Take it we will play him at Full Back/Wing Back to give us more energy on the flanks?

Hi all West Ham fan here.
I may ruffle a few feathers here...but here goes :)
I'm one West Ham fan that will say Fat Sam saved our bacon.
Yes he does set his sides up to not be the most attractive to watch. But what he does do is make your team hard to beat.
When he took over here we were in the championship. He managed to get us promoted in his first season.
The club as a whole ,when he took over, was on its knees.
He established us as a Premiership team on a shoe string budget too.
Ok he didn't win over many fans for the style of football he dealt up. But whatever anyone says he left West Ham United football club in a better position when he left than when he walked through the door.
With Sam you get what it say's on the tin.
I hope he keeps you up...in fact i'm sure he will.
Good luckfor the rest of the season.

Thanks much appreciated. I think it takes him a few matches to get his philosophy across and the thrashings from CP, Villa and Leeds are hard to take but we need to keep the faith as you did last year and the year before.

DCM, another CB and a striker.
Yes but who with PL experience and survival?

3 more signings like this in the areas we need and we will have some semblance of balance and the tippytappers will be able to concentrate on their tippy-tapping and we will have a fighting chance of staying up.
Who else then?

Although this signing will not excite some I believe it is the lack of hard bitten professionals who are used to a PL dog fight is missing from the squad and another 4 such signings might transform us and the attitude within the club.

We are being linked with a lot of players, most of seem to have PL experience which has to be good as that it is what our current squad lacks. We need some gnarled, gritty PL players to stand any chance of escaping this.

I was amazed he did not bring in some fresh legs tonight given the 48 hour gap and hat they had to do on Sunday and it really showed. So disappointed.

I cannot welcome you Sam. The sooner you are sacked the better. A disgraceful appointment
I take the opposite view, Like you i am dismayed that Slav has gone. Even more dismayed at the way it was done and the fact it was leaked but I wish Allardyce all the best at my club and hope he ends up as manger of the year and we have two or three players in the premier league team of the season.

For me the only positive about sacking Bilic is that if we manage to stay up it should hasten the departure of the owner and the rest of the board.
If we don't stay up I imagine the board will try and cash in on some of our more saleable players and we end up with a much weaker squad in the Championship.
Yes the only silver lining in the murky depths we have to align ourselves these days.

The comparisons to Pulis/Pardew etc are miles off, he's more like Hodgson in terms of stats etc.

Love him or hate him as a person, he's a decent manager with a good CV. If he wasn't English and so dour, he'd probably have a better reputation. In terms of results/safe hands we can't do much better unless we gamble and go for a foreign manager.
He might well keep us up but would i rather be in the Championship with my head held high supporting a well run, well a managed club - yes at the moment.

Gutted for Slav
Gutted for the majority of fans
Gutted for the future of the club

I hate the premier league and what it has done to our club with every fibre of my body !

Thanks for some great days Slav, you deserved better !
Well said - you have said it all.

Sadly it will be Allardyce on a big bonus to keep us up. Back to Pulis football!

Absolute joke. We are a club without investment, leadership or direction. Billic did everything he could in the circumstances and i am ashamed of my club. The way it was leaked to the BBC this morning is also indicitive as to the way our club is run. Faceless owners who don't care about the manager, players, supporters and other shareholders. A very sad day for Albion I am mortified.

Who is better value Hegazi on £70k a week or Periera on £45k? - perhaps we are just trying to get an equitable wage structure?

Gutted TBH. Why was this not done in the window when we could have replaced him unless it was Ivanovic and this was already going to happen? We missed out on Duffy, perhaps we could have gone for Smalling (unlikely)or Phil Jones. We are now defensively light till January 31st I suspect.

We’ve blinked. We’ll most probably have to blink again. This guy better be good if he arrives. Have we ever had such a drawn out transfer?
Yes everyone we do these days.

Thought that run under Buckley was up around 15 or 16 straight defeats? A club record.
That probably includes cup defeats as well but i stand to be corrected. I seem to remember losing 11 on the trot and drawing 12th. Chrs Lekowski will put me right!

I’ll bet his close association with the Vile did very little in endearing him to you, Smethdan (pardon the pun).

But yeah, I remember him being in charge and he was utter toss at the Albion. Nearly relegated us.
You are right he was useless and it is not often that anyone with Vile or Dingle pasts do well. However my worst was Alan Buckley (just ahead of Little, Saunders, Talbot and Gould) in the dismal Hall of Fame. Losing 11 in a row I think including getting thumped 3-0) at home by Wolves - just awful.

I have never gone into a season with less optimism (I saw my first game in 1969). Normally I am by nature a glass half full person but lack of money, crowds, Covid and experienced PL players are big warning signs. To me our only trump cards are Billic and team spirit but how long will this last if results don't improve? Given our lack of finances, however, if we sign another one or two strikers by the end of next week it will have been a good window and better than a lot of similar clubs such as Burnley or West Ham.
That said there is something deeply wrong and it is almost like we expect to go down come what may a la Norwich last year? Our squad is more talented than some of the other PL squads we have had and survived, our manager is better yet as it stands we are still going to go down something is not right perhaps we need a bit of the Sheffield United attitude of last season.

Given that a potential transfer of Austin leaving has been in the press is seems reasonably clear that we don't particularly want him here.

We therefore now only have one fit striker who we want to be here.
Guess now we cannot let Austin go now unless a direct replacement is lined up like Deeney or Welbeck? I think Grant is already in the budget at the right fee if not it will be King or Gray.

HRK's injury will surely only strengthen Huddersfield's bargaining position.

The longer we play chicken, the more likely we are to lose.
Really? Does it matter whether we play HRK or Austin on the bench?

I realise that it's only one person's view, but very interesting that he doesn't think that Grant is suited to playing the lone striker role.
Interesting to hear the Huddersfield Chairman on the radio this morning asking for the PL to help out the EFL and saying how hard times were. He is probably right but at least he can expect a cash injection soon.

The forgotten man surely this means that Bartley or Hegazi are on their way out  especially if Ivanovic arrives?
