What hasn’t been perfect out of interest?

I think they’ve been a breath of fresh air
Don’t get me wrong we owe them a lot of thanks. I’m not convinced that they have a decent scouting system set up as yet. I get that we are a medium sized fish in the sea but I was disappointed in the time it took to get Mowbray in and not totally convinced that he’s the man to take us forwards. I’d hoped that knowing CC was likely to leave sooner rather than later we would have had a number of serious managerial contenders to consider. However, I get it was mid season and the options were limited. I still don’t see why we offered TM such a long contract given his age and the fact that he didn’t seem to fit with the strategic vision I thought the owners had. It’s easy to criticise from the outside and I really hope Mowbray works but I have my reservations.

Incredible really that some fans are in uproar after the apparent demise since corberen has left ,we were 7th when he left 10 games later were 6th don’t seem very drastic downhill turn to me !think people forget we wernt walking the league with cc in charge
Agreed. We have been the best of the average 6th to mid table teams all season. The key difference is that under CC our performances were more measured and predictable - we rarely lost but didn’t win enough either. TM has made us look vulnerable at the back but on our day more adventurous up front. When we’ve won it’s been exciting - Sheffield W and Portsmouth were great wins. On the days we’ve not ticked we’ve looked poor - Blackburn and Plymouth. Mowbray has had to try to change our very rigid style of play without a number of injured players and with new faces coming in. It’s almost like a preseason for him trying to get us used to new tactics and finding a starting 11.

On balance a reasonable point especially given our poor away from all season. If we hadn’t got beaten by Blackburn it would have looked much better. I don’t think TM has got us playing anything like he would want as yet but he’s still not had that much time. On paper we should be doing better but we need to find a rhythm which just isn’t there as yet.

Wallace shirt pictured hanging up. Hope he doesn't get any game time, he's a notorious bottler against Millwall, especially down here
I’m often his biggest critic but have to admit he made a decent contribution when he came on against Blackburn. However, as you say he doesn’t seem to like playing against Millwall.

Just found this out:

"Stoke City lost 2-0 in the very first round of fixtures in 1888 and their goal difference has never recovered and has been in minus ever since - the highest it’s ever been was when it was at 0 after ten minutes of their first ever league game."
That’s quite incredible really for a side that’s been around as long as them.

                      Wildsmith
         Holgate.    Ajayi.     Heggem

Fellows.   Price. Diakite Molumby  styles

                Armstrong
                            Lankshear

That gives you energy everywhere
Good coverage for the 3 at the back
Both of the loanees as these two together should rip this league and crucially no chance of hooking Fellows and Johnstone at the same time
Very fluid and capable of transitioning to a 442 or 451 during the game
I like the look of this team. Could be our strongest starting 11 with the players currently available - as long as Ajayi is fit enough to start.

Hope we’ll get a reaction to Wednesday night but we always struggle at Millwall. One player who never plays well against them is Wallace. Even when he was at his best for us as soon as we played them he disappeared. What’s the betting he’s in the starting 11!

I had my concerns when he came back and they appear to be well founded but yes, we can't really judge him until he has had a chance to bring players in that are more suited to his style of play.

I don't share your optimism that he he'll find a best 11 with what he has inherited though.

At the start of the season I predicted we'd finish 7-12 and I still think that we'll finish around 10th.
I’d agree that’s probably about where we should be - certainly top 10. Had CC have stopped I think we may have made the playoffs by being hard to beat but, like last season, we would have lacked the quality to have had any impact on the better sides in the Championship. If TM can start to put us on a better pathway in the summer with a younger and more adventurous squad I’d be happy. I too have reservations as to whether given his age and health issues that he’s had to battle he is the man for the job. I thought our model was to bring in younger more energetic coaches who were hungry to prove their worth. Whilst he’s a top man I’m not sure TM fits that model.

Survival at this stage ..another 18 draws should do it   :'( :'( :'( :'(
I’ve watched a little more Premier and Champions League football of late and have been in awe of the quality of the play. The Championship by comparison is so laboured and stale. It’s almost like watching two different sports. I see little value (other than the obvious financial gain) in us being promoted. Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester were much better than us last season and we are not as strong as we were last. I want us to make the playoffs only because it would mean we’d obviously have to play better in the remainder of this season but whoever goes up this year is in for a torrid time.

Seems to be having some of the same issues as his predecessor. Picking his personal favourites at the expense of the team balance.

A lot of players here with soft feet and soft bellies too sadly.

Everyone said we needed to give his predecessor more time after 2 years of being in charge and I don't agree with that, same as I won't agree with it for Tony. I will give him more time than 25 days though.
Yes - he has inherited a squad that doesn’t suit his preferred style of play. Hopefully he can change things over time but there are no quick fixes. We are a million miles off the Premier League and don’t stand out from teams in the top half of the Championship. You should walk this league to have any hope of survival if promoted. Let’s hope we can build around some of our younger players and improve for next season after another clear out.

The silence is deafening for me. No post match comments or did he decide to go home early like most of the supporters?

How do Plymouth found their manager and after spending an age Nestor found Mowbray.

He needs to get a grip and stop playing rubbish like Swift and Wallace.

He took us over in the top six and if we aren't still there at the end of the season then it will be thanks and goodbye.
I think it would have been best for both parties had it been a contract until the end of this season.

Truth hurts
I really hope he can turn it around but I have to say he looked well and truly defeated tonight. Perhaps he’s regretting taking us on but who knows.

Mowbray needs to apologise for his players tonight. That’s not an acceptable performance.

Can’t blame them tonight. The team never showed up so why should the fans stay and watch that. I’ll have respect for TM if he’s honest holds up his hands and apologised for them tonight. That wasn’t acceptable.

Blackburn proved slightly better of two poor teams in a poor game. We’ve not beaten anyone in the top 6 this season. Playoffs are obviously still possible but I can’t see us having any joy. We are an ok side in a very poor Championship. There’s no short term fix I’m afraid until we are able to bring in better quality we aren’t going to improve. TM looked frustrated but powerless to do anything about things tonight.

Having watched Man City v Real Madrid last night this is a come down. The Championship lacks any real quality - it’s almost like watching a different sport!

I thought that too. It’s not like it was 5.30 I’m surprised at how early people leave. A few by me left on 82 minutes there was still another 15 minutes and two goals to come!

It was my first home game since Swansea. I was quite surprised by how passive our support is. Many had left at 1-0. It’s so expensive these days I can’t believe the number of fans who missed the extra time drama.

Only seen the highlights but it seems like Furlong had a torrid time - all their attacks came down his side.

Wildsmith looked good but also spilled the ball for their goal. Shame Heggem couldn't pull off the double block on the goal line.
I thought that both of our fullbacks struggled when they changed things around in the second half. Both looked better coming forwards but not so good defending. Their left winger was tricky and had the beating of Furlong.

Have you ever purchased insurance?
Yeah - I get that. It’s like criticising a player secretly hoping he’ll get a hat-trick. The opposite of tempting fate.

I think TM saw how devoid of ideas the team were against Plymouth last week. I’m sure there’ll be some changes but there has to be some stability. Introducing too many new players at once would be counter productive. I’m sure that we’ll see fewer square pegs in round holes now that there are some real options to choose from.

Yes, so many options now and formations I hope TM keeps it simple in training he'll be like a kid in a sweet shop!
I just hope it’s not the same lineup as the last two inspite of the Portsmouth score line.
