Please let this be the final nail in the coffin. He’s got an appalling record since taking over and this squad is miles better than 3rd from bottom. Awful stuff.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: That Summer window….

I’ll just echo everybody else’s thoughts. Really poor window overall. Bizarre letting Mowatt, Robbo and even Kipre go with very little in the way of reinforcements. Good job we got Swift, Wallace and Yokuslu in otherwise we’d be fighting to stay up. As it is, we’ll be in and around mid table with no chance of the play offs.

The club clearly has no defined transfer strategy and we can only look back fondly on the days of Dan Ashworth and a well thought out list of targets, both domestic and overseas. Going to be a long season.

Hopefully he’s another Steven Reid. If he can get back to full fitness a definite upgrade on Furlong who’s an absolute liability defensively.

Still think it was mad it let this lad go out on loan. Not a world beater by any means but we are so short on numbers in the middle of the park and he at least offers something different to Livermore and JM. Just goes to further demonstrate the financial issues we have at the moment.

Anyone know what Bruce’s record is since he took over? It must be absolutely shocking!

Good result and some character shown to knick it at the death. Really can’t get excited by the style of football though. I can get on board with the high press and playing in the oppositions half but there were so many opportunities in the game for somebody to show a bit of composure and get the ball down and play. The ball was constantly in the air and being turned over from either team. Can’t argue with the results but it would be nice to see a bit more of a balanced approach as the football is really ugly.

Not happy with the appointment but in his defence, getting that Huddersfield team promoted and then keeping them up was some achievement. No choice but to get behind him really.

There are other managers who have had bad spells (eg Brendan Rodgers at Reading) who have gone on to become better managers for their experiences.

Bartley totally at fault for that. Should be clearing his lines in the 6 yard box. Gifted away 2 goals again

I really don't think that Big Sam is going to be too pleased to be managing a team that has got hammered in three home games and is cut adrift in the relegation zone with a meagre January budget. Worse, we are that far behind that evening attracting half decent players to sign is much more difficult. We are close the point of no return. So no point wasting any money this month. As Martin Keown has just summed it all up: "It's been a disaster".

Spot on.

This team is about as far away from being able to play the Allardyce way as you could imagine. It's like appointing Pepe Mel to play pressing football with an ageing squad with no legs. The incompatibility between Allardyce's style of football and the make up of this squad is so obvious. It was doomed to failure from the outset.

Has there ever been a team less suited to playing the Alardyce way? A clueless appointment which is backfiring in horrible fashion.

Sawyers still couldn't catch Grealish to offer a handshake at the final whistle...that was dire..

Sawyers shouldn't be anywhere near the first 11 by the way. His off the ball work in terms of tracking runners, positioning and tackling is very very poor. He got away with it last season because we dominated the ball in most games.

One shot all game by the way. ONE. Vs their 17. Pathetic.

Yup - even before the sending off it was absolutely awful.  Why would we set up to play the same way against Villa as we would against City?  It's clear Sam is going to just look for some clean sheets and defending for our lives.

Against Liverpool we'll have to mind.  But if anyone though it was bad under Pulis, at least we weren't wasting talent like Diangana, Robinson, Periera and Krov.

To be honest Diangana has been non-existent since the first few games. What the hell was happened to him??

This team is scarily bad. No quality, no discipline, no goal threat.

Not surprising though really when they have spent £250m in the space of a year and a few months.

Absolutely. Villa's owners have ploughed over £100m of their own money into the club. Our owners have no appetite to do so. We just can't compete unfortunately.

I genuinely think only Pereira or Diangana would get into Villa's starting eleven yesterday instead of Trezeguet. They are better than us in every single other position. Quite a chastening thought.

7 goals conceded in two games. This defence is woefully short of the quality required unfortunately.

Villa have had a £16m offer, rising to £20m for Arsenal reserve keeper Emiliano Martinez. I wish we had their open cheque book.

Where is all the money coming from??

I don't know too much about the lad but we desperately need midfield reinforcements. Beyond Sawyers and Livermore we have very little quality.

I think we could do with Conor and Krov at a minimum although i suspect that still leaves us without a genuine ball winning midfield player.

Miles better than Burke and can do a job anywhere across a front 3. A positive deal for me.

I haven't heard much on the Benrahma, Ollie Watkins front....£25m a piece seems pretty steep to me!

This would be a good signing if we could pull it off. Not as proven as Wilson but 6 years younger, has a much better injury record and would probably be on 50% of the wages.

Begs the questions where Ollie Watkins is off to?

4-3-3
Johnstone (Christ how I don’t want to see him in an Albion shirt next year)
Furlong
Ajayi
Hegazi
O’Shea
Livermore
Sawyers (if there was a decent replacement he’d be gone)
Krov
Pereira
Robinson
Diangana

This for me. I think we look much better with 3 in the middle of the park. We had a good run pre lockdown with this formation aside from the last couple of draws. I'm not sure why Robinson hasn't started more games for us recently. He was really effective pre lockdown and for me, has more end product than Diangana. Saying that, given how poor Hal and Austin have been, I'd give him a run up top. He can't be any worse surely?!?

I blame Bilic.

We have given away games with awful team selections, rubbish substitutions etc and that is not after timing I and others said this at the time.

Wrong team again tonight then at half time Bilic takes off the only midfielder we have with any physicality instead of Sawyers who was shocking tonight.

All teams are competitive you cant keep handing them the advantage and expect to win games.

Agree about Sawyers. Dreadful tonight.

Bilic needs to take a big portion of the blame since the restart. He doesn't know his best team or formation. Constant substitutions at half, strange selections. Taking Livermore off tonight was totally the wrong decision. We deserve this. Blown it well and truly.
