Not been a great day for keepers with Pickford, Ederson and now Pope really struggling. Hopefully this weather eases off before our imposter gets his go tomorrow.

Some of the keeper errors today have been awful, Johnstone isn’t great and would be slated big style.
It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

After 3 games and 3 losses, Sean Dyche has hinted that Burnley wont be signing anyone else this window now. They have only signed a reserve goalkeeper and Dale Stephens this summer, bit of a spartan window.

Dyche and the club will argue they have players to come from injury and the side finished 10th last season so the squad wont become poor players over night, but with reports of tension at the club, they are definitely one to target.

I can see Dyche walking to be honest. Might be a time for him to save face?

I can to aswell.

Around May time the national press were reporting he had fallen out with the board over their refusal to offer new contracts to certain key players and the indication that money was not available to replace them with the same quality or better.

It was played down by all parties but it seems the report was quite factual.

In general I hold two things to be true.

The media overblow the importance of trading players and too often frame the narrative as coach in conflict with board. The pinnacle of such nonsense is manager walks because board refuses to back him. That is the S*n's sports editors wet dream.

This summer ,however Burnley might test both of those suppositions.

In short the squad is old, thin and is carrying a number of players whose injury records are a cause for concern. If nothing else they need a few extra bodies even if they don't massively improve the quality.

Yet as it stands their squad of 25 includes 4 keepers. Of the 21 outfield players two are youngsters who have virtually no experience of senior football at any level. Over half of the rest are over 30. 14 of the squad are going into the last year of contract.

That's not good. Add into the mix the fairly public spat when the board refused to extend contracts post lockdown and I would not be surprised to see Dyche quit.

However with talk of a takeover bubbling in the background Dyche might just wait and see what happens

Man United beaten 1-6 at home. At least something to smile about this weekend. Though expect them to be linked with everyone imaginable over next 24 hrs.

How on earth VAR can send off Martial for that and not Lamela is beyond me. The right decision would have been to send Lamela off and book Martial. It’s simply inexcusable that they get those decisions so wrong when they have people reviewing.

Besides that, it’s always funny to see United get Pumped

If Gibbs is red, Martial is red.

Nice to see a bit of consistency for a change.
