I've always liked the lad and remember when Gary Megson did a couple of games a few seasons ago, he played him every game and he got better and better and Pardew wrecked his confidence.

I have never seen anything to make him stand out, as far as I can see he's an average championship/league 1 player.

If he wasn't "one of our own" and he played for another team I don't think anyone would be aware of him at all

Pretty much agree with this. We had the same but to a lesser extent with the equally crocked George Thorne.

What he has got going for him is that currently none of our midfielders can tackle AND pass except him.

Got the curse of looking like he's ready to hold down a place then yet another injury strikes.

Of the two I thought that Thorne was a far better prospect. Field is mid table Champ level at best.

Definitely training this week. Needs to play Saturday in the absence of a signing at DCM.

Thank god. I can't stand the thought of seeing Sawyers strolling about anymore.

He was back in training last Thursday, not sure if it was full training though. Looks like he's in proper training now.

Please Sam pick him on Saturday, I can't stand another ninety minutes of Sawyers strolling around chewing his gum either.

As Jacko says, if we don't sign a DM, it has to be Field.

If he's fit, and can't get into this side on this form under this manager, then we know there is a fundamental weakness in his game and he needs to be moved on.

Can he be chucked in from the off ?

Unfortunately a requirement for match fitness would say no.

If we could only pick players on being match fitwe wouldn't have many to choose from.

This despite him not being good enough? I truly don’t think he is sadly.

I don't rate the lad, but we haven't got any other defensive midfielders.

Makelele he isn't but he is a better defensive player than Sawyers which in an Allardyce team is a pre-requisite. I imagine Mr Allardyce will start with him and withdraw him as fitness dictates

I would choose Field as he doesnt just concentrate on chewing gum and strolling about like a lost sheep haplessly letting the game pass him by!!

Surely he's got to play this weekend, and Grosicki too.

Come on Sam A, we're counting on you to engineer this team.... I know you can get more out of this squad and I really don't care who gets dropped to do it.

You might not be able to polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter.

If he wasn't even fit enough to be in the squad against Blackpool, I can't see how he's suddenly going to be ready to start the game against Wolves.

If we can get him to the point where he can play 20 to 30 minutes, I think Allardyce may bring him off the bench if we're leading / drawing, to keep the result.

Other than that, can't see him going straight in.

Nobody in for Sam then again

Pulis (although did give him his debut) Pardew, Moore, Shan, Bilic, Big Sam havent played him
2  seasons in the championship and he couldn't get in our team

Clearly not good enough I'm afraid

Can see him ending up at Walsall

Lad spends 80% of his life injured sadly. Can't ever kick on at that rate.
