Daniel Sturridge (Loan 17/18)
« on: January 29, 2018, 11:42:45 AM »
https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/daniel-sturridge-odds-liverpool-striker-14215756

Sturridge would be a better option than virtually any other strikers being linked at the moment. England international, good goalscoring record, keen to get a chance to impress Gareth Southgate. I suppose it would come down to his wage demands.

I have just looked at those odds and they don't include Loans - can't see us affording him on a permanent deal - but I hope I am wrong.  A fit Sturridge would be the best striker we could get but thats if he stays fit.

Loan deals do count on Skybet, however pre contracts don't

However Newcastle have gone odds on & we've been pushed out to 6s just so ...

It's the exact reason I refuse to get excited by the change in odds on a transfer rumour

Daniel Sturridge set to join West Brom on loan from Liverpool
Yes, that’s right. The 28-year-old is heading to The Hawthorns after WBA agreed a £1.5m loan fee with Liverpool.

Sevilla, Internazionale and, as of earlier, Newcastle United had been in the running for Sturridge but the Birmingham-born player is returning to the Midlands for a few months at least having fallen out of favour with Jürgen Klopp.

Sturridge has not featured for Liverpool since coming on as a substitute in the 7-0 victory over Spartak Moscow in early December and has made only five starts in all competitions this season.

Top deal if true.

He's a finisher, its what we desperately need. Give him a chance and he'll put it away. He doesn't fit Liverpools constantly pressing system at all but he would do us.

F5 F5 F5.

This would be unbelievable, surely goes against everything we've been saying with FFP rules.

Sturridge would be a great signing assuming he's fit.  I think he'd be a perfect foil for Rondon.

Until I see pictures of any proposed signing holding up a scarf and shirt I just can’t belive it. For what it’s worth I’d love sturridge, the finisher we a crying out for.

Newcastle were expecting him up there at lunch time and he didn't turn up. Guardian saying he will be joining us. Brilliant if true.

Wow what a signing that will be if he passes his medical!
Wonder how we will pay for his weekly wage though with the FFP restrictions...

Don't know how to get excited about a player who has the potential to come on as a sub on his debut and see his loan stint ended by injury 5 minutes later. One of his biggest assets has always been his raw pace, injury has taken its toll and during his most recent appearances for Liverpool he just doesn't look like he has it.

Could go either way this one. I'd love for him to come and bag a bundle of goals and end up at the World Cup but for love nor money can't see it happening unfortunately. That's my realistic/negative 10p.

Hats off for the ambition shown by the club though

Imagine we will pay a larger fee and Liverpool will use it to pay his wages.

...

We had money for a player on loan, we're probably paying what we can afford of his wages.

That said, it is probably Dean Sturridge.

He's far better than what we've got. Means we will never see Kanu again and their will be genuine competition between him and Rodriguez as opposed to being automatic picks.
