Thanks

General Football & Sports / darts world championship
« on: December 22, 2015, 07:16:17 PM »
anyone been watching this year yet? anyone got any thoughts on who could win it?

I reckon MVG is going to be very hard to beat the longer it goes on, can't see anyone taking 6 sets off him.
Peter Wright/Gary Anderson/Adrian Lewis also have very good chances, as they can turn it on whenever they want.
Dave Chisnall should like the sets format more than legs format

Anyone been watching the world championships? Who are we expecting to win this year?

I reckon it'll be Adrian Lewis, obviously MVG and Taylor will be thereabouts but I think Lewis with deller training him will be good enough and possibly want it more.
I hope Barney wins it though  ;D

Also been impressed with some of the new lads like Keegan brown and van de pas

not sure where to put this but just been reading a football magazine and it shows a chart of all the teams to have had players who have made the England world cup squads of the past. Albion have had 5: 1 in 1970, 2 in 1962 and 3 in 1958, does anyone know who these 5 players would have been?

General Football & Sports / Joseph Minala

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26162408

Lazio have threatened legal action against those who have questioned the legitimacy of the age of their 17-year-old Cameroonian player Joseph Minala.
The Italian side stated that his birth certificate is "absolutely legitimate".
Lazio added:  "We reserve the right to take action against those responsible for the protection of the good name of the company and the footballer."
The midfielder also issued a statement via the club's website denying he told an African website he was 41.
He said: "I have read the alleged statements posted on the website senego.net in which it says I confessed my real age which was different to what was stated in my [official] documents.
"They are false statements that have been attributed to me by people who do not know."
Minala joined the Rome club last summer and recently played for them in the Viareggio Cup youth tournament.

looking at the picture of him he looks in his 30s at least  ;D

General Football & Sports / How many different sports have you been to?
« on: December 03, 2012, 01:31:57 PM »
How many different sports have you attended apart from football and what did you make of the experience?

The only other sports I have been to are darts and horse racing, thought the darts was great live, funny atmosphere with quite cheap tickets, horse racing was different, more of a whole day thing but can get expensive.

(sorry if this should be in woodman)

General Football & Sports / The 'tape' rule
« on: August 19, 2012, 11:30:47 PM »
Never have I heard such rubbish, you now can only tape your socks up with the same colour tape as your socks, surely the FA have got better things to do with their spare time

we was talking at the pub earlier and was trying to name some managers who used to play for the same club and if any was any good (linked to the Appleton favourite for Albion). we thought of Francis at Blues, Shearer at Newcastle and a few others but couldn't think of any ones who became a success.

so can you think of a good manager and player for same club?

General Football & Sports / other football leagues
« on: April 22, 2012, 09:11:39 PM »
just noticed how we have a official premiership and championship and seria A thread now so was wondering if we could have one for the other leagues because I know a few like to talk about MLS and Portugese teams.

just looking at some of the other leagues and I see Juventus are top of Seria A and are currently 4-0 up against Roma, Juventus have played 32 before tonight and won 18 drew 14 and lost 0.

Unsavoury scenes erupted at the Marassi after the hosts went down 4-0 to the Bianconeri with just 53 minutes on the clock, as ultras forced the team to remove their shirts

General Football & Sports / does it matter if he is English?
« on: February 09, 2012, 02:42:55 PM »
so the big talking point as always, does the English manager have to be English?

I personally would give it to Harry but simply because he is the best manager for the job who would take it. I think Mourinho wouldn't take it because he wants to make Real Madrid better than Barcelona and now has a great chance of doing it.

For me it doesn't matter if this manager is English or not, it should simply be about if he is the best manager for the job, i do feel that he has to be able to talk English without having a translator though.

19
so who would you say is the one player that you was excited about when Albion signed but he turned out to be quite rubbish?

for me it has to be Kanu, was so excited when we signed him, and then as soon as I saw him play I realised that he was 5 times better than any other player we had and they couldn't read the passes he was going to make

General Football & Sports / FA CUP 5th round draw
« on: January 29, 2012, 03:57:51 PM »
MILLWALL or SOUTHAMPTON v BOLTON
SUNDERLAND or MIDDLESBROUGH v ARSENAL or ASTON VILLA
NORWICH v LEICESTER
STEVENAGE v TOTTENHAM
CRAWLEY v STOKE
CHELSEA v BIRMINGHAM
EVERTON v BLACKPOOL or SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY
LIVERPOOL v BRIGHTON

so it would have been Leicester then which would have been boring but a chance to go through, good draw for Crawley and Stevenage

Six people died when a bus carrying a Togolese football team plunged into a ravine and caught fire.

The accident happened 100 miles (160km) north of the capital, Lome, as the Etoile Filante [Shooting Star] team was travelling to a match.

In addition to the six technical staff who were killed, 25 people were admitted to hospital with serious injuries or severe burns.

Among those killed was former Togo national goalkeeper Charles Balogoun.

Reports said that a tyre burst before the bus toppled over and fell down the ravine. The accident happened on Saturday near the city of Atakpame.

General Football & Sports / Peter Reid sacked from Plymouth
« on: September 18, 2011, 12:54:22 PM »
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14964634.stm

feel a bit sorry for him to be honest, he put in his own money to keep the club going, sold his own stuff to get money for the club and then Ridsdale decides he has had enough of him and gets rid of him.
