Lawro's Prediction
« Reply #175 on: August 23, 2012, 07:00:25 PM »
Tottenham are another team still a work in progress, because by this time next week they could have another two or three players. Andre Villas-Boas is very much building a side but I find it strange that he is prepared to let Michael Dawson leave. He has been injured and maybe Spurs think he won't be the same player again but he has been a very reliable and consistent centre-back for them over the past few seasons and he will not be easy to replace.
Spurs were a bit unlucky to lose a very tight game against Newcastle last weekend but I think they will get off the mark this time.
I watched West Brom against Liverpool last weekend and it was a strange game. Liverpool had lots of chances in the first half and I thought, if they scored, they would win comfortably.
Credit to Baggies boss Steve Clarke, his side came up with a really good second-half performance and it was they who won comfortably in the end. They will get a very different examination at White Hart Lane, however.
Prediction: 2-0

Sour grapes? Still no credit whatsoever.

For the record, i've just realised how ridiculous it looks to say he's given us no credit when he does actually acknowledge our second half performance. You can still tell he was probably saying that through gritted teeth, and the fact remains that his comment on Liverpool bossing the first half and that they would have won comfortably if they scored completely blemishes the piece for me. I hope we continue to prove him wrong. :P

a ray of hope is that kaboul is out of this one, and obviously dawson is off, so maybe a chance to cut through that back 4? lets hope adebayor, lennon and bale all have off days then we have nothing to worry about  ;D

We always used to go in the Antwerp Arms, not far from the ground but a bit of a walk through a dodgy-looking estate. Never had any trouble there or on route despite stories of the pub being rough. Got a feeling it was set on fire though and has since been closed :-\

Yeah just been looking on the Spud's forums and they said it was arson (although some think it was a separate incident to the riots.)

Looking at this list, I can't believe there are any pubs left in London, nevermind Tottenham:

Tottenham Pubs that have now closed

The bull - Now flats.
The Swan
The White Hart (Tottenham hale)
The Robert E Lee
The Eagle (was then Eltons)
The Flower Pot
The Prince of Wales
Beehive
The Plough
THE TORY CLUB
The Pleasure rooms -Those strippers
The Red Lion
Sams etc
The Corner Pin
The Antwerp Arms - fire boomb'd Nov 2011.......
The Milford Tavern (Pride of the lane?)
The Park Tavern
British Queen - Back open i think?
The Railway Tavern
The Compasses (past the irish center apparently)
The Cockeral bar was - The Whitehall tavern
The Bank
Bootlaces was .........THE CHEQUERS - Now a f***ing Chicken shop
Pub that is now Paddy power - The Three Crowns.
The Old Globe - Now a bloody massive Chinese.
The Golden fleece
The Spurs - The Roundway
White Hart - Devonshire Hill Lane
The Fox - West Green Road
Dagmar Arms - off Phillip Lane
Poachers - Lordship Lane
The Rising Sun - Now flats.
