General Football & Sports / Pro Football - Losing interest
« on: April 24, 2021, 03:45:47 PM »
Anyone else finding themselves totally losing interest in the pro game especially at the highest level?

The ESL fiasco  coupled with the new UCL format changes have completely derailed me this last week. Almost like the straw the broke the camels back. I can find no interest in the elite game....unused to spend hours a day looking at news reports, scanning other forums for what clubs are doing etc....in the last week it’s all gone. Zero interest.

Even the Villa game, the big one for me... I don’t care about it! Shocked myself tbh. Haven’t even got the will to wind up the Villa fans like I normally would.

I listen to a lot of football podcasts especially Undr The Cosh. Hearing the characters from the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s and comparing it against this sanistised version of player we get now had made me realise just how much football has changed, and not for the better I add!

My attachment to the game has waned so much over the years but even more so in the last week.

Looking forward to going to non-league games once we can go again. I can’t get to Albion regular anyway as I’m in Cornwall and the wife works Saturdays, but, I can make a local nonleague side....terracing and poor pitches...that’ll do me

West Bromwich Albion FC / Players you feel we have missed out on
« on: October 31, 2020, 10:47:48 AM »
As the title suggests, what players do you feel we could have signed and didn’t that would have had an impact.

Just watching Jermaine Defoe and even 2-3 years ago I feel he would have been an excellent signing.

I think he would have had a similar impact to Kevin Phillips.

Just to say his 300th club goal was also an excellent finish and what he was all about

Any others you can think of that would, have done, or could do now?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Changing tickets
« on: February 12, 2020, 10:22:22 AM »
Ticket office is a bit busy today (I was 19th in the queue) but I’m after some advice

I’ve got 2 tickets for Forest with my 5yo daughter and unfortunately last night I ruptured or snapped my Achilles’ tendon.

What are the chances of the club allowing me to change tickets to a more easy access area as I’m on crutches?? Anyone had to do this??

Anyone know why I wouldn’t be able to purchase Forest tickets online?

Tried online but it doesn’t have the add option for the game like it does the other matches listed

West Bromwich Albion FC / Matchday Parking
« on: January 07, 2020, 07:34:01 PM »
I’m after the best place to park as near to the ground as possible for the Forest game on the 15th?

It’s been years since I’ve driven up to a game but I’m bringing my 5yo daughter for her first game and as they’ve changed the time we play the train is no longer viable

I know you used to be able to park down the side roads on the industrial estate on the Birmingham Rd, not sure if you still can or if they are now paid parking?

No problem paying but want somewhere that’s close as I’ll be up early is to take her to the club shop for her first shirt aswell  8)

Any help greatly appreciated

« on: October 21, 2017, 06:38:23 PM »
Im a little perplexed

How do BT get all the Champions League and UEFA Cup games??

I thought a monopoly wasnt allowed hence Sky not getting them?

But then BT are allowed to host all European games?

The Champions League messed up allowing BT to have it, I dont think ive watched a Champions League game since BT got it, im sure there are millions of others in the same boat in this country who cant see it either so their viewing figures must be low and I personally think it will make a lot of people lose interest in the competition

West Bromwich Albion FC / Albion Football Memorabilia
« on: April 24, 2017, 09:16:59 AM »
So this weekend I received a package from my mum which contained quite a few bits of historic Albion memorabilia my Dad and his Dad had collected during their lives.

In it were the 1931 and 1968 Sports Argus papers detailing our Cup Win, along with a few other Argus papers from those days, loads of pristine condition programmes including the 1954 FA Cup Final Programme

1993 Sports Argus from the PO Final (I had not kept mine as a 15yr old)

Programmes from the 50's/60's and 70's, a few away ones from Albion too

Signed pictures (team and individual ones) from the 40's/50's/60's and 70's

Original pictures of players from the 30's and 40's (not in great condition though but Jack Vernon and Ronnie Allen amongst them)

Signed menu's from a gala night at Albion in 1993 with Ronnie Allen, Ossie Ardiles and a few players having signed it

I remember them as a child and had forgotten about them until I received them, I wept like a baby when I got them as they bring back a lot of memories of my Dad but because even as a kid I was fascinated by them and its still true to this day and im so happy to have received them, feel like ive won the lottery.

Ill post some pics up once ive photographed them as I intend on framing some of the items to keep them in good condition.

But it begs the question?

What memorabilia do you have in your possession related to Albion that you hold dear to your heart?

Big shout out to Wayne Rooney today on breaking the scoring record for Man Utd

Some people don't like him but personally have loved him as a player since his first game and that goal against Arsenal

I love seeing records getting broken

England and Man Utd's record goalscorer now, whatever you think of him its a great record

Absolutely stunned someone could post such a vile post on twitter regarding the death of a players baby

What is wrong with the youth of today, cry if they don't get what they want but feel they can write vile stuff like this followed by crying with laughter faces

I know his clubs Hitchin and Condicote have sacked him which is great but I hope the FA issue him with a long term ban for this

West Bromwich Albion FC / Disability tickets at The Hawthorns
« on: December 21, 2016, 01:39:54 PM »
So im bringing my dad up hopefully for the Stoke game, he will more than likely need to be in a wheel chair as the long walk wouldnt do him any good.

I need to find out about getting tickets for himself and me for the disabled area and also a parking spot close to the ground....

can anyone shed any light on how we go about this? I've been onto the site but there isnt much info on it regarding ticket prices for myself and my dad and any parking we could use to make it easier

General Football & Sports / FIFA Fines Home Nations for displaying poppies

The most ridiculous thing ever, hope we refuse to pay.

They said you couldnt display on shirts and it looks like they are fining for people turning up in Poppy outfits and for the stadium displays aswell

Sad day for football, I'd love this to kick off breakaways from the current structure and countries starting putting pressure on FIFA to back down.

FIFA do not own football that still belongs to the masses

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/mourinhos-hands-off-role-stuns-players-w6nkgvflr

Just read over this report and I'm stunned to be honest....last year they were STUNNED how LVG conducted training and this year its Mourinho...when are the players going too accept responsibility and admit they are not good enough anymore??

This is a manager who was won everything everywhere, he can backup his methods with medals yet half of these players cant even backup their moaning with results

Sick to death of player power....just shut up, go training,  do as your told, play as your asked and give 110% everytime and at the end of the week pick up your astronomical wages you bunch of tarts

John Williams discusses Albion's summer transfer window

I believe we finished the summer transfer window stronger than we started having added Nacer Chadli, Allan Nyom and Hal Robson-Kanu in the final week.

Yesterday’s last day of transfer window activity saw us bring in the Cameroon international full-back Nyom from Watford for an undisclosed fee before we received permission from Wales for Robson-Kanu to leave their training camp and complete his transfer to the Club.

That took to five the total of our summer signings following the earlier arrivals of Matt Phillips and Brendan Galloway before Chadli was signed on Monday.

The end of the window also saw Rickie Lambert and Cristian Gamboa leave the Club and Sebastien Pocognoli depart on loan. I would like to thank them for their services and wish them well in their new opportunities at Cardiff City, Celtic and Brighton respectively.

At the end of last season, we also opted not to renew the contracts of Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe while James Chester was sold to Aston Villa in August. Likewise our thanks and best wishes go to these players.

Our Head Coach Tony Pulis is very selective and particular about the players he recruits so it follows that the new team members will add significantly to his first-team options. Tony wanted five and we got five.

That having been said, the one disappointment we suffered was not being able to add a further quality midfield player.

We were a long way down the road with a deal, which for the second time in the window would have broken the Club transfer record, thanks to the on-going support of Jeremy Peace and Guochuan Lai.

General Football & Sports / Riyad Mahrez - PFA Player of the Year
« on: April 25, 2016, 11:31:35 AM »
Right choice?

I think so, there was a few that could all have been deserved but he has been a brilliant player all season and produced magic when needed.

The Team of the Year I can agree with all of the choices in that aswell.
