I think you are right in all fairness. He will be expected to hit the ground  running, and he clearly likes the idea of having lots of money to spend. As a manager he had a lot of success with Ajax, but not so well when he stepped up to Inter, so this is a risk........

I would just love to know where all the Palace cash is coming from.....

Think you've hit the nail on the head there.

I wonder if Wagner at Huddersfield will outlast a poor first 10 games or so?

Can see it being someone like Bilic or Hughes personally.

Both in relatively stable clubs but haven't been able to kick on to the next level with frustration appearing in the fan base. Think the newly promoted clubs are more likely to trust their managers until at least January time.

They're playing a risky game and have done since arriving in the Premier League, I remember Cabaye was a classic example of this; bought past his prime and on £80k p/w, which is high now but two years ago was even more. Obviously the Bolaise money can fund some of their transfers but they risk it every year. I expect at some point they will wind up like Sunderland after a few bad transfers and when the money runs dry.

Hughes for me,probably should have gone last year.

Imagine if we sign Walters , 10 games in Stoke are bottom, Hughes goes, Pullis goes back and then he's got Saido 3 stone heavier and still without a goal 😂😂

Yes he is, but I think they're more about throwing money around than having any kind of long-term model. I think they should be ok for the next two seasons regardless but I don't think they can spend like that forever and expect to make a profit.

Everton have made a bid for Benfica forward Raul Jimenez, believed to be around €45million (£39.6million), but the Portuguese club will only accept a fee of €50million (£44million), according to reports in Portugal. This will be their sixth signing in this window. No doubt we'll be looking for a cut price deal for one of the players they will be discarding >:(

Ive always liked that about Albion though, weve always clapped former players on their return when they did us a great service.

I don't mind it either to be honest. I remember seeing him for the first time against Liverpool at home I think - he was unpredictable but tore the defence a new one... loved watching him thereafter. You could always tell he was going to be a big player. Even if we had signed him on the last day [instead of sick note], he wouldn't have been with us for long anyway.

Yes I well remember that game against Liverpool - made Jamie Carragher look an absolute numpty - he's still going round in circles now

Think we're in a minority here! I applauded him the first time he came back but not since.

It's ok the first time they come back, but he was a loan signing for a short period.

I remember when he single-handedly won the game for Everton against us after we were 2-0 up? Scored the winner I believe and was clapped after. Think he was subbed on at 2-0 down too and had a hand in all 3 goals.

Do remember he celebrated in front of the Smethwick though  >:(
