Yeah that's why I find Man City so boring to watch, most of the time it seems just they stroll around the pitch
The question is if Man City went at full intensity for the full 90 minutes, would they be any more successful.  I doubt it, as the 'boring' bits are about keeping possession in the team, which means the opposition can't score.

🆕 Kieran McKenna is a also a candidate to become the next manager of Manchester United.

?? There has been a meeting in recent days between the Red Devils and Kieran McKenna's agent

? Gareth Southgate is still a top target and he is keen on the job but MUFC are worried about when England National Team will be free to recover the job.
Unbelievable the number of players, and managers Man Utd get linked to. There's a so-called Gossip column on the BBC website, and about half of the stories every day involve Man Utd being interested in somebody.

More to do with the ageing squad we have I would think. We have some who struggle to last 90 as it is.
There are very few teams that can go at it unrelenting for 90 minutes. Even Man City etc take their foot off the gas for periods. It may also go to extra time.

I hope Wallace comes in as a false No.9 as I think he's more clinical than BTA, and we will need to take at least one chance. He can also play the high press which is needed given how Southampton play out from the back. Hope it doesn't go to pens.

5
I'm never nervous before matches. Only if we're holding onto a one goal lead and the last 15 minutes. Except today, it will only be half-time.
Above comment now needs to be corrected. Took my blood pressure before kick-off and it had gone over 150. (its usually much lower).  Though in this case not getting WBATV pictures where I am in Germany, caused most of the stress.

Anyway, SmethDan may claim Villa has a detrimental effect on his general health, I can claim the same about the Albion  ???

Even if he hasn't been injury free for most of his time with us, maybe he's just not at the level Carlos expects.

It's not just that he gets past his full back, his crosses are usually quality. His cutback to Dianga second half, a typical example.

That save absolutely top drawer today.

As I said, Fellows and Johnston set up chances, but we miss a clinical finisher. I think I would try Wallace in the No.9 role on Friday as he can also play the high press.
Contrary to the earlier comments, I think Alex Mc Carthy is an excellent keeper, as he showed again today.

10
I think its about taking our chances. I'm sure Fellows and Johnston will set up some, but its crucial BTA and the rest are clinical when they come along.

At the moment watching Norwich-Leeds trying to make up my mind who I want.

Who did Gnabry play for in the Championship? He was in the Premier for us under Pulis, right?
Yep it was during 2015-16 whilst we were in the Prem.
Was never much good at pub quiz type questions  ;)

Kane, Bellingham both played championship?
Oh yes, forgot about them, though can't remember who Kane played for.

Tremendous finish to Real-Bayern semi-final as Real turn it around in final few minutes.
Maybe not such a good call by Tuchel to take Kane, Musiala and Sane off whilst Bayern were leading.
3 ex-Championship players appearing, Gnabry and 2 ex Stokies, Choupo-Moting and matchwinner Joselu.

I must admit Southampton brings back memories of staying with relatives in Poole and taking the train with my sister to go to matches at The Dell, as it then was. They had some cracking forwards back in the day, Martin Chivers, Mick Shannon and John Sydenham. If I'd stayed in the area, who knows, I may have ended up a Saints fan, but anyway they then brought in more defensive minded managers and their football became a lot more dire and I lost interest.

Crystal Palace were a very good watch last night. So were Manchester United but for entirely different reasons. I know they've had bad luck with injuries but for large chunks of the game they were utterly dire. They couldn't wait for the final whistle. I'd have loved to have seen live video footage from that dressing room at full time.
I didn't watch it, but sounds like I was wrong about Ten Hag. He clearly hasn't been able to create any team spirit or togetherness, and if you have £410 million to spend, then you can't plead bad luck with injuries.
Mind you, I've long rated Oliver Glasner and not sure why he parted ways with Eintracht when he did. (I actually mentiond him for our job a couple of vacancies back 8)).

Man Utd battered 4-0 at Palace. They spend £410million since Ten Hag arrived and looks like they won't make the European Conference League.  Sad for all the worldwide fans but they can easily find another glamour name to support.  :)

No thought given to the likes of Swift who have let us down for months on end and no striker worthy of the name and no money spent, but still deeming our squad one of the best.

I think its a bit harsh picking on Swift. Some people like players to run around like headless chickens diving into tackles, and Swift is clearly not that type of player. He is slowish but he is one of the best players we have at linking the play with passes which lead to goal chances. He also has a good kicking technique which makes him dangerous from around 15-20 metres out, as well as from penalties. I can understand CC preferring Diangana in his position lately, as Diang's form has been good, but I think Swift still may have a crucial role in the Play-Offs.

He's crucial to the way CC wants us to play. He knows how to pick the right pass , but he can also do the traditional centre back things like winning tackles and heading duels.

I think CC is easily the best asset at the club. When you contrast his dedication and attention to detail to say Bruce ('we'll dust ourselves down and go again') , the contrast couldn't be greater. I know some Albion fans are treating reaching the Play-Offs like winning a trophy, but Carlos won't be one of them. He will want to go on and win at Wembley, especially having experienced defeat there before. Unfortunately, that would really put him in the shop window, but he seems to have a genuine fondness for the club, so I hope he sticks around for a long time.

Never heard of the Sheffield Wednesday manager but what a job he's done as well. Those players were atrocious the first time we played them.
Danny Rohl, who was assistant at Bayern Munich. The guy who did the analysis.

Would have liked Blues to stay up as its my favourite derby. Mind you, neither of us may be in the Champ next season, fingers crossed.

Thought we were completly in control today, even though we missed some good chances. Carlos has done a fantastic job, but I bet he is not satisfied yet. Has some crucial team and tactical decisions to make before the Southampton games. I think he will look to individuals' current form and who is sharpest in training.  Difficult one is No.9. BTA will chase them every minute, but a more clinical finisher may be better, in which case Wallace should get the nod.

Leeds looking like finishing 3rd with Southampton 4th, so they would be our possible opponents should we make it to the next stage.

I'm never nervous before matches. It's only if its very tight going into the last 10-15 minutes, but I'm confident we'll get it over the line.  Surprised Wallace not in starting line up, but CC looks very carefully at current form and who's sharpest during the week. Also, we're bound to see subs over the 90 minutes.
