They really are still fairly rubbish minus Grealish despite the hundreds of millions theyve spent.

250/300 million in two seasons to finish mid table gives some idea of the mountain that now needs to be climbed for clu s to get established in the Premier League utterly  ridiculous!!

That's why we shouldn't beat ourselves up, too much, about this season. We just don't have the cash to compete.

Their problem remains the manager. His results without Grealish are abysmal. At both levels.

Anyone think there was a bit of schadenfreude with the penalty that Kane won against the Villa. It is something he does well; manufacturing frees for himself but Villa also over the past three years or so have regularly look to initiate contact to win fouls rather than aim to maintain possession.

It's a trick we need to instil into our players at all levels. Only then will referees be trained to recognise that it is little more than cheating and punish accordingly

Wilder wanted to resign and be paid £4m for doing so according to this interview

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12255769/sheffield-united-owner-prince-abdullah-chris-wilder-resigned-twice-wanted-4m-pay-off

The owner said he wanted almost a years wage to resign. So if Wilder is on over 4m a year he wont be coming here regardless.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but is this the first criticism of a manager from a foreign owner? If it is, it’s quite damning. It may also set a precedent as to how failing managers/coaches are rewarded.

The mentalist at sheff wednesday has also been quite vocal in the press.

OK. Sheffield has to be where one-upmanship is a comical battle. I should have narrowed it down to Premier league(not Sheffield).

Wilder signed a four year deal in 2020 it had roughly 3 years to run so the £4m would have been the balance of the contract which is what Sheffield United would have had to pay him. They wanted him to stay but they wanted him to work with a DoF and looking at the absolute black hole their recruitment has been that is not wholly unreasonable. If he wanted resign fine not a problem but not a penny is due in compensation.

If the interview is half true I wouldn't touch Wilder with a 10 foot pole.

sad thing is I'm inclined to believe the article is largely correct, I would imagine the £4m would have been his agents starting point for negotiation, (a ridiculous one admittedly but this is football in the UK in 2021)

Or..... they've accepted our relegation and have done a deal with Dowling to sell him to us for £16m in July.  ;)
