I'm actually not that bothered if we play a, so called, weakened side for this. Not because i don't care about the Cup, I do, more so than the league, but, the team needs an injection of passion and desire and maybe, just maybe, a few of these kids or fringe players might actually come in and look like they have something to play for.
I'd worry more if we picked our 1st 11, because they look anything but!

play our strongest available and go for it, the league's taking care of itself so what's the point in saving players for that.
Southampton will play a weakened team i would imagine so the cups our only salvation.

Lets hope we've learned our lesson from when we played them in the league. We got over-run in midfield when Lemina ran the show and their wing backs, particularly Cedric, bombed down our flanks time and time again. We need an extra man in midfield. About time Field got his chance. Burke in for Phillips who has been so disappointing for me of late. A bit of youthful enthusiasm added to the team. Lets go for it.

I don't believe they will. I certainly hope not. I'll be furious if we don't really have a go at winning this game.

Id like to see us try something different , something which doesnt expose our ancient midfield.
   4 2 3 1

Foster
Dawson
Hegazi
Evans
Gibbs

Yacob
Greg

Burke
Phillips
Brunt
JRod

Phillips given a free role behind Jrod , might help hide Yacobs lack of pace too.

I don't hate on Burke at all but I fail to see what he has shown that makes some of you want to give him a start. He's a 20-25 minute impact player at best, definitely should be on the 18 but not on the starting 11.

If we start putting out a weak reserve team in the 5th round of the cup in a winnable tie I might start to question what the whole point of the club is and whether I am wasting my team or not

I think Lai will have made it clear with his sackings today that we have to go all out to stay in the League.  I don't think the Cup will be a priority for him no matter how much Pardew or the players covet it.

I think we'll bow out of the cup and sadly get relegated too.  Not a great time to be a Baggies fan.

Plus the players keeping him out have shown nothing to suggest they should play either, and they have had far more opportunity.
I would definitely start him, we need some hunger.

I think we have to learn from our last game against Soutampton, and Sturridge being out may help in respect of a striker dropping in on one of their two deeper midfielders, Lemina ran the show a fortnight ago. I've also opted for legs in midfield so have put Field in ahead of Barry. I also would like to see our wide players inverted.

not particularly in the doghouse, but he was poor against Chelsea but more that I'd like to see what Gabr can do next to Hegazi and a cup tie seems like less of a risk than a league game (where points are more important). McAuley is cover on the bench so give Evans a day off and make sure he is ready to go against Huddersfield.

Good logic, JE is at about 80% at the moment IMO, no better time to look at Ali Gabr
