Dunno about that, where is evidence that he had been drinking and its been widely reported that he left his details at the scene. I am no fan of the slimeball but I can see no way he gets banged up for this.

You'll not convince me he wasn't inebriated, even without evidence. You dont smash your car along a row of parked cars sober.
If you stay at the scene you get tested, fail and have no defense. If you leave your details but disappear, not to be questioned for hours, you create a situation where a drink drive conviction is difficult. His very good lawyer can now argue he got something in his eye so crashed, and was shaken and scared of press attention so left but wasn't thinking straight and wouldnt have done it otherwise. He definitely didnt leave because he was inebriated.
