, eg:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-31299325

Do you really want to take the risk, can you afford to take the risk and is it worth taking the risk ?

Please think before posting as anyone taking action will not be taking it against the forum, it will be taken against the person posting so don't think hiding behind a username will help.

We do try and remove comments when we see them and have done many times but we do miss them at times as we are only human with jobs and lives away from this forum (he says posting this at 1.52am  :D ) so please be careful.

If you post and your post is removed, instead of complaining in the topic ask one of the admin or mod team why it was removed, we do not just remove things because we disagree with you as some seem to think and at times suggest, we're above that. If you complain in the topic then that will just be removed anyhow.

We are accused at times of over-moderation, probably true at times but its done for your and the forums itselfs benefit.

In a nutshell:

Please rest assured that if the site is threatened with legal action for something that you have posted then we will have no qualms in passing your details on, ultimately you are responsible for what you write.

Just to repeat what has been posted in the Sam Allardyce topic as we seem to be getting back to the stage where some think they can post what they like and sod the consequences, it ain't going to happen. Over the next week or so there may not be many of us around to keep an eye on whats going on so more important people take note as we may not be able to remove things straight away but things will get removed and if people do not take notice of us then there will be a reduction in the number of members on this forum so last warning -

Can we cut the personal stuff out then folks. Some like the bloke, some don't and people are allowed to have their onions without getting grief back.

I don't want to have to start issuing bans but if people cannot act like adults then Christmas spirit or not this site will be losing a few members so your choice folks cut the digs and personal stuff or take a permanent break from the forum.

Thats applies to ALL topics on this forum not just this one.

There has been an increase in the swearing on the forum which needs to stop folks.

Yes, we're all adults and use it in everyday language and i'll admit to be one of the worst at times but its not what is wanted on the forum.

We have a swear filter but trying to get round it by using "naughty word" and c*nt" is not acceptable so any post containing anything like it or other swearing will be removed no matter where its a couple of words or a 3 paragraph essay.

We will not be editing posts anymore so upto you all.

Okay, goodbye then.

Given that you admit most of us use such language in our normal lives (including you) and you are also censoring those who replace swear words with replacements, I don't see that that leaves me any choice but to go. I don't mind not swearing, by replacing the swear words with alternatives, but I despise hypocrisy. So, as I said, goodbye.

It isn't really hypocrisy though Bilic surely? Films gets graded as U, 12, 18 etc, it doesn't mean those who work at the grading bodies don't swear themselves. It just means that in some settings, swearing isn't appropriate for the audience and as this forum is open to kids as well as adults, it's a fair decision to ask people not to swear on the forum.

Fight for your right to Potty (mouth)?

You can't beat 80's music. Although this song wasn't one of my favourites.

Now modern "music" is one thing guaranteed to make me swear so I guess we better end this conversation here.  ;)

Nothing hypocritical at all. The censored words functions replaces it completely however removing one letter still leaves it entirely in view. This forum is viewed by many people including children so we have a duty to make it family friendly where possible and we will.

Yep, I swear in public but when i'm typing on a forum I can restrain myself, seems some can't.

I personally haven't seen any swearing and I think it's going a bit far if someone has entered symbols to replace a swear word we are football fans after all so it's not like we're Buddhist monks so I see your point of view.

You don't see it as we try to avoid it.

Can't please everyone but its not new, the rules have been in place for a few years. Maybe its time for some to actually read them and abide by them instead of complaining when we issue a reminder.

I'm sure you would be thrilled for your kids/ grandkids to be running round to their mates repeating some swearing they've just read on here. We're not responsible for elsewhere but we are for on this forum

The kids swearing thing. There's a social issue here and I have my own views on that. That, though, is a discussion for a broader community and I'm sure no one wants to get into that on here.

Let's simplify things though guys. The Admin on here aren't our enemy. They are giving up their free time to look over this forum. It's not that big an issue. They have their reasons why they create the rules that they do and does it really, seriously hurt any of us to try to abide by them?

Come on, just comply!

When people join a forum they agree to abide by the rules of that forum, thats all we are asking.

Do you honestly think i've put this on today because one person swore in a post? you don't get to see what gets removed or edited on a daily basis as if you did i'm sure some of it you would agree is not acceptable to be a public forum.

It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.
Oh, and always remember to defecate on those Vile chaps in claret and spew.

So, as I said, goodbye.

quite ironic given your moniker !

What a perfectly reasonable request, I do swear at work, but I don't around children or where it may cause offence, so following my second rule, perfectly reasonable.
