« on: April 06, 2020, 03:46:52 PM »
Talking about goalhangers, can anyone remember other names for the positions that players play?
eg. Sir bobby hope was called a schemer.

Left half, right half, inside left, inside right, outside left, outside right (midfield) , inside forward, outside forward.......

If anyone is interested in why these positions faded out of fashion, I recommend "inverting the pyramid" by Jonathan Wilson. Really interesting read.

I believe the Hungarians started the system . When they beat England 6-3 at Wembley in the 50,s

Hungary used a 2-3-3-2 formation. Almost a reversal of the WM formation that England used.

It was always annoying when the guy who’s ball it was would up and leave when he was on the losing side.
