True ,Liam Delap would be a great example of a few attempted loans to get the player doing what he needed too.

Does anybody seriously think Reyes Cleary is anything over than an extremely average lower league player? Liam Delap? :) are we serious….

Contract length is apparently posing problems.

Whoever is appointed should always be on a 12 month rolling deal. Keeps it simple and means no need to renegotiate a new deal every few years. That’s what we did under JP with numerous managers.

I don't think that's the case at all. He is just about to turn 22, which is still quite young for a centre back. He has the remainder of this season to continue getting experience at this level - as you say, he's likely to get minutes during the rest of this season. Then hopefully he will be ready to challenge for a regular spot at the beginning of next season. I would say next Christmas time is a more realistic time to assess whether or not he is going to make the grade.

Rio Ferdinand was 20 when Leeds paid £20m for him 24 years ago. If Taylor is a great white hope then his talent should be obvious sooner than later. Or he might just turn out to be a very average lower league footballer.

I find it hard to accept that we seem unable to attract the likes of Cooper.
As our stock fallen that low?
I am sure he would be the perfect fit for us.
I know he is on gardening leave but i'm sure he could come to a settlement with Leicester in both parties best interests.Finding it all quite depressing this manager search.

Resounding no from me, dragged Forest up with a mega budget and sacked before he took them back down, flopped at Leicester. Incredibly mediocre manager, not sure why a few think he’s some sort of genius. No prem club is going for him ever again.

Its a no to Dyche from me, I've had a belly full of dull negative football. Does anyone know if Bilic or his agent were ever contacted at all? I think he was badly treated by us, but he always had an affinity with us fans and the ownership has changed. I'd have him back in a heartbeat right now.

I think that’s very much overblown. Managing that Everton squad with no budget and Burnley in the prem their only chance of survival was to be extremely well organised, well coached and hard to beat.

Job of the manager is to get the most out of squad available. He got Burnley promoted in 2014 with them scoring 96 goals. He got them back up again in 2016 at title winners but only scoring 72, but nobody else in the league scored more either (odd season). He also got little Burnley into Europe in the PL and kept Everton up, which was no mean feat with that terrible squad and point deductions. I’d be very happy and regard it a coup if we got him.

Rooney left Plymouth on NYE & they already appointed a new gaffer so this excuse people peddled on because of New Years we were taking our time is nonsense this is pure incompetence.

Yes talks breakdown but this why you don't wait several weeks before start interviewing...

Precious time has now gone games are coming thick and fast

Like every other fan you are on the outside, not privy to the recruitment process and yet pretending you are. Toys back in the pram.

This has taken way too long and is a bit of a shambles now imo

I’d rather they took their time to get the right appointment. Dyche is the stand out candidate if we can persuade him to take the job.

You are upset that the media keep speculating and guessing different names?  That’s literally their job :D

Cooper is more than realistic, who else above is going to appoint him? Madness to think that he wouldn’t be realistic for us, I just don’t think he is particularly good so not overly keen on him. Corberan schooled him with his poverty model Huddersfield side that season they were rivals in the championship. It took two very dodgy VAR calls for Cooper to defeat him despite the comparative budgets of the two squads. He then spent an absolute fortune in the Premier League and got the sack when it looked like he was taking them down. He isn’t very good I’m afraid chaps.

Exactly my assessment, mediocre manager at best who has failed with much bigger budgets and plays dire defensive football.

Nixon say Stoke want Cooper today but how they do they get around the PSR/FFP etc rules?

Maybe they are not too fussed about breaching them. Worked out nicely for Forest in the PL. A small point reduction is worthwhile in a lot of cases in return for bringing in the players or manager that makes the difference.

Styles should have been moved into midfield to replace Mowatt with McNair starting. Up against it but Brunt got his team wrong twice.

There was a lot of praise for the summer transfer window but my word most these signings look very far off championship standard. Even sunday league players rarely have a touch as bad as Diakite there.

No surprise, as we were forced to recruit from the freebie bin, which is stacked full of players who cannot play at this level. Some of our online fan base were happy purely as the players came from abroad. Therefore in their minds it was the start of getting in another batch of Gera, Yacob and Mulumbu. Without realising that even those players required significant investment back in the day that the club did not have this summer, and that the days of picking up international captains for £1-2m are long gone. I lost count of the number of posts praising how much more value there is in the foreign market…but the the championship is the best second division in the world.

I wouldn't mind Moyes but he will be very expensive.

Regarding Jonny Heitinga I thought about it disrupting their season but he wasn't an assistant brought in my Slot when he arrived.

Also, he did brilliantly well in his short stint at Ajax, 66% win rate in 22 games I think, and still nobody offered him a job elsewhere when Ajax gave him the boot.

I’d imagine a win percentage of 66% at Ajax is pretty routine. Save for one or two seasons they have dominated their league alongside PSV and Fereynood.

If we bring in someone like Hertinga a downside is they have no experience of the championship whereas Corberán had already managed extensively at this level and was a very smart hardworking coach.

All very depressing as the club is going backwards, just a matter of how far back. High quality managers are very hard to find.

Not sure you could say we played free flowing football generally though.  On a few rare occassions we did - we also threw away loads of points by scoring a goal and sitting back immediately after.

We are not Real Madrid, can be no expectations of free flowing football. As for throwing away points by sitting back, just maybe the opposition forced us back on occasions, two teams on the pitch. Coventry pinned us in the other week. Our defensive record is superb, remarkable how many clean sheets we have kept with all the injuries to the back line. Testament to the manager and players we haven’t conceded a single goal from a corner yet this season.

Whatever comes next in the dugout is nailed on to be inferior.

Lee Carsley is a great shout and Igor Tudor is very interesting.

Russell Martin..... I'd be gutted to see that happen.

Lee Carsley has no management experience. Mark Robbins seems the obvious choice for an astute coach used to working on a budget in this league.

A large % of the fan base didn’t deserve him????
Stunning post…WOW

He got paid very well for what he did ,I don’t think there is  anyone that won’t say we are in a better position than when he came to the club, but that should be tempered with the fact that he isn’t perfect and fans absolutely have their right to voice their opinions /views
Unfortunately there seems to be people within the fan base that just cannot accept a differing point of view
To me it’s split in to 3 groups
Those that steadfastly refuse to believe that Corberan could ever make an error or be at fault ,blame Lai and everyone/anything else over the manager and would keep him regardless of results.

Those that support him, recognise the errors and would still like him to remain on the balance of what he has achieved and hope that the errors will not be repeated .

Those (of which I am one) that recognise where we were, where we are, that he did improve us but think he has reached his ceiling with us and makes some very strange decisions …and that the club are better taking the comp than having to pay out to move him on in a period of minimal wins when the club must be considering all options .

I speak for me,I don’t make any wild claims on behalf of others and I certainly don’t feel the need to tell a large % of the fan base anything .

This is going to age like sour milk. Then when everything gets worse it be a case of blaming the next manager and board rather than accepting the obvious - we have lost an exceptional manager, working intelligently and relentlessly with limited resources.

l can tell you now, we will finish mid table. This is a disaster.

I broadly agree, that if he’s off we have lost the best manager we have had for years, but a large % of our fan base didn’t deserve him anyway - nothing but unappreciative. Careful what you wish for is about to hit home very hard. One sided relationship and we were punching above our weight…

Timing is rough given the amount of games over Xmas but from my view something hasn’t felt right for a few months, team selections have been baffling at times and a lot of the players talk about how intense CC can be which can be good and bad. He definitely helped us recover after the Lai farce. I suspect if results hadn’t improved for the first few weeks in Jan/Feb he would have been under pressure and likely changed with us having to pay his team compensation. The ridiculous amount of draws would have not gone unnoticed. Not sure who comes in but we have to try and support/trust the owners going forward.

We have a relatively small squad with a lot of injuries to defenders. The team has picked itself, no idea why you have found the selections baffling. Exact opposite IMV.

I wouldn’t hold your breath. A large part of our fan base has turned into a toxic bunch of ungrateful entitled whingebags.

Don't win during the next 3 (and they're tough fixtures) and instead of talking about 10 games unbeaten it'll be "1 win in 15".

That is quite likely as modern football fans are inpatient, petulant and insufferable. Last to cheer, first to moan.

Sunderland away was a tough fixture. Fact is we are a tough game for every side at this level who play us. Were a good side at this level and well coached but were not great.

I don’t necessarily disagree. I think he’d survive all but three loses, then I’m not sure but he may survive that too. However I think it’ll be incredibly hard to come back from a poor week in the medium turn unless there’s a major upturn. The court of public (fan) opinion is ruthless once the majority turn. Three loses you also get in to ‘lost the dressing room’ realm which is a football cliche but clearly can happen. If the draws start turning to defeats it’s undeniable to tolerance fall quickly

We’re 10 games unbeaten and a vocal minority of the fanbase have unrealistic expectations.

Not much more to it than that. We are one goalscoring midfielder or playmaker from having a very good side but have been drawing a lot of games during a period of injuries.

We are relatively well placed to make the top six and are not good enough for the top three.

The whinging from the stands and twitter is off the charts. You’d think we were Real Madrid and expected to win 45 games this season.

Those that think it would be best to make a change, do you think that this is even an option due to how close we are with the PSR rules? I'm not convinced that it would even be a possibility if they have to pay a manager and his backroom staff off and then go and get someone else.

Anyone who wants the manager sacked should be banned from the Hawthorns for life….

Not just our club but large % of football fans in general are idiots with no patience.

Picked the wrong side last 2 games. Hopefully Mowatt and Molumby start together next game.

You have to remember he gets the news on injuries and recovery. We do not. Molumby has been injured. But for that he would never have missed a game.

Solid 6-7 would indicate he has had a major role in games . He simply hasn’t!!
Goal involvement has been poor this season. If you are looking at his passing stats you would think he has done a lot, but the facts point to him being a passenger. Needs to be dropped.

Most of the time he has been playing deeper linking the defence and attack, he keeps us ticking  over and remains a key player. I get some of the frustration with him, I get that at times but he is also an easy scapegoat to highlight when we have lost a game.

He is not beyond criticsm.

He is at the moment, we are top. Unless losing a competitive game mandates criticism rather than taking it on the chin, which would set sets the bar for criticism at anything below 46 wins.
